December 13th
Several quiet days ahead with near to slightly above normal temps. Then starting Sunday the plot thickens,as well as the clouds.Starting Sunday a series of systems move south of us.Sunday and Sunday a small weak system effects the area with mostly light snow interior, and a mix closer to the coast, amounts should be fairly light. Then a stronger system for Monday and Monday night, and the possibility of a strong nor'easter for Tues into Wednesday. The problem is there isn't any artic air around so precip type depends on how much cold air gets drawn down from Canada. We'll just have to wait until this weekend for a clearer picture. The Tues-Wed. storm could be a very strong storm with high winds,my guess is without any real cold air around this will probably be mostly rain, especially in southern new england.

December 12th
So that magical number combination has arrived.
All the weddings taking place today, with the assumption that will be a lucky for their marriage. If only it was that easy.Anyway, good luck to all those getting married today, and be sure to work at your marriage and don't sit back thinking those numbers are all you need.
Weatherwise, back to normal temps, was at 27 this morning,40's by day.Friday looks to be warm, then a cool down and all eyes turn to next week.Very stormy period ahead and uncertain, what kind of precip it will be.One strong coastal storm early next week.So stay tuned.

December 11th
So a front has moved offshore, bringing an end to our springlike weather.mid to upper 50's last evening.Took my evening walk in my spring jacket, and even that was pretty warm.Certainly doesn't inspire the Christmas feeling. But temps should slowly fall today and tonight will be back into the 20's,more December like.Should stay dry the rest of the week, and warming as the week goes on,with possible 50's again on Friday, before another front moves through on Saturday, then we have to watch a system for Sunday into Monday. Not a lot of cold air around, but enough to give snow to northern sections and we will have to wait and see for us here in southern new england, but looks to be mostly rain with a mix.

Crazy weather pattern across the country.Blizzard conditions out in the upper midwest, and we are expecting 60's today and many of the local area, but definitely 50's in southern new england.Front comes through tonight, with some heavy showers, about the time the patriots are playing the Houston Texans on Monday night football.Should be a great game between two very good teams.
The rest of the week should have more normal weather with a system sometime next weekend.

Looking,I happen to be out shopping and started hearing them talk about what happened in Conn. but still didn't know,so turned to a news station, and heard the horrible news, and it sent chills down my spine. It just is one of the most horrible events,I've heard since 911,and there have been too many horrible stories like this. The fact they are so young just makes want to cry.My prayers go out to all the familes and the rest of the country who Im sure feel the sorrow.

Heart-breaking, heart-crushing news from Connecticut. I know that we are not really supposed to discuss politics on this website, but in the wake of these repeated horrendous tragedies, cannot somebody in Washington have the guts to do something about gun control? That is not politics, it is just common sense...

We are all grief-stricken at home, and our daughter and her husband in New Jersey must think how best to discuss this tonight with their three young boys, ages 12, 10, and 8. It could have been them.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...FRIDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY.

AN ACTIVE WEATHER PATTERN IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON SUNDAY AND
CONTINUE AT TIMES THROUGH THE MIDDLE OF NEXT WEEK. HOWEVER...THE
EXACT DETAILS...TIMING AND PRECIPITATION TYPES REMAIN VERY
UNCERTAIN.

THE FIRST BATCH OF PRECIPITATION LOOKS TO OCCUR SUNDAY INTO SUNDAY
NIGHT...BUT AMOUNTS LOOK LIGHT. IT PROBABLY WILL BE COLD ENOUGH
FOR MAINLY LIGHT SNOW ACROSS MUCH OF THE INTERIOR AND POSSIBLY
EVEN ACROSS PORTIONS OF THE COASTAL PLAIN FOR A TIME. SOME MINOR
SNOW ACCUMULATIONS ARE POSSIBLE.

A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL BRING A BETTER CHANCE OF MORE
SIGNIFICANT PRECIPITATION MONDAY AND/OR MONDAY NIGHT.
PRECIPITATION TYPES REMAIN HIGHLY UNCERTAIN AND ARE SUBJECT TO
CHANGE. CURRENT INDICATIONS ARE THAT IT PROBABLY WILL BE WARM
ENOUGH TO SUPPORT MAINLY RAIN ON THE COASTAL PLAIN.
HOWEVER...PORTIONS OF THE INTERIOR MAY BE JUST COLD ENOUGH FOR
SNOW. IF IT DOES END UP COLD ENOUGH...SEVERAL INCHES OF SNOW
ACCUMULATIONS COULD OCCUR. THERE MAY EVEN BE A SMALL SWATH OF
ICE...BUT CONFIDENCE REMAINS LOW.

FINALLY...A STRONG COASTAL STORM MAY AFFECT THE REGION BY NEXT
TUESDAY/WEDNESDAY. IF THIS SYSTEM DEVELOPS AND TRACKS CLOSE ENOUGH
TO OUR REGION...SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF RAIN AND/OR SNOW WOULD BE
POSSIBLE. A PERIOD OF STRONG WINDS WOULD BE POSSIBLE ALONG THE
COAST. THERE ALSO COULD BE SOME MINOR COASTAL FLOODING AND BEACH
EROSION ALONG THE EASTERN MASSACHUSETTS COAST.

Looking at long range forecast, next week does not look good, but so much is uncertain for precipitation type.
A lot of smaller systems to contend with, but at some point there will be a major coastal storm it appears. So everyone should stay tuned as the week goes on.Probably won't be certain until we get to friday.
Someone is going to get a lot of snow.
And astronomical high tides bring the threat of some coastal flooding also.

Hi,Mass, yeh, lets hope those newlyweds don't get caught up in superstition too much,it would make for a tough road ahead in those marriages.
As far as that storm,we can only hope most of the snow stays up north where they need it for those ski resorts.I have my snowblower ready, but would be just as happy keeping it alone in the corner of my garage for the winter.

I agree with you,I've reached that stage of my life, warm winters are wanted more and more.

Good 12-12-12 Afternoon to you, NEw!

Where do my mornings go??? When I started this post it was actually still in the am. Sad indictment on my slow computer, brain and posting abilities these days. LOL!

You're absolutely right about those who decide to coincide any life changing events (such as marriages, etc. ) with so-called lucky numbers or paradigms. (I guess I'm out of luck with my lucky number 13. LOL!!!) This superstition could probably be due to following in the footsteps of parents who've always believed in some centuries old mythology found in one's culture or religion. In any event, it's not just luck or love alone that can sustain a marriage these days, but how much maturity, wisdom, respect, communicative skills, fortitude, and adaptability one has learned or gained beforehand and/or throughout. It sounds like quite a tall order, I know, but so far, it appears this long recipe has worked well (with the emphasis on PUTTING IN THE WORK) for those baby boomers who've remained with the same spouse for many years.

On the topic of weather, the dreamer in me still hopes for a fizzle before the arrival of that possibly snowy storm system due sometime Sunday night. ARGH! If it's not a fizzle, then how about just a drizzle? LOL! In any event, let's hope we don't have to reach for our snow gear or equipment for many many weeks to come! Bah Humbug!!!

Have a pleasant 12-12-12 Hump Day! The weekend's almost here! YEAH!

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR NORTHERN
CONNECTICUT...CENTRAL MASSACHUSETTS...EASTERN
MASSACHUSETTS...NORTHEASTERN MASSACHUSETTS...SOUTHEASTERN
MASSACHUSETTS...WESTERN MASSACHUSETTS...SOUTHERN NEW
HAMPSHIRE...NORTHERN RHODE ISLAND AND SOUTHERN RHODE ISLAND.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER IS NOT EXPECTED AT THIS TIME.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...THURSDAY THROUGH TUESDAY.

AN ACTIVE WEATHER PATTERN IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON SUNDAY AND
CONTINUE AT TIMES THROUGH THE MIDDLE OF NEXT WEEK. THERE IS ALSO
THE POTENTIAL FOR A STRONG COASTAL STORM TO AFFECT THE REGION
SOMETIME BETWEEN NEXT MONDAY AND WEDNESDAY.

AT LEAST SOME ACCUMULATING SNOW AND/OR ICE IS LIKELY TO OCCUR
ACROSS INTERIOR SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND OVER THIS TIME. IN
FACT...SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS ARE A POSSIBILITY IF A STRONG COASTAL
STORM DEVELOPS AND IT REMAINS COLD ENOUGH. ACROSS THE COASTAL
PLAIN...ODDS FAVOR MAINLY RAIN BUT CAN/T RULE OUT A BIT OF SNOW AT
THE ONSET. THE OTHER CONCERNS ALONG THE COAST WOULD BE FOR A
PERIOD OF STRONG WINDS AND PERHAPS SOME MINOR COASTAL
FLOODING/BEACH EROSION EARLY NEXT WEEK ON THE EASTERN
MASSACHUSETTS COAST.

THERE IS PLENTY OF UNCERTAINTY ON TIMING...PRECIPITATION TYPES AND
POTENTIAL HAZARDS EARLY NEXT WEEK. HOWEVER...THERE IS THE
POSSIBILITY FOR A STRONG COASTAL STORM SO STAY TUNED.

Good Afternoon, NEw!

Glad to learn that your lengthy home renovations are seemingly over and that you and yours can now enjoy the fruits of all that labor and expense. It should all pay off in the long run in more ways than one.

What a surprising but pleasing PATS win last night over the Texans! I had my doubts beforehand but, as you mentioned below, things went their way while also being on home turf. Hope this win is indicative of even better things to come for them in January.

Glad to learn that Jus missed that whopper of a snowstorm affecting much of Minneapolis and others in the Midwest. UGH! I've purposely forgotten the full lyrics to the song, "Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow." LOL! I'm quite happy, for now, with temps in the mid-forties to near sixty. I guess, for most Northeasterners at Christmastime, it ain't easy being green, but after the 2010-2011 winter season, I've come to embrace it. LOL! Hope next Monday's expected precipitation remains as rain not snow!

Gotta run out to do more errands, but hope you're Tuesday goes smoothly while still basking in the glow of another big PATS win! Take care.

Our Patriots handled the best team with the best record in the NFL with ease.Kind of surprised. One of those nights when calls and fumbles went their way ,and Tom picked apart the secondary of Houston.Good win.

Oh, I am soooo glad that storm missed us! I'd just enough snow to cover the ground and I'd be happy :)

Good that you are handy and can do a lot of things yourselves. I guess the pros can save some money in some areas, but not always.
Have a good evening!

Hi,Jus,was watching the news videos coming from Minneapolis and around there and it looked pretty bad, glad you missed out on that.
Interior decorator, had some help, but it really came down to what we wanted to do.Some of here suggestions, just weren't realistic and plus it went outside our budget on what we wanted to do. As it was we still went over want we thought we would spend. So I think it really comes down what you envision and then maybe an interior decorator may help, but keep in mind they don't think with money limitations, they just throw out suggestions and you have to decide what you want to spend.

Hiya NEw, we missed a doosie of a storm. 60 degrees in December? All I can think of is how this will affect the ecosystems of bugs, animals, etc...what a wild two years.

Sounds very, very nice that you get to entertain friends in your new digs!
I have been wondering, How valuable to you feel the decorator was in the success of your project? and, without insulting anyone or the practice, (because I know in my profession they are invaluable) but as a regular family, do you feel it was beneficial to have that service?

(did I ask you that before? sorry if I did, but forgot the answer)

We have our house pretty much decorated now.Have our tree up and got some little things that needed to be done finished this weekend, and now can sit back and enjoy the season.
Next couple of weekends we have friends scheduled for dinner parties, each Saturday, think my wife wants to show off her new rooms. After a tough and long renovation period, she should show it off.
