April 19th
Like something out of a movie.
Two suspects for the Marathon Bombing, have been found.During the night they attempted rob a 7-11 store, shot and killed an MIT college security guard,
hijacked a couple of cars, police car chase with grenades thrown, and MBTA office shot in gun battle,in critical condition.
One of the suspects is shot and killed and now the other suspect is on the run and theyve ordered everyone in Watertown Mass in a lock down and
surrounding towns are also in a lock down
including my town in Walthm.
They may have him cornered in Watertown at this moment.Incredible story going on here.

April 18th
Great night at the TD gardens as the bruins became the first local team to play a game since the horrible events on Monday, and the team and fans didn't disappoint.
Started with a moment of silence and then they played a song by Phillip Phillips called Home and on the video screens showed scenes of the rescue and the emotions and first responders after the explosions.Great song and so emotional and then the National Anthem sung by Rene Rancourt long time Bruins fan who sung the national anthem for the bruins in years past and then the fans took over and the whole place resounded with the National Anthem,it was awesome.Boston you make me proud!!!

April 17th
What a great feeling to see all the tributes to Boston around the country. It really makes me feel good to see how the country rallys around those that experience a life changing event such as the violence we have seen over the years.
As for our area, slowly getting back to normal, but its going to be a long time before things feel right.
News continues to broadcast reports, stories of the survivors, and stories about the three who lost their lives, scenes of armed police guarding the entrance to hotels, the bomb area still closed. Its going to be a while.
Still no word from the bomber, but he or they have to make some announcement at some point, otherwise why would you do it?Some warped reason or cause.
Anyway getting back to the weather,we still are in a cool regime, although the days do get into the 60's,Friday looks to be the warmest day hitting 70 before a strong cold front comes through Friday night and we go back to a cooler than normal temp.No big warmups in sight.

April 16th
So I wanted to put some thoughts into my blog subject.
So many emotions run through my mind this morning.
Patriots Day in Boston is something special. It commemorates the start our our revolution.
Early in the morning in Lexingtion and Concord they do reenactments of the first battles.A lot of fun to go to.
Then at 11:00 am The Redsox play, the only time a baseball game is started that early.Yesterday we had a victory and everyone was feeling good filing out of the park and walking down to Kenmore Sq. and Copley to watch the runners finish. Its such a festive time, families and visitors from all over the world come to either run or watch.
After about 1400 runners had crossed the line and still over half the runners still to finish, the first explosion goes off, most people don't know what has just happened, then 13 seconds later another blast another block down the street and then it hits home what is happening.
It was an inspiring scene watching as so many police, fire, race volunteers and medical people rushed toward the blast to help, that quick response probably saved a lot of lives.
At this point 3 dead and over 140 people were hurt, many very seriously, with loss of limbs very common.
Its stunning to think there are people in this world whose sole aim is to kill other human beings for some senseless reason.I will never be able to understand.

Good Evening, NEw!

Hope you and others, who've been in lockdown all day in the affected Boston areas, can now breath a little sigh of relief now that they've FINALLY captured the second suspect alive but in serious condition. Hopefully, he'll survive long enough to give up answers to baffling questions as to what or whom triggered his older brother and him to commit such hienous acts against a Country that granted their family political asylum and freedom ten years ago!! So many baffling unanswered questions, but hopefully he'll live long enough to give them up before being charged with, hopefully, state/federal crimes.

Huge kudos to all of Boston's policemen, firemen, EMT's, FBI, ATF's, Homeland Security etc.! They certainly deserve such a hugh round of applause for their hours of tireless dedication in tracking down these wanted suspects while trying to keep the citizens of the affected communities safe. WOOT!!!

Hi NEw and SHE ~

Woke up this am to a tearful hubby, watching the local news, trying to describe to me the war zone-like events that have unfolded since the two suspects were pinpointed at their Boston 'burb residence, the resulting carnage created via guns, the death of the elder suspect (brother - 26 yrs old) by gunfire and the younger suspect (brother - 19 yrs old) remaining on the loose after a car-hijack, abandoned car and possibly now on foot.

One of their uncles (a US citizen) from Maryland stated that he is outraged by their horrific actions, states that they've both put a deep stain on their ethnicity, etc. and he requests that the surviving younger nephew (19 yrs old) (still on the loose) turn himself in!!! Both nephews are also naturalized US citizens.

Hope and pray that you and all all dear Boston or suburban Boston family members and friends remain safe and sound during this very traumatic period. Hope they capture the younger suspect alive to find out the true reasons behind their sudden violent vendettas, as the affected victims deserve answers. Shocking how they have lived in this Country for ten years and now this!!

Stay safe, NEw. Awakened at 6:30 am by automated call from Cambridge police to stay indoors, glued to tv since then. Our daughters went to the same high school as the suspect (a long time ago). Very scary. I think the younger one was completely under the influence of the older one.

Take care. Thanks for posting about the Comfort Dogs from the Lutherans--those are the ones I mentioned in an earlier post. I could use one about now!

Woke up to find out all that is going on in Boston, incredible, bad things are happening more and more :((

Good luck on puppy training! Our two are 4 months old and are really doing well. Part of that is we are not fenced and live in a very rural area. Pups have to listen or, well bad things could happen to them. They still have their moments but like you I have to remind myself that they are still little!!

I will be off to get somethings done around the yard. Also going to visit a puppy trainer and get some advice for Belle. She's been doing better, but still having some obedience issues.Still have to remind myself she is only 3 months old and can't expect too much for a baby.

HAVE A REAL NICE RESTORATIVE REMAINDER TO YOUR DAY (AND WEEK??) HOPE THAT THE EXPERIENCED PUPPY TRAINER CAN OFFER YOU PLENTY OF HELPFUL SUGGESTIONS IN GETTING LITTLE BELLE TO FURTHER COOPERATE! Give adorable Belle a warm friendly comforting pat on the head for me! You're lucky to have such a wonderfully pleasant distraction to turn to after such an emotionally charged week.

Hi,Mass,I saw that about the hugs.
We have a reputation,that Bostonians are standoffish,cold,not friendly.Its such a bad wrap.
Its a big city and there are unfriendly people, but there are more friendly, helpful, caring people, and that has been borne out over this past week. The endless supply of help, love and caring keeps on coming. It really is a wonderful city, and as the signs say Boston is Strong.
I didn't see the service, but was able to listen while I was working and I have to say our President is an inspirational guy.Whether you like his politics or policies,or just don't like him,you cannot argue that he inspires with his words. It was excellent, and will definitely help this area as it recovers.

Hi again NEw!

I saw the two specially trained "comfort" dogs arrive on the news last night and thought what a wonderful way of helping any/all children or adults affected receive such unconditional love and affection. Additionally, there was a similar news segment regarding some decent caring Bostonians, who may or may not in the area, that were holding up signs (near the crime scene) that offered free hugs as well. Many nearby pedestrians actually took them up on their offer and felt a release from all the shock and grief.

Say what one will, Boston remains one of the greatest cities on earth and contains many remarkably compassionate and staunch people!

P.S. Great interfaith service held today at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Boston. President Obama, the First Lady, and many state and federal dignitaries attended. Presently, the President and his wife are visiting the seriously wounded patients and their families at the MGH, Brigham and Women's Hospitals, etc. GOD BLESS THEM ALL!

Hi NEw!

I, too, saw excerpts of the wonderful Boston Bruin's tribute to the marathon bombing victims on last night's newscast. It caused tears to well in my eyes, as well, when all the tear-fillled fans sang, "God Bless America". So moving and appropriate! Even though the Bruins didn't win their game, they certainly made us feel as one and stronger for it!

Tragic, too, is last night's explosion of a fertilizer plant near Waco, TX. Quite a harsh reminder as to the dangerously explosive chemicals contained within cow or horse manure and how it's been used by past criminals for purely destructive reasons. My prayers for all the victims of that tragic incident as well.

At least, our current weather seems glorious outside with sunny and completely blue skies. Temps are currently a bit chillier than yesterday (54F degrees) but remain more average for this time of year. It does look like we'll be receiving some rains later tonight, heavier tomorrow, but it will certainly help reduce the high pollen count and serious dryness.

Hope the remainder of this tragic week will be calm and bring much love, hope, peace and strength to all!

Im especially proud of my city and its responses to the need for help and blood.
I also found out a relative of my nephew's wife was the family that lost the 8 yr old boy and severely injured the mother and young daughter. So many people know someone who's been impacted from this.

There is conflicting information as to whether someone has been arrested in connection with the Boston Marathon bombings. A federal law enforcement source told CNN's Fran Townsend that someone was arrested. But later, two senior administration officials and another federal official told Townsend that there had been a misunderstanding among officials and that no one has been arrested.

Hi NEw!

Painfully, CNN has once again jumped the gun in supplying false information to its viewers! MSNBC and other news outlets have conferred with TOP BOSTON POLICE OFFICIALS AND THE FBI; BOTH OF WHOM HAVE STATED UNEQUIVOLCALLY THAT NO IDENTIFICATION OR ARRESTS HAVE BEEN MADE THUS FAR!! Top investigators are still reviewing the submitted videos by Lord & Taylor and WHDH TV which clearly show the face of a fellow leaving the suspicious duffle bag, but this suspect has still not been completely identified or arrested at this time.

Our neighbor, Brian, was just outside my window with hubby fertilizing our front garden. He remains off-duty due to the high-security and shopping ban in that particular Boylston Street area. His cellphone has been ringing off the hook, however, with thank yous from close friends and others!

CNN's John King is reporting that "substantial progress" has been made in the investigation: Boston officials believe they may have identified a bombing suspect. It is said to be a "clear identification of a suspect" based on new video, obtained with help of a local TV station. King's law enforcement source in Boston called it a "significant breakthrough" and a "game changer," having been told there is "one suspect" — though this doesn't necessarily rule out a second suspect.
A second source briefed on the investigation told King that department store video (apparently surveillance footage) from a local Lord & Taylor in Copley Square shows a clear facial recognition; investigators had been looking for video of a suspect placing down a bag and walking away. No confirmation of an arrest has been made and no identifying details have emerged other than what was described to King as a "dark skinned male individual." The Lord & Taylor would appear, from the above Reuters photo that appeared on the front page of today's New York Times, to have been the second blast site.

Actually, it's our friend and neighbor in Methuen who's the Security Chief and Guard at Lord and Taylor's retail store in Boston.

CNN's REPORTING BREAKING NEWS FROM AN UNKNOWN SOURCE THAT THEY BELIEVE THE BOMB SUSPECT HAS BEEN ID'D FROM THE PROCUREMENT OF THE SECURITY VIDEO OBTAINED THROUGH BOSTON'S LORD & TAYLOR RETAIL STORE (POSITIONED DIAGONALLY ACROSS THE STREET) AND BY A LOCAL TELEVISION STATION!!! If this is true, how completely amazing and encouraging! It is one of the many reasons why our neighbor, Brian, is not only such an exemplarary helpful neighbor and friend but security professional!

Don't ya just hate when a season is stubborn and just won't go away. One ends up going from winter directly into the heat of summer or are we in for a cool and wet summer as well. Could happen.

Anyway have a safe day. Try not to work too hard.

GM, everyone. I see that the Lutheran Comfort Dogs are coming to Boston or are already here. They served in Newtown but who would ever think we would need them here. They are trained in Illinois by the Lutheran Charities there and will travel anywhere they are requested. I am not a member of that church at all but I learned about them at the time of the Newtown horror. You can google them at K-9 Comfort Dogs. I think they provide a very special service of comfort and healing and although I am ok after Monday's terrible events, I guess I would be glad to hug a dog at this time, you know?

I hope everyone is doing ok.

Hi,Mass,as life gets back to a hint of normalcy, things still don't seem normal. The effects from something like this last for a long time.Pictures of Armed police standing guard outside hotels, exits to copley square still closed and areas still cordoned off around that area, show that things are still far from normal. The stories are so sad,I try to focus on the positive stories of the people who rushed to help some of the victims and probably saving their lives.
I often say a prayer for all the people who were effected by this.

Hi NEw ~

Another busy day of gallivanting around, so I didn't have the time to post much until now.

Like you, I'm still so perplexed as to what triggered yet another or other deeply disturbed individual(s) into committing yet another horrific massacre on all those unsuspecting innocent lives. It appears to have some of the same earmarks as those perpetrated in the 1990's. Remember Timothy McVeigh's Oklahoma City bombing (On Mass. Patriots Day - April 19, 1995)?? Approximately 300 people, including many nursery school children, died from that tragic event (18 yrs ago) and yet no one has really thought much of it until today. It seems recent decades, have produced increasingly deranged trigger or bomb-happy souls that seek to anyone or everyone for deluded reasons. Obviously, we need to properly stand firm against these sort of degenerates by demanding that our U.S. congress get off their butts and finally do something to protect and serve its ordinary citizens rather than the corrupt hierarchy of the NRA and its corporate sponsers. Truly, enough is enough!!!

Britain is a prime example to follow in terms of the positive effects gun bans and official top-notch security has had on the large decrease in death rates from such weaponry. Its high time our own US Government got off its insanely ridiculous high horse and realized that America lags too far behind other many countries in the prevention of same violent acts or terrorism!!! Naturally, loss of life can never be replaced but, apparently bombs, guns and ammo certainly can and has seemingly taken precedence over the lives of us ordinary peace-loving citizens.

It's like Bob Dylan once wrote in the song, "Blowin' in the Wind", "How many deaths will it take till we know that too many people have died?".... Too many many lives have been taken in just a matter of a few months ... SO WHAT MORE WILL IT TAKE BEFORE OUR GOVERNMENT DECIDES TO STOP OUR EVER ESCALATING DEATH TOLL OR ARE WE ALL JUST EXPENDABLE TO THEM??

P.S. My husband just chatted with our good neighbor and friend (across the street) who works as a security chief at Lord and Taylors of Boston. He was on duty, when the bombs blasted from diagonally across the street, and stated that the building shook, mannequins dropped but, thankfully, nothing more. The FBI came into his department to request any and all security video placed outside the store, as they did with all others in the vacinity. He said that when he went outside later to check for possible damages, the scene across the street was gruesome! I'm glad he and others we know are all okay, but I continue to pray for those young innocent lives lost, seriously maimed or injured.

Heaven help us all!!

From the events yesterday,I keep coming back to an old Chicago song, meant as a antiwar protest song, but lyrics certainly apply to our times now.

Can't stand it no more
The people dying
Crying for help for so many years
But nobody hears
Better end soon my friend
It better end soon my friend

Can't take it no more
The people hating
Hurting their brothers
They don't understand
They can't understand
Better end soon my friend
It better end soon

I will continue to update any news that I get as the investigation goes forward. Some people may not wish to read about this anymore,I understand,I am a person who wants to learn as much as I can about actions like this.It makes now sense to me and I want to learn what goes into acts of violence.
The latest news is that there were not additional unexploded devices,it appears there were just the two.
It was also built to cause the most injury to people. It appears to have had built in shrapnel, such as ball bearings, nails and other sharp objects, possibly a pressure cooker type of device.

rich, thank you for you thoughts,I have a feeling your sentiments toward the one or ones responsible is echoed with most people in this country.
Hero=those who respond to help victims even though they may be putting themselves in harms way.

Cowards=those who attack the innocents with and then sneak away without even acknowledging what they did or for whatever twisted reason they have.

My Heart goes out to all those Directly Affected by the 2 explosions and to their grieving relatives!

My Vast Appreciation goes out to all those who ran Towards the Blasts, inorder to assist the wounded. I was Awestruck watching news videos, and was simply Amazed at the Huge Number of "First Responders", whether trained or completely volunteer. They are Heros in my book, as always!
My Greatest Prayers go out to Those who seek to Find the Coward(s) or Group that's responsible for this gutless act.
And yes, even my sympathy for "They", whomever they are, who acted far more like the Cockroaches that they are, than any 'combatant' in any 'conflict' that they must feel a part of. Sneaking around in the dark, seeking to harm unarmed people, completely unaware of any 'cause' that they'd been entwined with. No, The Chicken Hearted Cowards that placed these explosive devices deserve our sympathy too. Up to and Including the Minute they are either sentenced to Death or Life In Prison for their Mindless Behavior. Just as we would protect ourselves from a rabid animal, so must we protect ourselves from 'creatures' like this!
And May We Find Them Very Very Soon!

Hi,looking, yeh, a lot of people probably didn't know what happened until they turned on the radio or tv.It would be the last thing you would expect at an event like this,it really has me in a bad mood today that there are people out there for whatever deranged thought would want to do something like this.
I have no explanation.

I heard the explosions yesterday...I was in my house in Cambridge, with some windows open. Oh, I thought, I didn't know we were going to have a thunderstorm today...and then a second roll of "thunder." I did not know what had happened until after 4:00. I feel terrible that I was just going about my business until I happened to click on USA Today and saw the headlines.

I just keep thinking it was somebody local, somebody who knew the Marathon really well, who knew when the largest number of runners would be coming by and where they would be relative to the finish line. I have very often gone to the Marathon and always wait just there at the finish line--I could have been there yesterday.

I find it so hard to understand how even a totally deranged person would do something like this. An 8 year old died? They were treating a 2 year old for heaven's sake? What is the matter with people??

I hope everyone is ok, and that all your people are ok. I have already checked on somebody I knew who was running; he had already finished and was in the Marriott.

Seems like a lot of bystanders were really helping the wounded. People will do their best under extreme circumstances.

Jus,thank you for dropping by,we are in shock up here.I woke this morning, thanking the lord all that I knew who were at the Marathon are safe, but so saddened by those who lost their lives or were maimed or serioulsy injured. It is still something I can't wrap my brain around.Other humans doing this to other humans. An 8 year old boy who had no connection to whatever the cause the sick individual was doing this for.
