The post midnight(7 hours) wind speed averaged 14mph and temperature stayed close to 70°F. Then it all changed after sunrise with a Tornado Watch & High Wind Advisory! Prior to Noon the temperature began a rapid 16°F. decline 40 minutes beforehand to a 24 hour low, and the average wind speed jumped to 24mph. We had a cold front approaching and the wind calmed 32mph from its daily gust peak of 36mph to 4mph— in 140 minutes. During this time it began to rain with 0.5 in. total as of this posting.

Discussion: Did the colder air plan this to happen at noon? So many rapid fluctuations in the data in such a short time might make us think so. The all night Wind from the South met her sister Wind from the West at noon. How did they know when? The southern wind knew there was a huge markdown on wind gauges and Fashion Watches at a major department store west of here and blew constantly all night waiting. Her sister bought her a watch and met her at noon. And you see the Wind from the South stopped to take a break and let her sister take over at precisely noon, mixing and calming gently slowly. Φ

After 1 lovely Friday, with record-breaking high temps in the 60's-low 70's(depending once again on whose thermometer), absolutely gorgeous skies painted with cirrus cloudfeathers, we are now back to hazy overcast and cooler temps. Another eXtreme cold package of air is here to chill us out. Tonight the lows will be around 20° F | -6.66° C | 266° K ! Φ

Temps predicted to warm to mid 50's F., presently 50° F. With an overnite low 25°F. that would make a 30° change in temperature - delta t(δt or dt) Φ

In a word...brrr. Cold temps overnite- low 20's and 30's F. Will update this entry tomorrow with the available data.

Update: Low temps vary, depending on which source used.
23°F | -5°C Airport to 20.8°F | -6.2°C Fuller Farms PWS. Other data sources are either offline or higher due to radiational warming from urban buildings (29.5°F | -1.4°C). The lesson learned is temperatures vary depending on the location of the measuring instruments.
A simple indoor/outdoor thermometer with a probe outside might be just as accurate!
