End of the last short week for a while, unless you are someone who gets MLK day off in about a week and a half.
Got to 12 degrees early, then clouds moved in and temps started to rise.It will stay cold through the weekend, but nothing severe and even a couple events of flurries Sat. night and Sunday night. Then starting Tuesday a warmup into the 40's,which will feel nice. Some sort of storm the end of next week, but probably will be a warm storm.
The start of the NFL playoffs this week, which is always a fun time.

Holidays are done. They seem to arrive quickly and end even quicker. So much going on during the holiday period, time just flies by.
Also illnesses are rampant around the country. The flu has arrived early and effecting most of the country.
My wife was sick over the weekend, and has mostly recovered by now,now its me not feeling well, started New Year's eve,and definitely didn't feel well yesterday, went to work this morning, but going to leave early, should have just stayed home.
Came out this morning and battery was dead, and had to jump it.Must be a weak battery, first cold morning will kill a weak battery. So will leave work early and stop and get new battery

Happy New Year to all.
Starting off the new year, sunny skies, but very windy,Colder air is moving in through the week, morning temps most mornings will be in the single numbers, some slight warming by next weekend.
Spent a quiet new years eve.
Hope everyone had happy and safe new years eve.
Well,2012 going out with a moderate snowstorm, the most snow we've seen this year including last winter.
my totals 7 inches.Fairly light to shovel, except for bottom layer.Everything coated with ice this morning, care walking around is needed. May get a little melting this morning, but colder air moving in tomorrow and even colder to finish the week.So there won't be much melting going on right into the weekend.
Patriots finished the season on a positive note, shutting out Miami 28-0.This gives them a bye next week,as Houston collapsed at the end of the season.Denver has the other bye.

January will be starting off below normal, but hard to say it this is an indication of the rest of the month. It appears we will have a pattern where we will have flucuating patterns. We will have a stretch of below normal, followed by above normal. No clear signals on what type of winter we are in for.
Despite all the recent tragedies and increased obstacles faced by many during the course of 2012, we should never give up on hoping or trying to create a better tomorrow for all.
WISHING YOU AND YOURS THE HOPE AND WISHES FOR A HEALTHY, SAFE AND HAPPIER NEW YEAR AHEAD! HEAVEN KNOWS, WE ALL COULD USE IT!

Sorry that you're stuck with on-call status on this first of the New Year but, as you mentioned, hopefully it'll remain quiet throughout the remainder of the day.
Hubby and I spent New Years Eve taking my 91 yr old father-in-law out for a delicious early-bird supper, taking him home then chatting with him for awhile, then going home ourselves to watch a little TV. I stayed up to watch the ball drop but wasn't impressed with any of the various New Year's Eve hosts, the respective shows or any of the scheduled young performers of each. To me, they all looked alike, dressed alike, sang alike which was OH SO B-O-R-I-N-G!!! Guess my old, tired and cranky age is now showing! LOL!
Again, hope your New Years Day proves to be a pleasantly quiet one! Hope, too, that you're working from home and not the... UGH ... office. Well, if so, just three more days of the work week left till the weekend! Hang in there, Good Buddy!
I really enjoyed the early tribute to Dick Clark, what a great guy he was,I sense everyone loved him.
So sorry to learn that both you and the wife are presently feeling "under the weather"! Hope you both got your flu shots early on. It probably would have been better to have gone with your inner instincts this morning and stayed home, especially, when faced with early am temps of 12 degrees and other challenges! It can't be overstated that, in our age bracket, "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure".
Hope you'll fare okay by leaving early, going directly home and completely resting up. I would wait till you're feeling better before picking up a new car battery. You really don't want to risk spreading germs around if you've got a contagious bug or flu-like symptoms.
Take care, good buddy, and my best to both of you for a speedy and full recovery!
Husband and I went as always to First Night in Boston and had a great time, some wonderful concerts and dance exhibitions and the Procession and the fabulous ice sculptures, and then I'd got tickets to go on the little "cruise" out into the harbor to see the fireworks. That was fun and festive. On the subway home, about 1:00 am, there were a couple of drunk kids--so too bad to see this--but their friends were taking care of them and all was well. I hear people say, Oh, I would never go into Boston for First Night--but we have been going for many years and have always had a joyful and exciting time with no problems of any kind. Agree with you about the New Year's from Times Square--what we saw of it (on the tv on the little ship) was same-old same-old, people screeching and gyrating and wearing next to nothing. In the "olden days," the folks in Times Square just entertained themselves by being there. Now it seems people feel they are not having a good time unless there is "entertainment." Well, guess I am letting my age show!
So take good care of yourself, NEw. Hope 2013 is a wonderful year for you and your family.
I'm still fighting, whatever it is I have. The germs can't seem to make up its mind whether it wants to be the flu or a cold,so they are battling it out in my body.Hopefully it will start to ease up soon.I have times when Im not feeling too bad and other times when I really feel bad.I decided to come into work, since I'm not sick enough to just sit around the house.Looking forward to the weekend to relax.
