People Are Strange...that's a good thing.

By: RobDaHood, 6:57 AM GMT on July 28, 2009

"Strangers" Welcome

There was a little discussion on the blog of my young friend upweatherdog about how strange people are.

Got me to thinking...I've never minded if folks thought me a little "strange". The last thing in the world that I want is for people to think of me as Normal or Average. Also most of my friends are Strange...in a good way! (Just take a look at the personalities here...LOL.)

I've just never been real good at conformity...fitting into the mold that someone else designed.

No, it's the "Normal" people you have to worry about. People, I am sure, read this blog and think...what a wierd, crazy, strange bunch.

I created this blog as a playground. Where "grown-ups" could be "young". And it works! Take a look at kids on a playground sometime. They just want to play and have fun...make friends and enjoy each other's company. They don't worry about "grown-up" things, like race, religion, what country your family comes from, how big your house is, what clothes you wear or car your parents drive. Social status means nothing to 5 year olds, and every person they meet is a new, exciting, opportunity to play and learn.

Why do we have to lose that?

So, here you can play, be yourself, and have fun...and in the process learn a thing or two.

Strange is good!

Do We Really Need This?

By: RobDaHood, 6:17 PM GMT on July 16, 2009

Do We Really Need This?

Can't tell if your beer is cold...No Problem! Coors has it all figured out for you! Seems that with their new cans, the mountains on the label turn nice and blue when the beer is at the perfect temperature. Huh?

Image springs to mind of a couple high school kids with the first pack of beer they ever smuggled out the back door of the grocery store sitting around the cooler anxiously rubbing their palms together waiting for the mountains to change...

Are we really in that much of a hurry. Have we really grown so incompentent as to not even know when the beer is cold?

Okay, the beer is just a fun example, but as a society, we have come to expect quick push button solutions, we want technology to replace having to work or think. We want someone else to solve all our problems. And we want it all nice and shiny and cheap

Business responds by giving us exactly what we ask for. That is how the business world works...can't blame the companies...If you want to make money, you have to give the consumers what they think they want. Failing that, you convince them through advertising that it's something they need.

So...my point is, All the cheap, flashy, unnecessary junk that we buy costs money and consumes resources. But hey, at least you don't have to reach into the cooler and feel that beer can! And that flash color change label...well, after the development and re-tooling costs, they have to spend millions on advertizing to let you know how it's gonna improve your lifestyle...that money has to come from somewhere....Yep, You got it...(knew you were smart!)...It comes out of your Beer budget!

Play Nice and enjoy your day!
May all your beverages be just the right temp!

By: RobDaHood, 3:09 PM GMT on July 08, 2009

1st Annual Limbo and Plank Diving Extravaganza!

My friend and your fellow crewmate Shep has a birthday today!
Please leave a post of congratulations, consolation, or, well...if you gotta tease him about the quantity of candles he has accumulated...try to be gentle!

Feel free to hang out and party tonight, just remember to sign the disclaimer at the gangway...the one that says:
"If I slip and fall off the plank, it's my own dang fault!"
LOL

Happy Birthday Shep!
