Sept.23,
How strange is it to look out in the tropical atlantic and not even see an invest. This has been such a strange tropical season.Little or nothing to worry about. At this point in time, the most likely area to watch will be the carribean and gulf, but the conditions at this point do not favor any developement.

Sept.24
So we've been in a very quiet weather pattern, going back to the last week in July, after our heatwave.Sept. has been very quiet with only a few frontal passages to give us any rain. This pattern should last through the weekend, but models now have picked up on a possible strong coastal low for monday or tuesday.Models are split on whether this stays south and is much weaker, while another group of models strengthen this low with even some tropical characteristics and bring up the coast into new england.Still way too early ,but definitely something to watch.

Sept.25
So our quiet comfortable fall weather continues right through the weekend, although probably increasing clouds late sunday. As for our coastal low, models seem to be edging this more east of us and probably will miss us completely or graze SE Mass and cape cod with some rain and wind/waves.Still too early with certainty, will have a better picture once the low starts to form of the SE coast. After that weather could become active as a Neg. NAO sets up in the north atlantic, which usually brings some very unsettled weather to the northeast

Sept.26
Will keep the title of the blogs since there are no end in sight for this weather.Looks to be a perfect weekend, and at this point the coastal low looks to pass out to sea well south of the New England,so continued dry spell, with little to no precip expected.Slight chance on Tuesday as a weak cold front comes through.
Area really needs some rain,The summer was 5 inches below normal and fall starts off very dry.

Sept.27
So our coastal low should stay out to sea,but it will be a close call, will have to watch for any changes this weekend, but once that system moves by,we get a long stretch of dry weather and above normal temps next week.
At least mid 70's with the possibility of even warmer temps if the high stays strong. Not a bad way to end Sept and start October

P,I know, theres blocking out there and I've noticed the GFS wants to bring it back toward us,but so far our forecasters aren't buying it.especially for cape cod and eastern new england, going to be close.

Good Morning and HAPPY TGIF, NEw!

As you have posted, the weekend does look spectacular and the perfect time to celebrate my F-I-L's 92nd birthday on Sunday. The route to the nursing home, in Derry, NH is always a pleasant one and already tinges of color can be seen as one drives into New Hampshire. Hopefully, this year, my hubby and I can take a day to drive further North for some lovely leaf-peeping. For some reason, the leaves seem to be turning much later this year, as they've only begun to show up at the Northern tips of VT, NH, ME. I remember when Meredith, NH would be in full color by the first weekend in October. Guess we'll have to wait a little longer.

Hope your workday ahead is bearable and, when stressed, think of the upcoming relaxing weekend which starts hours away.

This day has been insane,I would say I'm going insane, but I think I'm already there.
We have five people on our team, and one is on vacation,
and the other three are in training,so guess who has to do deal with all the customers.

Sorry, NEw, I think we see what you mean! Hope the next 3 hrs will fly by quickly and you'll be able to crash and burn at home in no time flat. At least, tomorrow's TGIF day and your weekend should be freed up from on-call status.

GM,Mass, reading on the internet about this,it generally comes down to her being bored.Puppies need a lot of attention and they need to have their minds occupied. Its tough since Im at work all day,and my wife has things to do,so can't always keep an eye on her,so she does get bored. We all know even with children,if they don't have things to occupy their time they will find things on their own and usually thats not a good thing.

I'm glad, for now, that our fall weather has remained status quo with sunshine and brisk mornings turning reasonably warm by afternoon. Happy to also learn that we should be avoiding those potential storms, originally thought to arrive early next week, and could effect only parts of the Cape and islands.
Truthfully, I can't think of a better forecast, right now, to help us ease into the much colder fall/winter months ahead.

Quoting NEwxguy, Sept. 25:
As I discussed on Juslivn's blog,Belle is getting worse with her chewing.Sometimes we put her out on the deck by herself, but this week she started pulling rubber weatherstripping off our sliding deck door. She's gone after our molding. Our new harness we put on her,she has chewed through.Leashes.Most of her toys, she has opened up and took out the stuffing.I thought she would gradually get better as she gets older, but a 8 months she is getting worse.

I just read your post of yesterday regarding 8 mos. Belle's recently developed chewing habits. Sounds like you and the Mrs. now have your hands full in attempting to keep your interior/exterior home intact! At 8 mos, I think Belle's too old to be doing any residual teething and am also wondering if or why she's forsaking any/all of her doggie chew toys for harnesses and rubberized weather stripping? Sounds like she's either expressing anxiety or just acting out for attention. What does her vet have to say about this aged breed and her current behavior?? I remember you mentioning that she finished and did well in obedience training classes, months ago, so this on-going annoyance is a bit perplexing.

Mass,
Going to the dentist is bad enough, driving through windy rains, makes it even worse. My guess right now is this is going out to sea.

Looking at the afternoon long range model discussions, its anybodys guess whats going to happen early next week. There is the potential for a significant rain and wind storm Monday into Tuesday, but there's just as much chance that it will be pushed out to sea. Will have a better handle on this by Thurs. or Friday. It really will come down to the trough that will be progressing across the US this time period, and if it can grab this system and push it up the coast. With weather timing is everything.

Hi NEw!

It definitely is a glorious, but still somewhat chilly, fall day outside! I still haven't adapted yet to these unusually colder changes to our overnight fall temperatures. Those wonderfully warm to hot summer days/nights are just a dream to me now! Hope any potential storms due early next week (Mon. - Tues.) will evade us, for I don't need to be challenged by strong winds and heavy rains alongside entering into my dentist's office. That situation alone is a difficult enough prospect! LOL!

Hey NE did you see this development? Too far away for my taste to get excited (or well, honestly given recent years trends, worried) but it's there...

Negative NAO is modeled to be in place at the same time.

Something to keep an eye on in the coming days.

With summer ending, looked back on the stats.
Very dry,we ended up about 5 inches below normal, but some areas in New England were way above normal.Precip totals really varied from one area to another.
Temps were above normal, but only because the first 2/3rds of July was so hot,August was just about normal, maybe a little below, and Sept. is running pretty close to normal.

Hi,Jus,too early for any freeze yet, although close.
Yep,both our teams are squeaking by,but at least squeaking by.Next week we'll see.
Trust me Belle gets plenty of treats. In fact we need to cut down, she's still gaining weight although the vet indicates she is still fine in the weight category. But lifting,I would agree.

Hi NEw, so our teams squeaked another one by. Steeler's looked like they were about to pull it off for a moment there in our game (which would be typical of da old Bears) We'll all see if we are for real.

Nice day here, but chilly like you out there. Didn't quite freeze yet though. I see some blue on the map to the North already :(

Stay warm and give Belle a treat for me!

I thought the same thing about the PATS, especially, when eyeing their upcoming schedule against the Falcons, etc. I think a lot depends on how soon Gronk and other disabled players can finally return to the field.

I kind of feel bad for Emmy, as she took time off to go to Pittsburgh, last week, so to attend last night's Steelers game as part of a personal birthday gift. It wasn't much of a present, for her beloved (now, 0-3) Steelers lost big time to the (now,
3-0) Chicago Bears! I guess age and circumstances catch up to all of us! LOL!

Yeh,and not just for football players, right?
Yeh,too bad,for Emmy,she loves her steelers,so can't be too happy

Well, the patriots are done their preseason, now they will start playing some good teams starting next Sunday night against Atlanta, thats when we'll see if they are progressing.

I'm still stunned that the PATS are (3-0) even though their first two normally less challenging seasonal opponents nearly beat them!

Not cold enough to put any clothing on her as yet, especially with her double fur,I don't think she will have too much problem with the cold, not as much as me.With the real cold weather we may put a coat on her.
As far as leaves, she will be going crazy once the leaves start falling, even now with the first few early leaves dropping when the wind blows a few leaves around she pounces.I can only imagine on one of those windy days in October when the street is full of blowing leaves she will be jumping around all over the place.
As for our walks in the evening she is very nervous in the dark. She doesn't feel secure, she is always looking behind us and looking in the shadows, hopefully as she gets older she will feel safer on our walks after dark.

Good Morning, NEw!

I think we can easily put up with those strangely quiet tropics right now, in light of all the other weather-related anomalies or tragedies that have recently taken place.

Thankful that much of our weekend was reasonably warm and yesterday's early morning rainstorms came in went within a few hours, but I'm still astonished by the plummet in temps within the past 12 hours. One doesn't need caffeine to wake up now, just poke one's head out of the front or back door! LOL!

Have you and Belle adapted to these chillier am and pm walks as yet? Do you dress her in warming fall gear beforehand? If anything, she might enjoy playing amongst a few rustling fallen leaves in your backyard while you rake up the rest. LOL!
