With spring starting this year,it will only show on the calendar.Weather will stay in winter mode, with repeated shots of arctic air.Currently in one on those cold outbreaks, and another is set for end of next weekend and early next week.No end in sight

March 18th
Pretty much the same ole weather pattern. With spring starting Thursday afternoon,it doesn't mean much as I see the same thing as we've seen all winter.A quick day of warm temps then another shot of arctic air.

March 19th
Warmup into the weekend, with a couple of shots of rain, tonight and again saturday, before we get another shot of below normal temps starting Sunday into early next week.

March 20th
Springs arrives shortly after noon today, and actually going to feel like it today. After some rain during the night, should be up in the 50's today.Slight cool down tomorrow, before more 50's on Saturday, then more much below normal temps on Sunday and Monday, then we have to watch a coastal storm threaten late Tuesday into Wednesday.
March 21st
It touched 50 yesterday, but with the strong winds, didn't feel like it,and today will be in the 40's,but feel much cooler.
Warm day on Saturday with showers, before the arctic air moves back in.Watching a major coastal storm for late Tuesday into Wednesday.Uncertain how close a pass it will make.Won't know until probably Sunday at the earliest.

OVER THE ERN HALF OF THE CONUS EXPECT A BROAD AREA OF HIGHS 10-25F
BELOW NORMAL MON-WED WITH PERHAPS SLIGHTLY LESS COVERAGE OF SUCH
EXTREMES FOR MIN TEMPS. SHRTWVS FEEDING INTO THE AMPLIFYING ERN
TROUGH ALOFT SHOULD GENERATE A BAND OF LGT TO PSBLY MDT SNOW
ACROSS PARTS OF THE MIDWEST/OH VLY INTO CNTRL APLCHNS MON-TUE WITH
THE DEVELOPING WRN ATLC STORM EXTENDING THE POTENTIAL FOR SNOW
FROM PORTIONS OF THE MID ATLC INTO THE NORTHEAST TUE-WED. E OF
THE APLCHNS ACCUMULATIONS WILL LIKELY DEPEND ON THE TIME OF DAY
SNOWFALL OCCURS AS WELL AS TRACK OF THE SFC LOW. AREAS NEAR THE E
COAST WILL ALSO HAVE TO MONITOR IMPACTS FROM STRONG WINDS
PRIMARILY LATE TUE INTO WED NIGHT. FARTHER SWD THE FL PENINSULA
MAY SEE A PERIOD OF LOCALLY MDT-HVY RNFL AROUND MON-TUE.

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR NORTHERN CONNECTICUT...ALL
OF MASSACHUSETTS EXCEPT BERKSHIRE COUNTY...SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE
AND RHODE ISLAND.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER IS NOT EXPECTED AT THIS TIME.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...SATURDAY THROUGH THURSDAY.

THERE IS POTENTIAL FOR A SIGNIFICANT COASTAL STORM TUESDAY NIGHT
INTO WEDNESDAY. THERE IS HIGH CONFIDENCE A COASTAL STORM WILL
DEVELOP...BUT LOW CONFIDENCE ON ITS EXACT TRACK. IMPACTS ON
SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND WILL GREATLY DEPEND ON HOW CLOSE THIS STORM
TRACKS TO OUR REGION. AT THIS TIME...THE GREATEST RISK FOR STRONG
WINDS AND SIGNIFICANT SNOW ACCUMULATION IS ACROSS CAPE COD AND
THE ISLANDS. A SUBTLE SHIFT IN STORM TRACK OF LESS THAN 100 MILES
FARTHER WEST WOULD MEAN A GREATER IMPACT ACROSS MORE OF SOUTHERN
NEW ENGLAND.

Yeh,People across the northern areas aren't going to see any bare ground for a while, unless there's an extreme warmup, which I don't see in the cards anytime soon

Signs of spring.
Robins all over my yard this morning, and lots of bare ground showing up on everyone's yard.

About a 1/3 of an inch or rain, last night, still over an inch deficit for the month.
Turns out precip was below normal for the winter, and obviously below normal temperature wise.

Well,as we all know winter 2013-14 does not want to end.Eventhough the next few days will be around or a little above normal, more cold air is poised to dive into the northern states, then add on a possible major winter storm for the middle of next week. This will add insult to injury.
Keep in mind this is still 7-8 days away,so absolutely nothing written in stone, but, there is the potential.

Going to be one of those stories that will go on for a long while until someone stumbles over some evidence of the plane.

I'm sure everyone had been following the strange case of the missing airliner. There are theories all over the place about this disappearance.
They are focusing on the pilot and copilot, but what I don't understand is if either of these two did this committing suicide or making a political statement, why isn't there a note somewhere or blog or something, but nothing.

Hi,Looking,
You echo what I hear from everyone, this winter is endless. So tired of the cold. And it looks to continue for the rest of the month.Occasional brief warmup, then the arctic air reenergizes and we are back in the cold.Which is what happens next weekend, another shot of cold air starting Sunday.

I am so sick of this cold...following my heart surgery I am supposed to take lots of short walks every day and I so wish I could go outdoors to do them. But the cold isn't that great for my body while it is in recovery, so I just stroll around the house--and around, and around, and around--and there isn't that much room in our condo to go very far in any direction! I've lived in Cambridge since 1961 and I do not remember a winter that hung on so long with the cold. There have been winters with more snow, but not this endless cold. Yuk! Of course in a few months I will doubtless be complaining of heat!

Hi,Jus,
Everythings good for another year.Got my pneumonia shot, was pretty sore as the vaccine was going in,but I didn't cry,I was a good boy.
No no peas, still have a couple of inches of snow and the ground is probably frozen a couple of feet, and no big warmup in sight, other than a couple of days here and there.

Good luck with your tests today. Least you didn't have to drink instant coffee, lol, which is all they have here at jury duty. It's worse than none at all!
Still cold there, too huh? Did you plant your peas? What's the latest you've ever planted them?

It's incredible that we have another cold air plunge coming in after Sunday's system moves through.

I got another 2" of snow today.

Wednesday looks to feature some interior New England/Middle Atlantic snow and ice.
