Hey guys - it was nice to meet everyone! Big thanks to Duane and all who helped to put the trip together.

Just a reminder here that we're putting together a special edition of World View next week on Tuesday 10/1. We'll pick one photo from each person who uploaded photos from the trip to include in the collection.

Those of you who are uploading photos from Gold Beach - don't forget:

- Make sure the file size is at least 900px wide
- Add the caption "goldbeach13" to your top 2-3 favorites (so we can find them via search)

The above requirements will ensure that all your favorite photos are considered. Also, if the file size is less than 900px wide, the system won't even technically allow us to include it, so this is important...

Thanks!

I had a great time meeting and interacting with photographers from so many places! And it couldn't have been nicer weather for us at Cape Blanco Lighthouse.

I see WU!

Talk about fall colors!

Sometimes, it's a good idea to look at the view without a viewfinder.

Trying to get photographers to go in the same direction is like trying to herd cats.

Hmmm... What should I shoot next?

Man on a mission...

On top of the world? Well, maybe just a better perspective.

Who says you need a tripod?

What would we do without friendly, knowledgeable volunteers to make it all more interesting?

Men with caps don't mind the wind.

See there? If you stand in the shade of the lighthouse you can get a cool silhouette as you shoot into the sun.

Really, who needs a tripod?

A tripod couldn't make this shot any better.

I packed my rain gear; saw the weather report before leaving home on Monday. Spent two days at my daughter's ranch in Cottonwood and then drove across Highway 36 to the 101 and drove the rest of the way here.... we got here Wednesday night.

I hope everybody packed rain gear. The forecast has downgraded to rain:

Friday, 100% chance of rain, high of 68º
Saturday, 60% chance of rain, high of 61º
Sunday, 40% chance of rain, high of 64º

If we're lucky there will be some good storm surf pounding on the rocks. No sunrise/sunset shots, but there should be some great tide-pooling. We'll have a good time and find some good shots no matter what!

On the other hand, as the forecast for Thursday and Monday is pretty good, I'm going to stop at every viewpoint I find going and coming. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if I run across some other WU photographers along the way, like maybe TriGirl and TheLung who are flying to Eugene and driving from there.

Thursday, partly cloudy, 10% chance of rain, high of 68º
Monday, mostly cloudy, 0% chance of rain, high of 61º

Looking forward to starting the vacation, even if it is all fog, I won't be at work! Seeing BriarCraft's blog postings of Feathers picture of the coastal arches, if weather permits, Sunday may be a 24 mile trip to the south to Samuel Boardman state park for me.

We can't wait to see everyone again and to meet a few new folks this time! We will be arriving sometime on Thursday, probably late afternoon, since we are flying into Eugene and have a bit of a drive to the coast and then south. We will be shooting stuff on the way too of course!! We did see some barns and farms out west last year if anyone arrives early and wants to do a road trip and find some back roads on their own.
Crossing our fingers and toes for good weather and very light fog so we can actually SEE the sun set this year! :)

That is a great photo! Not only is it nicely composed, but it just begs a story. I just know there's a lot of history behind that old derelict (not you! the boat).

START THE COUNTDOWN CLOCK

TEN days and counting. Looks like it won't be bikini weather - low 60's but SUNNY. I forgot last year about the cool coast after the 90's here.

Heidrun and Roni are already hiking toward Gold Beach-they left Austria last Wednesday. Gary starts west tomorrow.

Looks like the point of No Return....Counting.

It seems the elk are moving for fall.
I found a herd right down the road, and one on the Coquille river in the last couple of weeks.

I spoke to Greg at Humbug Mountain State Park. There is a Gazebo, an Ampitheater, possibly the beach for group campfires. And, like I said, Terry and I will have a fire burning most of the time.

Hey Reno...
Just enough info to get me to click the right buttons, thanks:).
We will be camping at Humbug Mountain state Park, which is on the way to Cape Blanco.
There will be a pretty continuous campfire, and Terry and I get up well before dawn.
There is a trail right to the beach.
We are checking into a beach campfire...
It POURED here this AM... For a couple of hours.
Hopefully the extreme fire weather is over!
See Y'all there!
