Chilly mornings and cool days seem to be the forecast for the first part of this week.Probably won't get out of the 40's tomorrow. Then the week end's warm and wet.Hopefully the showers hold off until after trick or treating. Then this weekend we move back into cool below normal weather.
Oct.29
Still looking for a strong system late Thursday into Friday.Much warmer temps on Friday and Saturday, before we cool down again Sunday into next week.
Oct.30
A quick burst of warm air rushes in for tomorrow and Friday.Friday actually will get into the 70's,but there will also be some heavy showers and strong winds.
Oct.31st
Well,I had to get away from weather for a little while after a happy ending to the baseball season.Congrats to the Redsox,a bunch of very likeable guys that overcame great pitching to grind it out.So many story lines to this season.A very special championship season.

Nov.1st
So we start off the new month with some wild and warm weather.Currently strong winds buffeting us before a strong cold front comes through with heavy showers and strong wind gusts.Temps into the 70's and dewpoints in the 60's.Sharp drop off in temps starting Sunday.

Rain is just about done. A few widely sc. showers out there and still breezy, but nothing like this morning.
Did not get much rain,so those predicted heavy downpours never got to us.They just can't seem to figure out where it will rain and if the showers will fade out.

Trick or treaters got started late last night and only lasted from about 7 to 8,so not a big crowd. Not sure why so few,it was warm and rain was not occurring.
Most of the storms reported in the warning above seem to have weakened, but wind is still blowing strong. One more batch of showers coming through around 2pm and then it should start to let up.

So October goes into the record books, and for the first time in a long time we didn't have any large damaging storms of snow or rain. After Sandy last year,we need a break.
We ended up above normal, but the last 10 days were below normal,so it could have been much above normal.
Extremely dry, continuing our pattern that started around the end of July.
Tropical season never got started,a few harmless storms mostly out at sea, eventhough it officially doesn't end until November 30th,its over.
We turn back the clocks one hour early Sunday morning,so sunset Sunday will be 4:34 pm

Have a great weekend! I'm booked solid again and can't see straight :/ ugh! Enjoy it for me.

Hi NEw and happy TGIF first of Nov.!

Last night, the inclement weather came a bit earlier than anticipated and, once again, deterred many kids around here from trick or treating. It seems strong rain or windstorms have become more of of an annual event around here than Halloween itself.

Glad to see that the posted wind advisory below indicates the much stronger wind gusts staying further south of us. So nice to feel those 70F degree outdoor temps again, but hopefully no one ends up paying a steep price. Thankfully, this particular go round, Mother Nature has acted mostly in our favor by removing many of the windswept leaves off of the branches and out of the yard. Unfortunately, the gusts have now strengthening to where a few large tree branches have broken off into the yard. Oddly enough, the sun just broke out amongst the darkened clouds. What next? LOL! What a great way to start off this new month! Welcome to autumn in New England!

Take care if you decide to go into Boston for the big parade tomorrow. Despite all the added security measures in place, there are still reckless miscreants out there who could care less about the safety of the general public.

Thanks,Jus and Ylee,we are a pretty happy area right now.
It doesn't heal those who are still suffering from the bombing, but it does pick up our spirits.
Tomorrow's parade should be crazy, trying to decide if I want to go in,expecting a million people.

I heard some complaints on some of the reporting that Boston is over using the Boston Strong thing.People outside our area have to understand that the Marathon Bombing really shookup our whole area, then the shootout with the bombers in nearby suburbs, then we had the neverending story of former Patriots Aaron Hernandez, just recently the tragic murder of a young school teacher by one of her students. The bad news has been non-stop,so to have such an unexpected uplifting story from our ball team, especially after a nightmare year last year,we are celebrating a little extra. You'll just have to bear with us.

Though tonight's nasty weather (in our region) may dampen the spirits of some evening ghosts and goblins, I thought I'd post some of my former Halloween creations along with a couple of nostalgically related tunes to liven up this longtime tradition. ENJOY!

Hi,Mass,
A great night for our area, certainly helps to get our minds off the events of the past year. What a great group of guys, you can't help but like.
Tonight and tomorrow are the stormy times,so the parade should be ok for Saturday.

Good Morning, NEw!

So, I guess the more seasoned Red Sox batters really Wacha'ed, learned and capitalized on those lesser pitches thrown by this young St. Louis ace last night. This go round, I'd have to say the scrappier team managed to win the World Series. So happy that DH David Ortiz ("Big Papi") rightfully won the MVP award and should be named Captain of the team should he play next season. His leadership, compassion, experience and talent went a long way toward the Sox's winning season and in keeping Boston Strong these past six months.

If we make it through the stormy effects of Friday night intact, (some 50 mph wind gusts are indicated) I guess Saturday will be the time to 'cue the Duck Boats' for a well deserved, time honored, celebratory Red Sox parade through some of the downtown streets of Boston and the Charles River!

Have a safe ride home tonight, as it's also Halloween! Trick or treaters might be milling about and ringing doorbells in your neighborhood.

So they did it.Looking back to spring training,no one saw this coming. They were just so good at coming up with a big hit when they needed it.
After a really rough year with a lot of tragedy in the area, they were able to lift our spirits, and to a player they always reached out to those who suffered this year.I stand up and give them all a standing ovation.

Thanks,LT
Great to watch them come through. Last night kind of mirrored what they've done all season. Not overwhelm the other team, but take advantage of the other teams mistakes.
Clutch hitting with runners in scoring position.Something St. Louis couldn't do.
A lot of happy people around here this morning, but tired.

Quoting NEwxguy:
HI,Mass,
It was just starting to rain, when I was driving to work, and it was very raw then.It will be nice to see it warm up starting later tonight.
Really looking forward to tonights game, its going to be a tough fight, this young pitcher is probably the best pitcher in the
playoffs.

Are you referring to Red Sox closer, Koji Uehara or starter John Lacky? Is another pitcher substituting for Lacky in tonight's game 6? I'm a bit confused as I see no changes having been made to tonight's Red Sox pitching roster or ... are you referring to the young St. Louis Card's starter? In any event, I hope that 'Big Papi' can again fire up the team to focus harder on their time at bat, throws on the field and overcoming any other frustrating challenges presented by the Cards. So much is now on the line! If they win tonight, it will be the first time since 1918 that the Red Sox have won a World Series game on home field. The last two wins were in St. Louis in '04 and Colorado in '07.

Good Morning, NEw!

Hard to believe that a stormy warm front's about to enter later when we're currently in this very chilly, raw and rainy mode. My feeling is, if the temps reach 70F on Friday, who cares about the accompanying rain and winds? Right now, we sure could use some free natural warmth, water for the parched ground, along with leaf removal from our trees and yard. Who could ask for more? Talk about a post-Halloween treat! LOL!

As far as Halloween night goes, our neighborhood hasn't seen a 'trick or treater' in years. I guess age and circumstances (power outages due to harsh weather or other conditions) have taken their toll on most and created alternative safer plans to celebrate this pagan-style holiday. Well, it saves us adult greeters on money and potential cavities! LOL!

Hope any nasty weather ahead comes well after the scheduled home World Series games. It would be nice if the players could thaw out on field or the fans relive some of those warmer nighttime temps of, say..... early spring? LOL! At least, there haven't been any obvious threats of a potential blizzard! The PATS have already been there and won that.

Today we have Game 6 of the World Series, and Boston could end it tonight, but it won't be easy.
The President comes into town for a speech this afternoon.
The Celtics open their season tonight.
Not to mention it is Halloween tomorrow night.

Hi,Mass,
I've been watching some of the reports from New Jersey and out on Long Island, still less then half restored. No one ever could ever have forseen the destruction when Sandy was approaching. Most of New England had only minor damage, but Long Island southward was flattened.
Thankfully nothing like that seen in the near future although ,it will get very stormy around Friday.Hopefully take most of the leaves of the trees around my yard.Sounds like you have a long few weeks of leaf clearing ahead of you.
So hopefully they can end it tomorrow night. Do not want to see a 7th game.Besides with threat of rain Thursday night, that might be a problem.

Good Morning, NEw ~

Hard to believe that we're now waking up to below freezing temps. Ouch! On top of that, this Sunday's EST start (falling back an hour) will also create quite an adjustment. To think, we'll have to be groping around for those light switches well before 5:00 pm! LOL!

Yesterday, our town's leaf disposal service truck removed about 30 bags of mulched leaves from our driveway. Sadly, we've made only a small dent in what remains to be done. Our darn huge oak trees, with their sticky brown leaves, like to annually taunt us well into November. Hopefully, Thursday night's potential storm and wind gusts will be of great help to us rather than a hindrance.

Speaking of storm gusts, it's hard to believe that this is the one year anniversary to Hurricane Sandy's landfall and wrath. My northern MA location was far luckier than those living along the eastern coastlines, Cape or further south. It's painful to see how many devastated New Jersey and New York shoreline occupants still remain unable to recover or rebuild. I saw a program where some contractors there are now using 20 ft stilt like foundations for those financially able to rebuild and wishing to remain. Nowadays, this should be a mandatory requirement for all those residents wishing to live near or along any type of water's edge.

It appears Red Sox DH, FB, David Ortiz's dugout pep talks have had some positive effects on the team. Glad he's still around to help snap certain younger players into reality! Hope this more optimistic momentum and focus continues when back on home turf tomorrow night; especially, when or if one of our pitchers or catchers decides to randomly throw to third base. Time to wear those thinking caps fellas! LOL!

Could be some wild weather Late Thursday into Friday, before a front comes through. The later the better.Still a lot of leaves on trees.Thought our recent cold spell would speed things up.Already had to blow off leaves onto the street twice.I'm sure I'll be doing this a few more times through November

Active week on sports.
Redsox split the first to games in ST. Louis.Strange endings to both games. This is turning out to be a sloppy world series by both teams.
Sloppy game by the Patriots, but they pull it out in the second half. They continue to be unimpressive on offense, but defense is stepping up.
