Sunk Ape or Swamp Ape

I will start this blog about an area that I know best. I lived in Sarasota, Fl for nineteen years. Our favorite get a way place was Myakka State Park. What a beautiful place to get away from all the tourism. Hubby and I would head out early on a Saturday morning and spend most of the day. This is an area of swamp, dry pine flats and lots and lots of land with the Myakka River running through it. You can hike forever and see no one. This whole river area drains south into the Peace River and eventually into the Gulf of Mexico. There are huge trees covered with bromeliads and Butterfly Orchids. it is an area of tons of land and areas where few people ever go. Wild hogs, deer, and even the Florida Panther roam through this wild place.

Over the years there have been reports of sightings of a Sunk Ape in the Myakka area. A horrible smell surrounds sightings of this large primate. Could it be a huge primate that perhaps escaped from a circus. Ringling Bros has been in Sarasota County for many years. If so does this animal mate? Where are the bones from its' skeleton when it dies? What do you think?

In 2010 a woman in Eastern Orange County (ORLANDO ) saw a Skunk Ape in her front yard. The ape growled at her and hurriedly headed back into the woods. Is she making this up?? She called this in immediately to the Orange County Sheriff.
The sheriff deputies checked this out but found no trace of the ape. Not even a footprint.

This came from our friend Rob on Grand Manan.

Have a yarn about the Sasquatch, on Lake Winnipeg there are a few rivers that run est to west, in particular the Berens River. At the mouth of the river is the Berens River Reserve approx. 90 miles inland is Little Grand Rapids. The trade route on the river involved portages, at each portage the natives give gifts of tobacco to MEMQUESHI (phonetic). They did not proceed beyond the point of the offering till it was accepted, and always was. A longer story in there of course, but an indication the being has a wide range in North America lore.

Thanks for this interesting input Rob.

I have wanted to read this book after getting home from Yosemite. I wanted to see how many of places we visited had been visited by Carole Sund, her daughter's friend, Silvina and her daughter Juli. I am just in the beginning of the book and it is very scary to me. Because yes we traveled the same roads. They came to the park from San Francisco and so did we. I will tell you more as I read more.As the investigation into the deaths of the Sund women and their yo...

ONE FLYING LEAP, A PILOTS STORYHave you ever thought about leaving a job you have had for thirteen years and taking a chance doing something that you have always wanted to do. This is what my son did. He was a senior news producer for Fox 13 in Tampa. He loved his job and was very good at doing it but something kept tugging at his heart. He had grown up with a dad that loved planes and loved to fly. At the age of six on a trip to Fort Jefferson in the Dry Tortu...
