January weather in March

March 11th
So models have trended north and low pressure looks to pass right over the Boston area,so for most of this system it will be rain. But the backlash after the system moves off the coast will drop the temps rapidly and we could get a quick inch of snow and a flash freeze,so we have to be alert on what happens Thursday morning.

March 12th
Mostly rain coming later today and this evening. The real trouble comes after midnight.Temps are going to come crashing down from around 50 to around 20 by dawn.Expect a few inches of snow, but the real problem is the sudden freezing of all the water from the rains.Roads are going to be ice rinks.
Tomorrow will be like a mid January day.

March 13th
So we got almost 3/4 of an inch of rain last night, but the cold air has come rushing in and changed to snow.We have snow moderate at times and temps around 17 degrees

March 14th
Cold start, but quick warmup.Warm day tomorrow, then cold air rushes back in Saturday night and Sunday.

Morning,Jus.
Yeh,spring is just around the corner, which corner is the problem, every corner I've turned this winter has been colder.
My tulip bulbs must be getting tired of waiting and try to push through the snow and ice anyway.

NEw, looks like this morning you are getting some good "back end" snows.--On a sports note, congrats on the Pats getting Reevis--Jet fans will hate that!

Just as I wrote the above post, the wind has started picking up from the NNW at 10-15mph. Temp. is now 40F. And the barometer went down to 29.03"!

Pretty much of an un-impressive storm here. Some rain, little wind so far, but that should change as it turns around to the NW. Thursday should have 15-25mph winds and gusts to about 40. My Barometer got down to 29.04", now is up to 29.07" so I guess I won't break the 29.00" barrier. I'll get rain amounts around mid-night.

I was just informed that Friday is Pi day.
I always forget these big holidays.

Eat pi foods. Eating pi foods may be the easiest and the most fun way to celebrate pi. If you're in school, everyone can bring in a pi-themed food for a pi-pot luck, and if you're just celebrating with friends, you can all enjoy a pi-themed meal together. Here are some creative ideas for pi-related foods:

Eat any type of pie. Try key lime pie, pumpkin pie, pecan pie, or apple pie.
Put the pi symbol on a variety of cookies, pies, and cupcakes. You can even make the foods in advance and write pi on them in icing in a big group.
Make a pie day pie in honor of the special day.
Take the punny approach. Eat pineapple, pizza, or pine nuts, and drink piņa coladas or pineapple juice.
Use the shape method. Make cookies, cakes, loaves of bread, or pancakes that are shaped like pi.
Pi foods don't have to be limited to desserts. Eat shepherd's pie or chicken pot pie.

Still have 3 or 4 inches of snow on the ground, but more and more bare ground is starting to show up on edges of road and along the sidewalks. Now if we can stay away from snowstorms,we could have snow gone before the end of the month, and I can get my peas in.

Great news on your recovery from Open heart surgery , "sheslookingUP", Sounds about right for your recovery time table. That's just about what happened to me. Every day you'll feel stronger. Walking is very important, so follow doctor's orders on that for sure.

GM,looking,
Happy to hear you came through it without complications.
Hopefully the weather will be improving around the time you can start taking walks. There are signs that we are turning the corner on our weather, but not out of the woods yet.

Well, I got home two days ago from my open-heart surgery, thank goodness, and all seems well--except that I haven't been outside yet (still too much effort to go down--and then UP--the stairs to the ground floor)--and I'm really sorry to miss these early breaths of spring air! I expect in another week or so I will be able to walk up and down the street for my daily prescribed walks. The back yard is a mess, still icy and snowy, so no going back there yet. Recovery is supposed to be about six weeks so that should put it right about a perfect time to be outdoors. I can't wait!
