I was lucky enough to see her in person, performing in a small setting in the library of our local community college DCC quite a few years ago, back in 1986 I think it was. Such a dynamic speaker!

I was saddened to read in the news that Maya Angelou had died at home, age 86. She was a woman greatly to be admired and I thought about doing a tribute blog to her, but no need. I can honor her here. Thanks Prose!

Her life had a very difficult beginning, a little black girl in Arkansas before Civil Rights, a victim of rape at age 7. Amazingly, she went on to become a role-model for people of color and for women of any color. Her hard-won wisdom touched me deeply.

One of many wise and beautiful sentiments she wrote:
"People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel."

I think the simplest answer to your question about uploading photos directly is security. It's not possible on Wordpress or Google's blogspot, either. It's the same reason we can mess with html on our wordpress blogs, but not change our templates with CSS. On a multi-user platform, you don't want someone to end up affecting everyone by uploading changes, viruses, etc.

I upload my photos to an ftp server, which allows me to post them anywhere, either as a link or as the image itself. But even on Wordpress, I can't post any images in comments. No one can. It's a requirement built into the site, for the sake of everyone.

Good morning. Yes, I am still in the realm of the living!

I spent yesterday at doctor's offices! Yes, two appointments, one in the morning, and one in the afternoon (with a different doc). It is so much fun, really! The ophthalmologist declared my eyes to be healed from the damage done by 'dry eye syndrome'. Took out the special 'healing' lenses she had put in, gave me more drops, and sent me home. Problem is that I got up this morning and I barely see out of my right eye! Time for a different doc???
Aside from the eyes issues, we have been busy with errands, a couple of fun 'outings'. We particularly enjoyed our Saturday lunch in Alexandria on the waterfront. People watching was fun, such characters all over the place! I wrote a pictorial story of the little outing for a group I belong to on another site, tried to post it here but I could not directly transfer the photos. To do so I would have to load tons of photos onto photobucket or Wu, and I just do not want to spend a full day doing this. Photos are uploaded one at a time on both sites and I do not have the patience. Why can't we put personal photos on our blogs directly from our personal computer files?
Hubby is happy when he can play golf and he has been doing so whenever our crazy weather permits it! I have been doing some yard work but when it gets stifling to the point that I can't breathe, I come inside and enjoy the AC which has been on for a while now.
Mimi was supposed to start her obedience classes this past Sunday. The times and places were set by the pet store not me, silly people they scheduled the beginning of a series of classes on Memorial weekend. So our schedule had to leave Sunday free for Mimi. Come Sunday I received a phone call from the young man who was the 'trainer' and was told a story, declaring that I had signed up 'soooooooooooooooo long ago that he forgot'! I signed up a couple of weeks ago. And the store gave me the Sunday slot! Anyways, the person was fibbing, and I guess he thought that I am an idiot who would by his lie! The teacher in me came out and I would not accept the prevarication! I cut him off and told him I'd start next week. Actually I am going to the pet store today and cancel this particular session and sign up for a different trainer for a different set of classes. They already have my money and I am close to asking for it back and go elsewhere! Tell me the truth, do not treat me like an idiot!

Thank you so much for visiting me even when I have not been a good 'neighbor' to you. I am so happy that MASS is back! I was so worried about you! TS, Sandi, Bug, BC, Ylee, Mass, I will respond here to your posts and/or visit your blogs as soon as I can. I need to go out food shopping, visit the pet store and straighten them out, get my car brakes looked at, etc etc. Wishing you all a good day!

So you have a thunderstorm watch today, too. We had a little thunder last night, and some good rain this morning. I managed a couple of hours of work, and now I'm in for an hour while things dry out a bit more.

I finally got a photo of my bougainvillea to add to your flower collection here. And Godette has bloomed, at last. I got photos of that, too, but I haven't processed them yet.

Oh. My. Those robins. They have no shame, do they? And you're taking pictures of them! lol

We've got a bit of coolth today, after some temps in the 90's the latter part of this week.

Still no rain. We were supposed to get some last weekend. Nothing happened. We were supposed to get some yesterday or last night. Nada. It all passed us by further up the coast. There's a slim chance Monday but I'd put good money on it that we don't get any at all.

It looks like I'll be pulling out the hose this weekend.

At long last I was finally able to afford the purchase of a new laptop (time payment plan) so to rejoin all of my long lost buddies here on WU!! What an arduous six months it's been both weather-wise and without a computer. Hopefully, a local tech rep will be able to retrieve some of the important doc and pic files remaining on the old desktop. Nevertheless, it's great to be online again, as I've really missed you and our other WU friends and am glad that many are still periodically blogging.

This new fangled windows version and laptop will take some adjustment. It's very sensitive and a bit confusing right now. At least, it comes with six years of free 24/7 tech support. Their phone may soon be ringing off the hook. LOL! I'm also not used to a wireless hookup.

Hope you and Raindad have been doing reasonably well and will have a safe relaxing holiday weekend ahead of you. Love all gorgeous pics you've taken and posted from your yard and gardens. Such a relief to finally see signs of greenery, color again as well as the feel of warmth once more! It's taking us increasingly longer to thaw out from winter these days. LOL.

Have a relaxing and peaceful Memorial Day weekend and look forward to posting with you on a much more regular basis!

Good morning. This morning my computer time will be here on WU.

Good morning Bug. Mimi is a cutie when she wants to be. She was actually smelling the Azaleas! As to Azaleas, I have several varieties that span a long season, starting with the Delaware Whites and ending with a Japanese variety that still has not set buds. Right now I have a beautiful deep pink variety in bloom. Even hubby noticed her beauty! There is also a variety that blooms in Summer, I do not have that variety but my neighbors do. Hubby cuts down the Azaleas severely when I am not looking, I throw a fit when I see him 'trim' the Azaleas. I love them big, branchy, showy! But you are right, pruned or not, they flower their hearts out come Spring.

Sandy, f stands for many things, doesn't it! Yes, my 'Yorkshire Tyke is looking out for my eyes. Often I do need a reminder. There is little improvement with the clarity of my vision. I see the doc again this Friday, we'll see what she has to say.
Mimi starts her 'obedience' lessons this weekend. I doubt that it will make an iota of difference but try we must! She now sleeps curled up by one of us on our bed. So far she has been good at night, hurrah for her. And us.
This weekend our cousins from New York (the ones we met through my genealogy work and who visited with us last Nov.) were in the area for a couple of baseball games between their team and our local team. We met up at a restaurant and had a fabulous time together. It is amazing how sometimes the heart feels those ancient ties that unite us!

Happy Sunday, Pros!

That is an adorable picture of Mimi checking out the azaleas.

Our azaleas finished blooming about six weeks ago and I gave them a badly needed crew cut. They had gotten HUGE. They look awfully scraggly now but they'll fill out soon.

I'm glad to hear that you're still following doctor's orders and limiting your time on the computer. If Raindad isn't around to remind you that you've been onling long enough, try using a kitchen timer.

Hi, Pros! Still under Dr.'s orders? The picture of Mimi sniffing the azaleas is really neat! Was she actually sniffing the flowers or was there something else that captured her attention?

I would imagine rhe rhododendron picture at that zoom doesn't have the detail to capture one's attention like your other wonderful flower pics! Maybe a closeup of an individual bloom?

Good morning! Yes, TS and Sandi, now that you mention it, it does look like an eye. Freud must be smiling!

The huge Rhododendron shrub by my deck is absolutely gorgeous this year. I've posted a photo or two but they did not get much attention. I guess to really appreciate the sense of 'abbondanza' beauty, one needs to see these flowers in person.



Still 'watching' my eyes and following the regimen. If hubby finds me at the computer he 'reminds' me to get off the computer. I am thankful that he does as I tend to forget for the moment and bellyache later. :)

I'm glad to see you're getting at least a little computer time, but it is important to give those heavenly orbs a rest. I laughed at your new dandelion photo. Did it occur to you how much like an eye it looks?

All's well here -- or at least back under control. I had to have Princess's windshield replaced, after being hit by a rock. But that's done, with no problem and only a hundred dollar deductible.

Dixie Rose's wonderful kitty sitter just quit. She's moving to Washington state - day after tomorrow! Oh, woe. But, I've made contact with another woman who works at an animal hospital and who's been doing pet sitting for some years. She sounded personable on the phone, so we'll start out slow, with some short trips, and see how things work out.

And I just walked out and looked at Godette. She has two buds that look viable now, so I think it's pretty clear she's taking root.

And that's the news! Have a good evening, or morning, depending on when you come by.

Sorry to read about your eye problems, but I am glad to see that you are following doctor's orders and not straining your eyes with too much time in front of a computer monitor. I am glad eye strain hasn't prevented you from using your camera and posting a select few photos. Take care of those eyes, the better to see in the future!
