Welcome to The Ark

Welcome to the 4th annual "The Ark Music Festival"

This is something that we've done every year for the past 4 years. Find your favorite tunes and post a YouTube, talk about your favorite bands or songs, post an inspirational lyric, or just hang out, listen to the tunes and chat.

It's always good clean fun.

For those who don't know how, or have been having issues posting videos, I've updated the help files. Just click here and read post number 6.

Here is a link to the previous blog.

Hey Ski!
Thanks for checking in and for being our weather report girl in the keys!

Glad that you are okay.
Be safe my friend!

Hey no worries, seems like the wind has picked up a bit, wonder if the storm is getting stronger

Had some ripper white outs earlier had to be blowing 50 plus and gusting. I was outside for them pretty awesome, Some roof tiles came off a guys house across the way, not surprised his house on the edge of water was getting it full force.

Hi checking in.

Wind has shifted a bit more out of the SE still very gusty, We seemed to have been in between bands cause we haven't had much more rain for ages. Tide is really high. High tide was at 5.30 so should be going down now. could hardly get off the boat.

We went and checked on our mates at the other marina on the bayside and its about as calm as anything there. Went down to the beach oceanside surfs up. Few branches down other than that no dramas.

Well, I like your version better Shep. Don't even need the fishing, just a lazy day in the water.

Weather update.
They've dropped our Tornado watch apparently. Hourly weather graph shows we should be expecting 29 mph with gust to 39 right now then gradually diminishing over about 12 hours.

Haven't seen 29 all day, which is a little odd since our winds on the ridge usually run a little higher than NWS forecast.

Fine by me. Basically just a rainy day, except our winds don't normally come from the east this time of year. Nice though because I can sit out on the west facing deck overlooking the lake without getting wet.

In other words...all is well so far.

Waiting for Ski to check in.

"Ah ! You don't know what your'e missing, dear chap!

To wander out into the Brambly Bushes, armed with tools of mass destruction, labour for 4 hours and return to the house 'covered in bites, stings, cuts and bruises."

Hmmm?

Maybe I do....sounds like a morning of fishing the mangroves in the Everglades in summer.

:)

Greetings Pottery!

How is the weather in the southern realm? Looked as though you might get more rain today.

LOL...and after I finish cleaning up around the pool from where the landscaper(not sheph) cut the piping to spa section of my daughter's newly coated pool, grrrr, I will return and take my spanking like a man. :)

Unlike "someone" we all know...sheph doesn't "do" landscaping. At my daughter's house maybe a little...but at my house, if the riding lawn mower doesn't reach it, "it" doesn't need it.

Riding mowers also double as a rake.
Ya have to have one hand free for a cold beer...don't cha know

:)

Oh...forgot the weather update.
Breezy with scattered bits of drippy.

Except for the direction of the wind, just a normal cloudy day.

Glad to hear things haven't been too exciting so far Ski, you should be in the thick of it by now.

Shep, not one for creating my self a lot of repetitive yardwork either.

Pottery, It's just stuff I usually keep around anyway, only difference it making sure everything was topped off, charged, and functional.

Well pretty boring so far. Some of the bands are cool. Next one is going to be more intense I reckon. The sun is actually peaking through between them

Howdy ya'll.

Beautiful morn here in Orlando.
Yup...that's gonna change by nightfall :)

I'll have to read back a few to see what you pirates have been talking about lately.

I see Lord Pottery had a birthday...."That's good" :)))
Every body should have one of those.
What I didn't realize is that he is twice as old as his country. :)

Thanks for thinking of us Goofy!

Okay,
Got all the 5 gallon cans of gas filled. Full tank in the car.
Have 2 18 volt batteries for the Ridgid flashlight charged. Have a low wattage flourescent light that will run a long time off the computer UPS. 3 generators ready to go. (one runs the pump which is by the barn, not the house, one for the house which is enough to run the freezers and a window AC, one goes to my parents house if they need it.)

Have 16 gallons of drinking water, one full and one partial propane canister, 60 lbs of charcoal and lots of wood, plenty of food, Angie picked up pet food yesterday. Laundry being done as I type, need to run the dishwasher and fill 2 liter bottles with water and cram into free space in freezer.

Haven't got around to getting a UPS for the DSL router, which is in another room, so I could lose internet for a while in the event of a power outage, but I survived plenty of storms without it way back when.

Have a big dead limb on a pine tree that I wanted to get down. Broke a high quality 1/2 braided rope pulling on it with the truck yesterday...tied it off, it ain't going anywhere. Maybe I'll climb up and cut it next week.

Have a supply of lumber, hardware, and tools for any emergency repairs.

Unless something freaky happens I think I'm pretty well set.

If not, well, I've got a brand new 1.75L of Cruzan.

Good to know you are Properly Prepared...

Maybe you get to bring it all out someday, but I really hope not!

Isaac is a Weird One, fer shure.....
Seems to be going off to visit Patrap and them.

Looks like our weather will be a little cooler and some sunshine is in the mix.

Have a great Sunday, everyone.
Life goes on, don't you know ?

Pottery looks to be getting more rain today.

Will be running around a bit tomorrow during the day, but be home for sure tomorrow night

Ok bin sitting out on the back deck for a bit. Wind is picking up but not strong but it has that weird sound when it blows through stantions of the sailboats, a kind of a wail if you will.

Gave my usual mouthfuls to a couple of people on the main. Not polly for a change. One explaining the Conch Republic cause she said you people in florida. 'You People' really!! And then some nutter challenged my spelling and said the Conch Republic is BS, I just said come to key west and say that and they will put him in the gallows LOL

Can't see it unless something really surprising happens.
Looking at the steering, the surface maps, no model support. Thursday AM, I could see a possibility, but not now. Even the NAM has decided against it. NAM track is really interesting btw. Scares the heck out of everyone in south FL, terrorizes the keys, then hangs a hard left into the central GOM freaking out everyone from MX to Tampa!

Let me know if you see something I don't.

Personally I'd like to see it totally fall apart over Cuba and drift harmlessly into the Yucatan, but not counting on it.

LMAO So true.

Well crap I have typed 3 different ways to explain why I thought it would go more to the east side of fl and it sounded so boring and stupid I deleted all of them.

We had some ripper squalls this morn, by the afternoon it has cleared out and become fairly calm.

Spent most of the day at the other marina where we keep the fishing boat. Lots of free entertainment and helped some mates with their preps.

Will have to wait till morn to see what the storm is going to do, looks like a mess at the moment and the intensity for our area has changed to no need to panic as much who knew

So, I'm out for a while.
Need to get away from the screen and also get a good night's sleep in case I have severe bands to watch tomorrow night.

If you find yourself stressing about Isaac, close your eyes and listen to this for an hour.

Might be back when I check the 11pm NHC.
Rest well friends.

Pottery,
Angie says you can't eat a Coot because she thinks they are cool. I just call them swamp chickens.

So, just go get yourself a Cornish Game Hen.

Well, it hasn't really turned north yet, just northwest, so we'll let you off with a Coot. You do have Coots do you not?

Finally out of the cone, at least for the moment. Of little consequence though. Still expecting tropical storm conditions and possibility of tornadoes.

Thanks for the Belated, but very Appreciated Greetings !

Looks to me like yoa'll are in for some Inclement Weather, there.
It has been Dread in Haiti and Dominican Rep. already, with PLENTY more rain coming at them.
Stay safe !

By the way, does anyone have a link for a Crow supplier by mail order or something?
We don't have Crows here (maybe we ate them all up...) and I need to sample one, courtesy of Isaac. Did not think he would turn north so soon.

Thanks janetlee!
Yeah, south Florida is already getting wet.
I'm NW of Lake Okeechobee about 40 miles.
High and dry on the ridge
Biggest concern here at the moment is tree damage and tornadoes.
Will be watching closely.

i see someone else had a birthday this week other than SBKaren
As usual for me I'm a day or two late and a few $$'s short.
I hope you had a very enjoyable Birthday and are looking forward to many more.

I posted in Ylees about my fam in FL, they are scattered all over the place down there. The biggest concentration being around Broward & Palm Beach counties.
Nevertheless it looks as if all of them (and you) will probably be getting very wet in the next few days.
just be safe~~

Pottery,
Speaking of Birthdays.
Yesterday was yours, if I am not mistaken.

So sorry for getting distracted and forgetting.
Happy belated birthday my friend.
Will try to do better next year.

Do you mind if we celebrate all weekend instead?

Really happy for Lady Pott. with her 2 featured pieces!
Give her congrats and hugs from all of us!

And congrats. on the big 50!
Member Since: September 2, 2008 Posts: 97 Comments: 32308
Yeah, a peculiar One, is Isaac.
Still influencing the weather here, with clouds going by high up, from south to north.
Occasional showers. Nice, actually.

Had to attend a Function at the Museum this evening.
The opening of an exhibition celebrating the Nation's Art, over 50 years.
Lady Pott has 2 pcs featured. She is Most Pleased.
It's our 50th Birthday next week, don't you know.
We are all being very Nationalistic, and wearing the appropriate Red Garments....

The speeches were Interminable. Sigh.
The wine and snacks were quite good. Especially the little shish-kebabs.

Odd that NWS removed the "possible tropical storm conditions" and lowered the wind speed forecast for my location. Still right on the edge of the cone and actually closer to the forecast track than this morning.
