Rob, I too "Hope it ends outside of the margin of litigation." I am so fed up with this particular election! Let's get it over with.

Janet, that's a good joke, I actually laughed. Thank you.

hope this brings a little smile in such a dreary day, for us down here anyway. I notice even though you are on the cool side at least you have the sun.

We did our civic duty early in the day as to beat the rain.

A senior citizen drove his brand new Corvette convertible out of the dealership. Taking off down the road, he floored it to 80 mph, enjoying the wind blowing through what little gray hair he had left. "Amazing," he thought as he flew down I-94, pushing the pedal even more. Looking in his rear view mirror, he saw a state trooper behind him, lights flashing and siren blaring. He floored it to 100 mph, then 110, then 120. Suddenly he thought, "What am I doing? I'm too old for this," and pulled over to await the trooper's arrival. Pulling in behind him, the trooper walked up to the Corvette, looked at his watch, and said, "Sir, my shift ends in 30 minutes. Today is Friday. If you can give me a reason for speeding that I've never heard before, I'll let you go."
The old gentleman paused. Then he said, "Years ago, my wife
ran off with a State trooper. I thought you were bringing her back."

"Have a good day, sir," replied the trooper.

Haven't voted yet. Will go this afternoon when Angie gets home. She's leaving a little early. Usually it's slower in the early evening because of the big retiree population here.

We have color in the little oval with a #2 pencil ballots. Just like what we had for standardized testing in school or for SATs.

There are always plenty of poll workers and it goes pretty fast.
They have a scanner on each side of the exit and you stick your ballot in and you're done. Seems pretty simple and cost effective compared to all those flashy touchscreens that other places are complaining about.

Anyway...thanks for voting.
Hope it ends outside of the margin of litigation.

I'm ready for it to be over too.

Hi NEwxguy, glad you stopped by. It has been a bit much and you are right, it will continue with just a different slant.
So you too had to deal with what I call primitive voting set up. I don't understand the lack of modern technology (you put it well).
I hope your area will not be hit hard by the Nor'easter.

Aqua, hello. Thank you for taking care of my son and please thank your daughter for her help today. It is hard to keep this family sitting still even after surgery! Hopefully Rain will have better sense than I do! Rain, SIT! And use the crutch!
Two voting precincts at the same location, that could turn in a big mess. Yup, arguing has become a highly sought political art.

hi mom- it's kinda crazy here, too- Dau went to the library, where she voted last time? and they said, you're in the wrong place. So she went outside and used her phone to check....well the library is separated into TWO different precincts- she was just on the wrong side of the library!

goodness, but will it all be over soon? I think they will argue and fight till Jan!

Rain is trying to use the cane, but only a little. Tomorrow is his 1st PT and that will begin to increase his faith in himself. Dau is staying with him today, as I must leave for work shortly. All is good here.

Hi,Pros, had to jump and agree with you.Although I love to vote, because it is such an honor to be able to vote for who you would like to represent this country. The campaigning and smearing and harassment, just wears you down.I just hate election years now,in fact it starts a couple years after the election. In such a modern technological country, such primitive ways of voting, using a black marker on a piece of paper.I had black marker all over my hand,by the time I was finished.

Rain, this is perfect! I actually saw this little girl on the news a few nights ago. I joined her with my tears! Well, I was actually mildly swearing!

We voted a short while ago, at Woodson. It took us only 40 minutes from the time we left home to our return home. I am appalled at the primitive set up for voting at this school, only two electrical machines and a few voting by hand booths. The booths are school desks separated by cardboard! No wonder there are so many problems in counting, including the possibility for some dishonest counting! Ah well, so much for a rich county that could afford a better voting set up!

I am glad it is over! I am so tired of the incessant calls, nasty tv ads, horribly skewed mail. Oh my word! Believe it or not, the answering machine just kicked in with a nasty spiel by a young voiced female! You know how I voted, the taped toro I am listening to is from the other party. One of the reasons I refused to vote for them is this kind of nasty and incessant propaganda. Just like the little girl on the video, I sure feel like crying!

Hi Patti, have fun voting. I will venture out to go vote after the rush hour. It is a cold 27 degrees here and do not want to stand in line!

Ylee, I am fine just indolent (as in lazy).
I did not mean to imply that hubby doesn't do enough around here, I was just stating a fact. We have such a humungous leaf raking job that we now need assistance in the Fall cleanup. Most of the leaves are still on the many oak trees in our backyard, as well as a few other species. It will be December by the time that they will fall.

Sandi, having fun is good. I am glad that you will be enjoying this day. Here it will be a busy, as you are aware, it is voting day. It will be interesting to see the final results!

HAPPY VOTING EVERYONE WHO VOTES, HAPPY DAY EVERYONE!

Hi Janet. Yes, I too wonder why people did not evacuate when told to do so. Foolish! The death toll in the NY-NJ area keeps increasing with each passing day. So sad.

As I have mentioned, I have cousins in NJ who were affected by the storm. They have had to endure hardships due to the storm, no gas, no electricity, long waits in line only to be turned away. Acts of kindness however speaks well for human beings. For example a friend showed up at one cousin's house with a can full of gas. The same cousin today got her electricity back and she in turn has opened her now warm house to others who are still without heat.

I have almost given up, once again, on the Redskins. They get nice points on the board and then squander them away! Don't be so sure that your team will come out the loser, the Redskins do some crazy things. I still love the quarterback though!

I just looked at the score (I have the tv by the computer on but on mute) and see that your team is actually ahead!

I hope you & yours are doing well now that the brunt of all that terrible weather has moved on. Our hearts ache for those that were so devistated by the storm. It makes one wonder why more did not pay heed to the warnings, including the HMS Bounty Captain. Just a terrible thing all around.

I see our teams are battling this afternoon. Yours will no doubt win. I think the Panthers have only 1 win so far this season! Bucs aren't doing so well and neither are Jets. About the only one to "write home about" is the Dolphins. So I'm not very 'excited' about this season.

Take care...

Hi Ozgala. I am visualizing Astra dripping mulberry juice! Yes, it will make for an interesting story for the BBQ guests. I love mulberries and used to eat them as a child. We had a mulberry tree here when we lived at the previous house, they made a mess but I didn't care since I had my own private source of the fruit. The veggie diet sounds great but the treats are even better! Both dogs and humans seem to think alike on this matter. LOL
Koko is doing fine right now, the antibiotic is helping to bring back a little of her former vitality.

Ylee, you sure are a hard working man! Hubby is doing a little bit of the Fall clean-up but, once all of the leaves have fallen, we will call someone to come and do the job for us.
We are not looking forward to the next Noreaster headed our way and the already devastated States up North of us. It is cold here as it is in NY and NJ, it is hard for me and I have heat, I cannot imagine how horribly cold it must be for those poor people. So sad.

Hi Shore, welcome home! As we all keep saying, the hardest part of a vacation is coming home to unattended chores, sorting mail, catching up,... It seems that Dixie is a glutton, just like Koko. K too will eat everything in sight within a short period of time. Dogs usually do this but cats are supposed to pace themselves! I guess Dixie is giving you a hard time and makes sure that you do not leave her alone too often! Smart cat.
Please do rest, things will get done little by little, and that's ok. I have not been to your blog (or anyone's blog) to see if you have started to post stories from the latest trip. I will visit soon.

I keep telling myself that I will no longer fuss with time consuming blogs that require research, reading, and writing. But I am working on something and thus breaking my resolve.....

I'm so glad to find both you and Koko in good spirits this morning. I always come back from trips that are at least a week to find Dixie plumper. Apparently she's an "emotional eater" who cleans up every speck of food left for her. That's one reason I have to have a kitty sitting come in daily. I've learned I can't just fill a bowl and go away. She'd finish what was there in one day and have nothing for the next two or three!

It's lovely here, although it's clouding up. We need rain badly, as did everyone along my route last week. I saw way too many dry ponds and seriously low creeks and streams. I'm not sure what the official word is, but we're clearly not out of the drought.

I've heard from or of everyone I know up in Jersey and NY, so that's good. I just read an article about FEMA not having prepositioned water in preparation for the storm. They just put out an invitation for bids yesterday. They are idiots. There. That's the end of that.

Lots to do around here to get caught up, just with daily life. Then, it's on to bloggie chores and maybe another nap. I came home absolutely exhausted for a variety of reasons - time to get myself back in shape!

Glad to hear Koko is better! Astra went back on VERY reduced food rations with LOTS of grated raw carrot and zucchini/courgette yesterday, then I caught P feeding her cake!!!! She has also taken to cleaning up any mulberries that fall from the mulberry tree, and on Sunday we had friends here for a BBQ and they panicked as they thought she was bleeding.....just mulberry juice around her muzzle!
I am sure the children will go home with wonderful memories.

GG, is this Roxie? Hilarious outfit/photo!

Mass, thank you for the Nov. greetings and kind comments. As to the Daylight Saving Time, it did not come early enough for a young lady in nearby MD. She was walking to school yesterday, it was still dark, she was wearing dark clothes, and was hit by a car. She died. Very sad.

Hi Rob, did you get to that stack of paperwork?

Alley, you found a lovely rabbits graphic, really like it. Thank you for the graphic and the wishes.

Hi Sandi, thank you for the Nov. greetings. Are you having a good day? Any news on C's mom?

Weatheringpoints, thank you for the graphic and the wishes. We have another cold day, gloomy, but no rain. Thank goodness.

Ylee, nice graphic, love cats, love the purple colors.

Hi Ozgala, Koko is doing ok today, eating well especially treats! She is alert and demanding, that's a good sign. That's a lot of dogs! Sorry that Astra is also a little old lady. Poor things, it must be so hard on them not understanding what is happening to their failing bodies. Koko is overweight as well, she loves treats and she loves food from the table. Hubby and I created a little monster by giving her tidbits from the table.

Thank you everyone for the Halloween and November greetings.

Last night we had three groups of trick or treaters, that's three groups more than last year when no one came! I was so delighted and gave the kids tons of candy packets! The first group that came was interesting. They are from Korea visiting with their relative who is my neighbor. Their dad kept taking photos as I deposited one candy bar after another in their bags. I just wanted them to have a fun time with the new American experience. By the way, the reason that we have so very few trick or treaters in our area is because of too many stories about sickos who hurt our children. The parents give private parties for the kids instead of sending them out to who knows what!

As I said above, Koko is doing fine today. Last night we both slept well.

Janet and BF you arrived as I was posting. Thank you.

Good Morning, (((PROS)))~

As always, thanks for always gracing us, the first of each month, with a seasonally inspirational poem and lovely creative graphic. They always start the new month off fresh with hope and brighter days!

Thought I'd leave you with my timely, but sadly recycled pic and favorite poem used in the previous couple of years. Hope you enjoy them! Hard to believe, but I'm also leaving you and others a friendly reminder that we go back to earlier darkness, come this Sunday, Nov. 4th @ 2:00 am by turning our clocks back an hour. How I'll miss the prolonged daylight hours and warmth of spring/summer during the chillier winter months ahead. Boo! Hiss! LOL!

May you have a better, healthier month ahead of you and big warm Nov. hugs!

And November goes,
With the last red berries
And the first white snows.

And earth sinks to rest
Until next spring."

Well, here I am, slouching in the recliner, after waking up about an hour ago, and not being able to get to sleep again, came down stairs!

Sipping on the first coffee of the day, and catching up on WU friends.

I am so sorry dear KoKo is not well again. Our furry children's do give us some sleepless nights and heartache, just like non-furry children do! Hope she feels a little better today, as do you.

Well, it is the first of November, the penultimate month of 2012 - where on earth has this year gone? I for one will be glad when it is over, as it has been a memorable year, in many ways, for me! 2013 should be better, at least I should be able to get out and about with my camera, and if I wake up in the middle of the night, I should be able to get dressed and set off to watch the sun rise over the sea! Well, why not :-)

So I wish you White Rabbits and a very happy month, safe and secure in your home, with good health for everyone :-)

WHITE RABBITS, WHITE RABBITS, WHITE RABBITS!

Glad to hear you can get back to doing more "normal" things! Hope Koko is feeling better, we have five dogs and our "oldie" Astra is thirteen at New Year but is struggling at the moment, she is very short of breath and has developed seperation anxiety when I leave her, she has hip dysplasia and is prone to put on weight (aren't we all!) but my normal diet for her is not working this time which is a worry. Our much loved vet has retired recently and the new crew although very nice seem to have a philosophy of here give her a pill and I am not sure it is the best answer for her! She and I have just come in from a hour in the garden and she is fast asleep (snoring gently) at my feet and looks so peaceful I am very envious!
Take care.

(((Pros)))!

So glad to learn that you, too, have made out okay post/hurricane, but sorry to read about the decline of your beloved dog, Koko. Hope that the pills prescribed by her VET, along with the love and comfort you bring, will help her along in the weeks/months to come.

I also hope that your relatives, living in New Jersey, are all safe, will soon all be accounted for and are somehow able to get in touch with you and others real soon. Naturally, I'd be quite anxious and "frazzled", too, having lived in one of the states that just took the full brunt and destruction of this vicious hurricane!

This past year has really imposed so many more personal, health or weather-related challenges for way too many. I'm glad we have a close WU family to turn to during stressful times for much needed emotional support or a lift! It helps to know each of us is not alone and can provide helpful information, by our individual experiences, if needed.

I can't believe that your area hasn't canceled and rescheduled "Trick or Treat" till, at least, this weekend! Our town, thankfully, rescheduled it for early Saturday night. Hubby and I will probably be asleep with the shades drawn, lights out and blankets pulled over our heads. LOL! Not ready for Halloween revelers this year. Baaa Humbug.

I've finally got caught up on all the rescheduling of appointments and other personal administrative matters that needed to be done or submitted by today. WHEW! My November calendar is filled to the brim, so it looks like there won't be many dull moments in the weeks ahead. At least, tomorrow afternoon, Nov. 1st, I've finally found the time to make it to a hairdresser's appointment. YEAH! I really need to shear off some of this lengthy geriatric hippy look I've got going on. LOL! I suddenly realized it had been five months since my last visit. How time flies when you're having fun ... eh?

Again, thanks for your posted concern earlier and the lovely creative Halloween graphic you've displayed. Much appreciated! Thought I'd leave you with an apropos recycled one I created a year or two ago. Wanda the Wuber Witch and I have so much in common right now. LOL! May you and yours stay safe, feel better, big warm hugs and I'll try to get back online again after some good eats and a much needed nap.

Just came back from the vet's, once again Koko is cause for alarm. About one am when hubby brought K up to the bedroom we noticed blood all over the rug (lots of white sections on the Oriental rug, oh well). I discovered that she has a wart like growth on her rear paw that is bleeding. Yes, I was up all night with K.

The vet said that he will not do much of anything given her age and her Cushings Disease. He did give her an antibiotic shot, and prescribed a powder to dry the paw, antibiotic pills, and pain pills. He listened to the heart and it is strong, so we will make her comfortable. She is not ready to repose in my garden, and definitely neither am I. The vet agrees that she could have a few more decent months.

I have heard from one cousin who lives in NJ, she is ok but frazzled. Two other cousins who also live in the hard hit areas of NJ are still silent on FaceBook. Hopefully it is just a power outage.
I am always amazed and grateful that cousins in Italy and Australia always check on us when they read about bad stuff happening in my area. Of course I have reassured them all that we are just fine.

Now that we are back home from the vet's, we need to clear the driveway and pathway to our door (fallen leaves and other debris from the storm) so that our trick or treaters will be safe tonight.

Hi Bogon, Sandi, GG, Janet, Ozgala, Bug, Alley, Kat, Rob, thank you for stopping by and thank you for the Halloween greetings. I'll come by your blogs with a greeting, a photo of my Fall painting and a few decorations superimposed. Hugs for everyone.

Maria, glad to hear that you are all safe. A few trees is nothing to pay a storm like Sandy as long as you are ok. So glad you did not lose any hydro too. At least you were able to stay nice and warm throughout the bad weather. Just be very careful venturing out of the house today. Until work crews go around the neighbourhood making sure all is safe, its best to stay indoors.

Thinking of you dear one.

A nap sounds like a good plan.
I can't sleep during storms either. If the house is secure, get some rest. No need to be up or out and about at the moment.
Glad you are okay and can breathe a big sigh and let the stress go.

Rest well friend.

Hi Sandi with an I, Ylee, Hurigo, Spathy, GG, Patti, Karen, Ozgala, Rob, Aqua, Shore, Alley, Mass, Laura so good to know that there are people out there who care. Thank you. (I hope that I did not miss someone's name).

Power still on! I have a buddy on FB who lives a few miles up from me, he is without power and it is cold. Yes, temperatures are low in this area, with heat not a problem, no heat.... Hit and miss power outages in this area.

Hurigo, glad that you and your area made it through ok. I hope all of our other WU people up and down the Coast are ok too.

I tried to sleep last night but could not and so I think I will try to go take a nap. Hubby moved from the recliner downstairs to our bed upstairs, and is sleeping like a baby!

Be well everyone.

Oh, I am so glad 'I' didn't take your electricity, and you have survived the night.
Hopefully, when daylight comes, the damage outside is not too bad!

Glad You all made it through the night with your power! Yippee!

Do not apologise for your rant; the man is a fool, and deserves the full force of your Red Ant Fire! :)

Hope you can get out and about today; the worst for you, I believe, has passed! :)
