The Heat Index didn't drop off the charts until 3am, when it was 84° The temperature is still falling slowly, from 75° at 5am to 70° now at 6.45am.  Since then Δ T is increasing

at 11.20am the H.I ≈ 102 | T ≈ 92 and the Heat Advisory hasn't even started yet!

The National Weather Service in Shreveport has issued Heat Advisory, which is in effect Saturdayfrom Noon until 9 PM.

Today will be about the same as yesterday  ≈ 103° ±3°
The sunburnt necks will blister, so try to be a good little cowboy and park it!

UV Index 11+: Extreme

A UV Index reading of 11 or higher means extreme risk of harm from unprotected sun exposure. Try to avoid sun exposure during midday hours, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Apply sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15 liberally every 2 hours.
Take all precautions. Unprotected skin can burn in minutes. Beachgoers should know that white sand and other bright surfaces reflect UV and will increase UV exposure.
Try to avoid sun exposure between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Seek shade, cover up, wear a hat and sunglasses, and use sunscreen.
It is possible to go outside when the UV Index is 11 or higher. Make sure you always seek shade, wear a hat, cover up, wear 99-100% UV-blocking sunglasses, and use sunscreen. Or you can opt to stay indoors and take the opportunity to relax with a good book rather than risk dangerous levels of sun exposure.

last week were reports about a very powerful solar storm.

"The solar flare peaked at about 12:50 p.m. ET as an X-class sun storm, the most powerful type of flare the sun can have.  X-class solar flares are the strongest type of storms that occur on the sun. When aimed at Earth, the most powerful X-class flares can endanger satellites and astronauts in space, interfere with navigation and communications signals, and damage power system infrastructure."

I never zoom above 150% on a snoozing woman. "There be Dragons!"
Did find something pretty close to the "Umbrella" and posted it a while ago on my blog.
Pay attention!
Just kidding. I'll go look for it - I should know what it is anyway.

I thought you liked Ginta! we didn't have any rain? And as for painting her, that is a NON nude photo. She has been on many Vogue Magazine covers, and is a Super Model. They don't pose nude. They make more money clothed! They advertise clothing and a myriad of products. I like that photo mainly because, even though it looks like she's partially nude in a bed of roses... unless you zoom in 300% you will not see her fleshtone pantyhose. OK? Did you find the name of those huge leafed plants you called umbrella plants?

Excess! Me?
"I'll put Ginta Lapina back again today"
Though I'm sure it has been done somewhere it seems to me it would be difficult to paint that lady.
Glad you received some rain. We had a sprinkle t'other day. We are not under any drought condition but this island is designed to shed rain and a few days of sun and wind put me on edge.

I'm still getting "unknown view" from the cut and paste.
Now Dat's a Mood!
Reminds me of the security guards at:
http://www.sacred-destinations.com/cambodia/angko r-banteay-srei
We were too lazy to get out there before the heat and everyone, including the security, was snoozing in what shade they could find. Turned out that the only shade was on the top of the perimeter wall.
Cut and paste does not work with most of my links either but there is enough information so that one can Google the source.

Good morning OrangeRoses:
But I am somewhat confused:there is a comment from you on my iPod but not here or on my blog. I think I know what happened and I'll track it after I get home stunned by sun.

Supposed to be a Casablanca Lily, very rare. Quite pretty. Didn't notice any solar flare effects but I could examine the scientific data on the Space Weather sites. Hope you're not floating out to sea on a raft! Thanks for your input.

That flower is a stargazer- the yellow one has a very good smell. it takes a year before it grows another flower. and its hard to propagate. I did not know there's going to be sun flare today? we have had lots of rains and most places are inundated.

I need more nice reviews like yours YCD. I am bracing myself for a possibility the strong solar flare may slow internet speed and even turn television fuzzy when it arrives at  6am EST Saturday.
