Important Wednesday takes a downturn

By: NEwxguy , 12:52 PM GMT on October 21, 2009

The halfway mark for the week.Actually and important day for me and my wife. She is having her last chemo treatment today. It means another rought weekend, but it also means the worst will be over. She still has a long road with other treatments, radiation starts in November and she will have to do that every week day for 6 1/2 weeks, she also still has to go in every 3 weeks for herceptin which goes on for a year, and she will have to go on a hormone pill which has some uncomfortable side effects.
As anyone will tell you with cancer its one step at a time, and with chemo wrapping up,that is one major step forward.I am very proud of my lady, the way she has fought through this horrible treatment,my hat is off to all those who have fought through cancer treatment.

Hi newxguy,

My sister has been going thru chemo once a week for the past year due to breast cancer she found 8 years ago. Unfortunately, it was not caught in time and spread to her bones.

She was at Beth Israel last week getting the cyberknife procedure done to a spot on her spine.

It is going to be a long road with ups and downs. But with lots of love and support your wife will get thru it. Keep the faith.

So what started out positive today, turned sour,as doctors indicated that today was not the last treatment. They've always intended to do six treatments, and they don't know where we got the idea there were 4.When in fact we got it from our first consultation, when we had told them the other doctor we had switched from planned on four, and this doctor never indicated they would do anything different.
So needless to say my wife is down and so am I.
I can only imagine how she feels thinking she will be done after today,to find out two more to go and ruining the holidays.

I wonder what conditions London,England will bring for the Pats / Buccaneers game on Sunday?
Still can't wrap my head around the necessity of playing a game in a country where Rugby rules! LOL's! Can you?

As far as weather goes, nice warmup through tomorrow, then cooling down on Friday with a windy heavy rain episode on Saturday,as a storm moves up through the great lakes and into canada, which creates a moist SW flow riding up over a cool easterly flow over New England.Cold front moves through on Saturday night and dries things out for several days.

It seems you and your wife have the kind of loving and supportive relationship to face any and all challenges. Hopefully, in six months time, the end result of all this strife will bear happy news and she can proudly wear CANCER SURVIVOR across her chest which the rest of us will continue to cheer and support.
