First snow of the season in Grand View, Wisconsin
|By: NamekagonNotebook, 12:56 PM GMT on October 21, 2013||+0|
We had our first snowfall of the season yesterday evening, with about 1" staying overnight on leaf covered areas in the woods. I'm located in the Chequamegon National Forest at the top of the Great Divide of Northern Wisconsin. It has been much colder than normal in these parts with overnight temperatures below freezing for the last few days. With the leaves down off of the trees, we can see into the woods and fully appreciate the damage from the August 26 tornado that devastated areas in the Cable/Namekagon/Grand View area. It is very wet, following about 3" of rain we've had in the last week. We have kept a fire going all day in the stove for the last week, which is unusual for this time of year.
