Project PepperPot

I like plants, but not enough to dote over them. If you are a plant and you are going to survive here you better be low maintenance or tough. That's why I generally stick to trees. Problem is I like fresh veggies and herbs. They have to be fed, watered, weeded, checked for parasites and bugs, and otherwise pampered. They also don't like being left unattended durring the hot Florida summer. I have made a few self watering containers from large rectangular storage bins but I wanted to experiment with something on a smaller scale.

Congrats NOLA! Kudos Portlight

Just a retitle and an update:
The first of the Portlight.org Spring Fundraisers, New Orleans, LA was Saturday. I've seen vids and photos, and It looks like it was a great event. Hats off to Patrap, Keith, for doing such a great job. Going first ain't easy but they pulled it off with class. Thanks to everyone who participated, assisted, donated, and supported this event. The ball is rolling now and you folks did it!
By now you all probably know, I'm a firm believer in what Portlight Strategies, Inc. is doing. They did wonderful things to help needy folks in the wake of Hurricane Ike. They leveraged a relatively small amount of cash donations to get hundreds of thousands of dollars in materials to people who really needed it. They have a track record of getting the bucks you donate to the people in need, and not wasting it on a lot of administrative overhead.
I really expect great things from this grassroots organization by the people and for the people. I am so proud of the WU members who have dedicated their time and energy to Portlight and it's fund-raising efforts. While I sincerely hope that none of us will need help in the year ahead, I do realize that odds are some of us will. The plan is to be proactive...to have funds and material in place before the storm so that they can respond even faster. It is with that in mind that I ask anyone reading this, who is able to contribute even a small amount to please contact the folks listed below to sponsor someone in one or more of the walks. If you want to participate, they will gladly help you to do so. If you know of people or companies who might want to help the cause, please put them in touch.
You can get more info by contacting any of the members linked below or the portlight link. Also, visit the Portlight.org blog here on wunderground.com

Jumbies and Goblins and Ghouls, Oh My!

Halloween in March? Sure, why not...Just call it Spring Fever, March Madness, or blame it on the approach of the full moon and the Ides of March. Whatever the cause, the conversation has drifted that way, and we'll have a little fun with it!

Meaningless Title
Tutorials and Help
The help files
I've done some post to help people learn how to embed video, insert links, post images, etc. The Idea here is to gather them all in one place that we can link to. I'll go back and find the info and post it here. I'll try to update it from time to time with new stuff from myself and others. If you need some help with something not listed here, send me a WU mail or ask me on the current blog and I will try my best to help you or find someone who can.
Don't post questions here as I may not see them for a while.
Would like to say thanks to the people who have helped me along the way and to those who ask the questions so I will know what needs to go here.
If you find something here useful, please "pay it forward" by trying to help someone else.
Thanks!
-Rob
