Welcome to the 4th annual "The Ark Music Festival"

This is something that we've done every year for the past 4 years. Find your favorite tunes and post a YouTube, talk about your favorite bands or songs, post an inspirational lyric, or just hang out, listen to the tunes and chat.

It's always good clean fun.

For those who don't know how, or have been having issues posting videos, I've updated the help files. Just click here and read post number 6.

Hey Pottery!

Agree with your diagnosis.

Glad to read that your after effects weren't as bad as the last storm. Looked pretty bad on WV Loops. Was thinking of you while you were making that drive. Enjoy your day off.

Thanks.
Going to be mostly overcast and cool.
Good day for goofing off!

I think I'll have another cup......

Howdy, Hood.

Isaac still struggling to get his act together.
Huge area, with the low not very strong as yet.
Better vorticity this morning.

I still think that a turn to the north today is unlikely.

Hey Pottery how did it work out picking up your guest last night. Didn't have to pick her up in a canoe did ya, no really hope all went ok and there wern't alot of oh crikeys on the trip back to the hascienda

Good morning.

Drove through some pretty strong gusts, dropping small branches on the road.... Incredible lightening all around but not overhead.
Not a lot of rain. Rain came later in the early morn.
Flight was on time, and Visitor said it was quite bumpy. Not surprising !

Rained heavy on the hills though, with more flood issues, like you saw in the images, Not as bad as last w/e but still pretty grim.

Sort of taking the day off here.
Hope you guys have a good one !

Good Morning!
TGIF

Isaac "looks" a little better on Sat this morning, but looks can be deceiving. Still not stacked. Low level center still to the north of the rest.

What the heck happened to Joyce while I was sleeping?

Ski,
Yesterday I was still thinking that was a possibility.
Hard for me to argue with the GFS and ECMWF in such close agreement. I tend to think this one is going to continue more westward for a bit. You do have some support from the WRF model but unless Isaac gets totally discombobulated (yes, that is a weather term...just so you know) by land interaction I don't expect it to pan out. Who knows, maybe if the LLC hits a big enough rock it will knock the boy into alignment! :o)

I'm not betting anything on this one.

Good but scary story Rob,

I will eat crow but I am still leaning towards a east coast of florida turn. It's just that large flow from Isaac going that way at the moment, thinking it will pull it up.

Well I am going to get my laundry out of the dryer, figured I will do it in cool of the night instead of dealing with it tomorrow, still got stuff to do.

Long day, early night.
Will see what the morning models hold.

Rest well my friends.
Long nights ahead.

Ski,
When Charlie came through, Angie was running around the house with a vacuum. When it started getting pretty close, I told her "put that away and get in here". 5 minutes later a 30"+ slingshot shaped pine that had been around for 150 years fell on the house smashing through the roof of the 2nd bedroom where she had been 5 minutes before.

She had done disaster relief work after Andrew, but had never been through one. Since that time, when I say "this is serious, get in here" she listens.

Then Francis and Jeanne came along. Jeanne cost me a lot of money. Hurricanes were no fun after that!

Had 4 inches of rain here the other day. No big deal.
4 inches of rain on a hillside in Trinidad...most of it ends up at the bottom. Heard it was pretty rough. Twice as bad when you think that the same thing just happened a couple weeks ago.

Outside for a while...back later.

Yea I saw some pics.

Everyone is allways worried about the eye and what is the wind. Water is the biggest worry I reckon.

When I was in KW I was on the phone to one of my mates that lived in big pine about 35 miles up road during hurricane Georges. Well we got the eye, was cool cause it came in the arvo and saw the hole. Anyway when the backside came she said oh I just lost my roof. You don't have to be anywhere near the centre for sheet to happen.

Tom said well if the eye hits marathon we are alright. That phone call came to mind right off. He hasn't been through a hurricane though. Anyone that hasn't been through a hurricane just doesn't relize that sheet happens miles from the eye

Man!

Where did the day go? Almost 4pm.

Ski,
It's something about boats. There is always a problem. Glad you got yours fixed. I've seen rims that just wouldn't hold air. Have one on a 50 gallon sprayer right now that I'm gonna have to put a tube in. Really frustrating when you've got a 15 minute job but have to spend an hour fixing stuff!

Seems to happen to me a lot.

yep join the club,

Storm is still weak, hope it stays that way.

Hey Rob
Don't worry mate in a good hole here. If I wasn't on the boat I wouldn't be as nervous. Can go to the marina house if it gets to hairy.

Went to get my trailer out of the boat yard before they blocked it in, cause they take all the boats on the high racks and put them down low, the place is packed. Well the bloody trailer had a broken spring and a flat. So spent a couple of hrs sweating my butt off fixing it. Its all good, got away with not taking the tire off it just pumped right up, always had a prob with that tire, but even the tire guys can't find the leak in it. crappy rim I reckon.

Good Morning!

Ski,
Thanks for restocking the jukebox.
Stay safe. Although we really don't know how this is going to play out yet, I worry about you (just a little) down there on your boat. Even though it is a very good boat. Hope you don't get too much excitement!

Pottery,
Figured you were getting a gully-washer. Looks like things might start getting a little better for you. Hope so!

RTL,
Foot is a lot better. Walked too much yesterday and made it worse. At least the all day headache went away!
I should be home all day.
Better stock up on apple fritters...the road to Publix might be flooded next week. Hope not!

Hey Snake, I live on the boat. Its a 43ft Irwin sloop. Its an older model built tuff.

Morning Arkers,

0646 hours here, Publix was out of Apple Fritters so I was forced to buy Cinnamon Rolls yesterday, I must speak to the manager about that today.

Hope your foot feels better today Rob, will call you around noon after I get back from doing the DVD duplications at Church.

Hope you managed to get to and from the airport last night safely Pottery.

One of the models had the storm coming up thru the panhandle of Fla and parking itself right over Georgia. Would wipe out the drought here for sure. In 1994 TS Aberto did that and flooded Ala and Ga with 24 inches of rain and killed thirty people. Don't ever want to see that much rain.

Hey Waterski, keep your eyes on the sky down there!
How big is that boat of yours? Do you live on it or
just park it at the marina?

OK, have to leave early this morning, have lots to do.

Okay, here's the thing.
The stupid trough that has been hanging around the last couple days gave me a headache all day. I did something, I don't know what, to my foot a couple days ago and it hurts...think it's just bruised bad. I'm about tired of looking at tropical systems and models for one day.

Gonna say goodnight early.

Thanks for the tunes Ski.
You guys can continue to hang out if you like.
(Somebody needs to keep Pottery awake)
I'll check back later.

Have a great evening!

Do ALL flights to Trinidad arrive in the middle of the night?<br>Be careful!

Ski,
Yeah...might be a good idea to see if the genset will run BEFORE the storm arrives. I've got 3. I service them and crank them in June, then run them out of fuel for storage. Then I fire them up a day or two before a storm arrives.

Only the ones that I have to meet.....
Strange, eh ?

Looking at the zoomed in rainbow loops, I can't make up my mind about that swarm of rain to our S/W.

Will it?? Wont it???

Grrrrr...

Genset LOL. no really I think of a genset mounted in the boat. Got this one online for the trip down here. simple little thing 1500 watts. Back up really. If worst comes to worst will spark the engine up and run fans and a fridge which draws a whole .09 of an amp off inverters everything else is battery run and gas stove so all good got plenty of ice. May have to use the generator for the bait freezer if anything But yea have been slacking should of sparked the generator up before this.

Still no rain to talk of, thankfully.
Have to go to the airport to meet a young lady from Quebec, at 11:10 pm.
It's sure to come down in buckets around then, isn't it ?
Even if it's dry, 11:10pm is bad enough.......

LOL, blind squirel is a little tame for my name calling.

click pop fizz slurp, this storm watching is thursty bizness.

Was talking to our marina owner, and the boats here did fine in a cat 3 (not sure I am believing that), problem was when the storm was west of us it pushed the water in to this hole and it came up so high that he had to cut the power to us cause all our outlets went under water. I haven't started my widdy generator yet. But hope it runs with no probs. knocking on wood. maybe a project for tomorrow

Well, the rains are here again.
Total for Tues. PM was just shy of 4 inches.

5 pm NHC update didn't tell us anything we didn't already know.

Think I get a shower and make some chicken and yellow rice.

Well for what it's worth when the spagetties are right over me from the get go with a storm this far out it changes alot either way away from me. Thats what I have noticed in the past. But a blind squirel can find a nut once in awhile.
Member Since: Posts: Comments:
For what it's worth, the GFS and ECMWF are coming closer together. That's what I look for. Will see if this trend continues.

At the moment, the GFS tracks well offshore of the Florida peninsula, passing over, or very close to Key West.

The ECMWF no longer crosses the Yucatan.

Morning Todd!
Good to see you.

Ski,
Gonna be a while before we know what this storm will ultimately do. A lot of variables. How strong when it encounters land.
(stronger, better organized storms tend to be more disrupted by mountains), exact track and time over land, will the ridge break and if so where, how strong the storm is if/when the ridge breaks, and lots of other stuff.

Then there are always the surprises. I remember when Katrina was about to come into south Florida a mass of dry air on the WV loop plummeting down the east coast at the last minute, looking for all the world like the fist of God, and knocking her south of track. Was freaky to watch.

Glad you have preps in place.
I have a box of 2 liter club soda bottles that I keep on hand during the season. When it looks like we might have a problem I fill them with water and put as many as will fit in the freezers. If we loose power it keeps things frozen until I can get the portable generators up and running.

Be safe!

Yes the precip will definitely happen. I also think that Isaac is going to be nudged south of track, at least in the short term.

Just had a strong squall from the WSW, with horizontal rain for 20 mins.
Might have got more in the North, where Lady Pott is, crossing things off HER list.....

"Oh, your'e going to town are you?" says I, "We need dog food, cash, and stuff!"

I ran into the bushes before she could respond.....

Take care!

Thats a roger.

I need to be around to adjust lines, fenders and all that jazz.

Just got gas, beer, made 5 big blocks of ice, they take a day or so to freeze, then will put those in a big cooler and make more. Just sorting topside don't need anything blowing around up there. Putting skiff on the trailer sat hope thats not to late.

I see the 11 oclock spagetties have moved more west. Puts me on the badside if it goes that way
