Feb.19th
After a long weekend,in which I spent two of the days clearing snow, back for a short week.We have a warmup starting today lasting until Saturday, then the artic air comes back and possible coastal storms again. For those of you tired of winter, this brief break is welcome, but it won't last. Two possible rain events, late today and again on Friday.Far northwest areas my have a period of freezing rain to contend with at the start of each rain event.Northern areas will see more snow later today and this evening.

Feb.20th
After a chilly night below freezing this morning, with lots of ice and frozen slush around, temps should rebound pretty quickly and most of the frozen stuff should be gone by afternoon. This will be the best day for the foreseeable future.Tomorrow will be around 50,but heavy showers will move in in the afternoon.Tonight we may see some snow/sleet/and freezing rain until morning. Then a slow cool down this weekend and return to below normal temps next week.

Feb.21st
Snow melt the next couple of days, before winter sets back in for next week.Cold returns starting late Sunday and two chances for snow.First is late Sunday,at least a few inches, but with all coastal storms track and strength is critical, does not look major at this time, then once the arctic air settles in we turn our eyes to midweek coastal event, which could be a major snowfall, but still way too early to start making any big predictions. We'll just have to wait until early next week for models to get better data.

Going to be a large area from the Plains to the East coast that are going to be effected by a very large and strong storm system moving up through the western Great Lakes.

A powerful storm moving across the central U.S. will bring a threat of severe weather from the Ohio Valley to the Gulf of Mexico, with the greatest risk from northern Miss. across western parts of Tenn. and Kentucky. The northern part of the system will bring a threat of freezing rain from the Great Lakes to New England and heavy snow across the Upper Midwest, with blizzard conditions in MN & IA.

Our streets are a wreck down here. Noticing a lot of heaving going on with the recent warmer temps. To go back ice cold once more is really going to do things in.

Its been a long tough winter, and with a tough winter snow is not the only thing we have to contend with.
1.Potholes=They are really starting to get big,and more numerous, its getting harder and harder to avoid them.
2.Snow is really building up on the roofs, getting time to remove some of the snow.Although the rain and warmer temps the next couple of days should get rid of most of the snow on the roofs.
3. Ice Dams=speaking of roofs, ice dams are a common thing when you look at everyone's roof, this can cause water to back up under the shingles causing water to leak in around windows and ceilings.
4.Pets=Slush and sand combine to make them a mess and its a huge effort to clean them off before coming into the house. Not to mention the salt on the roads is tough on their paws.
5. Snow banks as plows continue to pile the snow on the corners of streets,it gets more difficult to see the oncoming traffic when leaving side streets.
6. And with all this snow and catch basins not getting cleared, with rain comes lots of road flooding.

Going to be a wide variety of weather over the next 10 days.
First we enter a mild period, then back into the deep freeze to end February. Not certain of storm systems once we are back in the arctic air.
