Dec. 16th,
A few more days of winter and then we get a brief warmup end of week into the weekend. The weekend looks to be unsettled with a mixed bag of precip.
On Saturday nights storm we received around 8 inches, but then it turned to rain around dawn and we ended up with 6 inches of heavy snow. Then temps dropped from 32 at 8 am to 21 by 9 am and there was a flash freeze.Another system, this time a clipper system may dump a few more inches on us Tuesday and Tuesday night with two different clipper systems. How much we get is determined by where these two systems form and when the energy explodes.

Dec.17th
Quick hitting storm today.expecting 2-4 inches in boston area, but it all depends on how quickly this system deepens as its making its pass, along the coast could see up to 6 inches if this strengthens quickly.
Certainly northeast Mass and NH and Maine coasts could get a quick 6 inches or a little more.
Then a warming trend sets in starting Thu.,weekend weather is still up in the air,but we have some form of precip to contend with.

Dec.18th
Another quick hitting snowstorm for New England.Dumped 6 inches of fluffy snow on us late yesterday and first part of the evening.
Today will be cold and then a warmup starts tomorrow.
Maybe hitting 40,and possibly around 50 on Friday.Unsettled over the weekend, with Sunday possibly hitting 60 if the cold air in Canada doesn't leak down. Also could be some periods of rain.

Dec.19th
warmer temps infiltrating our area finally, but the battle between artic air and warmer temps this weekend, some areas with rain, some areas may have to contend with ice.

Dec. 20th
I will be out until after Christmas Holiday,so I want to wish all my WU friends a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday.
Our weather looks to be cold and dry,so people traveling in our area should have no problems. This weekend New England will have a wide variety of weather, from very warm conditions and rainy Sat. and Sunday in the southern new england, while northern areas will see snow to freezing rain and Maine could have a serious icing situation. So will have to monitor this as it develops this weekend.Everyone stay safe for the holidays.

Your sweet dog has a nice routine with you and your wife. I love the night routine! Someday Mimi may choose to do something similar, right now she is a biting machine!

Wishing you and yours a Merry Christmas and a new year full of hope, love, kindness, health....

Yeh,I've seen some of the predictions, and it definitely looks bad.Could be a serious issue, especially for central Maine.

Yeah we just have the leftover plow berms and piles. They will be gone.

Just 10 miles to my north the snow depth picked up considerably as a result of those couple of small storms. Nothing amazing... 2-4" in places but we have none now.

Looks like a horrific ice storm could be hitting all of northern New England from this incoming event now. HPC has some really high percentages out for damaging totals...and bufkit printouts showing some eye popping potential as well.

Pcro,
I want to get the snow off my roof.I don't think our warmup will be enough to get rid of all the snow, but should shrink the snowpack quite a bit.Your 70 should get rid of all your snow.

I am not digging the warm up. I would if there was yard work to be had. I guess I could "find" something. It will be muddy an stink out there though.

Thunderstorm threat for us is real for Sunday late. Pushing 70F with 65F depoints.. yeah it's out of bounds.

Seems some threats in the pipeline for Dec 28, Jan 1, Jan 3-4. None are all that impressive on the maps but they are there.

models hinting at a possible holiday storm, but too far away to hang your hat on it.
looks like a warm rain this weekend, northern areas could get into some ice if enough cold air filters down from the north.

Yep,all is well, the worst part of driving home in heavy snow is trying to stay out of the way of the idiots out there.
One would think people living in new england know how to drive in the snow,I.E. take it slow, well some folks, don't quite understand this.

Well, I see you did make it home safe. Now you'll warm up just in time to do it all again. I'll bet it was a trip watching Belle. So...looks like all is well. That's good!

So a rough ride home from work last night. What is normally a 15 minute ride turned into a one hour ride, with cars stuck on hills, which caused me to get stuck a couple of times, bumper to bumper traffic.
We ended up with 6 inches of fluffy snow you could just sweep off the cars.
Belle loved it,she was running around jumping into the snow banks and running through the powder or I should say bouncing through the snow like a jack rabbit.Pretty funny.
Think we're going to have to rename her snowbelle for the winter.

Hi NE.

Looks like the first disturbance is now cranking south of Long Island and you'll get your classic clipper-turned-storm surprie.

For us further south the RAP has the 2nd disturbance winding up and we potentially get a strong banding situation for a few hours this evening.

Win/Win?

What started out as more of a nuisance storm is evolving into a pretty good snowstorm for her in eastern and northeastern new england.

radar echos earlier looked scattered, but now showing signs of filling in,so looks like steadier snow is going to continue and get heavier as the afternoon wears on.
