Fire Weather

Welcome to The Ark

I opened the door earlier this morning to let the dog take a walk and to inspect the garden area. I immediately noticed a strong smell of smoke in the air. The email and photos of Pottery's firefighting episode 2 days ago (to be included in comments section) were fresh in my mind, as was the NWS warning of fire weather this afternoon.

I walked the perimeter trying to determine the source. By the time I completed the loop, the smoke had thinned and I never detected a plume on the horizon, so with the stiff and variable breeze, I guess it was a good ways to the ENE of here.

Not a great way to start the morning. Low humidity, wind, very dry conditions, and lots of dead fuel on the ground from an very dry winter make perfect conditions for the rapid propagation of fires. These conditions are wide-spread this spring.

So...I'm keeping an eye out and I hope all of you are too.

Keep Strong, Hood.
And, seeking solace from those who love you, is a Good Thing.

In case my previous post, a tribute to an old, dear friend, raised any eyebrows or made anyone wonder where my head is at, there is only one lady that is MY lady, and forever shall be, My lady, Angie.

Sorry, guys...falling into melancholy tonight. The world of whys and what ifs. A tough weekend for me, but I'll be okay.

Long ago and far away, when we thought we could change the world.

For my dear old friend Janice. Thanks for that dance. And the kiss. Yes, I'd have turned around...if you'd asked.
How would the world be then, I wonder?

Just went outside for a few minutes. You'd never guess there was any nasty business in the Atlantic. Bright blue and sunny without a cloud to be seen.

Silly RTLSNK! The prunes are for the gigantic ones, the dwarf varieties get raisins!

Be careful, there is no telling what lives in that thing!

Morning Arkers and Arkets,

I have two Honey-doos on todays list.

First I have to track down a large nest of those big nasty black mud dobber wasps that are taking all of the grout out between my bricks on the front porch to make their mud nests with. Once I find them I will give them a bath with Wasp Spray. Since I am alergic to bee stings and alergic to insecticides I will have to find a Hazmat Suit first.

My second job this morning is go give this gigantic six foot tall six foot wide green grass thingy in the back garden some prunes. At least I think that's what SugarBear said, I am just now having my coffee so I may have to have those instructions again before I start on that job. From what I remember she said it was supposed to be a little dwarf green grass thingy and it turned out to be monster green grass thingy and is taking over the entire garden so it needs to be "pruned". I don't know what giving it prunes is going to do for it but she is the "Gardener", I am just manual labor you know.

Orca gave me a Hazmat Suit years ago to wear when I have to go in the crawl space under the house because of all the Wolf Spiders that live under there. Maybe I can still find a photo of it. Be right back.

For now, drinking coffee and looking at Sat loops.
Angie is still asleep, but I'm sure a list will follow in due course.

Then again, I might just go out in the garden and look busy.

Trust me that never works. LOL
We just like to make you think it does.

Good Morning Rob.

Have a Nice Evening, Capt. Hood.

Here, we had another glorious sunset, cocktails on the upstairs deck locking at subdued flashes lighting up the clouds over the Venezuelan Andes. Then the cloud whisped away and there was the Moon.
Then dinner and now the Ladies are saying they are Retiring for the night.

I think I will follow them pretty soon.

Y'all have Fun !

Dedicated to my friend EmmyRose.

How can you see into my eyes like open doors,
leading you down into my core,
where I've become so numb.
Without a soul my spirit's sleeping somewhere cold
until you find it there and lead it back home.

I think you broke something with the weather up there.
That's just silly!

Of course, you could always order up a tropical storm. That would cool things down.

200??? I'm still trying to get back to 210. :)

Yeah, looks like that high pressure system is going to push 94L back into Florida.

We could use some of that up here too!

Changed the breakfast plan.
Cut out the bread and mayo,
Made a burrito with 1 egg, scrambled, 2 strips bacon, lettuce, cheese, sliced tomato, salt, pepper.

Lunch will be some kind of soup, will have the BLT for dinner maybe.

Gonna beat the 'Snake to 200.

Yeah, I like this job every Thurs morning, I work in the yard Mon, Tues, and Wed, take a nice break Thurs morn, then back to the yard Fri and Sat morning, then off again on Sunday.

By the first of June I cut back to yard work only on Mon, Tues, and Wed!

Good Morning Everyone!

Thank you for the tunes Goofy.
Ylee, LOL That would be a problem!
RTL, Coffee, AC, and Donuts! Sounds like you're all set.

Been outside watching a couple junior aviators take flying lessons in the top of a pine tree. I think they are a little too fat for their wings. They seem to be getting the hang of it though. Saw a couple nearly level flights.

Morning...

Yeah, the flying lessons are happening here too.
Watched a good one yesterday from the eaves above the garage, with Mom and Dad in attendance and a lot of chirping.
Junior did good and flew 40 feet into a big Balata tree.

It's drizzling....................

Well, actually, taking the day off from yard work.

I have 23 Baby Dedication DVD's to duplicate at Church this morning.

But the duplication room is Air Conditioned don't you know!
And fresh coffee across the hall with donuts!
