It was a brutal day to run the Boston Marathon,up to 2200 runners decided not to run and the race organizers will allow them in next year.A kenyan man and woman won the race, but they both agreed it was a very tough day to run.Over 200 runners needed medical attention and 75 had to be taken to the hospital. They tried to provide as much water along the way and even had water mist tents set up,but for the inexperienced and even the experienced the heat was too much.Boston hit 87 degrees, but many of the suburban cities along the route were over 90.Congrats to all who finished and even those who were unable to finish.
So at my house we hit 91 degrees, but some surrounding towns hit 94 degrees.Cooler today, but still may hit 80,then 60's the rest of the week and cool and rainy for the weekend. Some very beneficial rains may be on the way.I better get my grass fertilzer down.
Redsox lost a pitchers duel and the Bruins edged the Washingtion Capitals last night 4-3,what is starting to turn a little nasty.

What a difference a day makes! Yesterday certainly was quite the amazing recording breaking hot-spell for many around here. Nearby Lawrence, MA also reached 91F degrees as a daytime high but, thankfully, was accompanied by low dewpoint levels making it more tolerable. I'm really curious as to what this summer has in store for us given these already unseasonably high temps this spring. I don't want to be having to remain indoors next to an air conditioner due to similar record breaking high temps felt in Texas last year.

Our new casement windows, installed last July, definitely allow much more air to circulate throughout our livingroom area. Thus far, it's really cut down on the use of fans or an air-conditioner during these hot spells. Hope it won't be long until your new windows finally arrive, are installed and begin to provide you with much added enjoyment and efficiency to your home as well. I certainly understand the frustration one goes through during this lengthy renovation process, and hope you don't end up losing an entire summer to it the way we did. For awhile there, we thought our contractors had taken up permanent residence.
Currently, it's such an incredibly gorgeous day outside and I hope to capitalize on, at least, part of it before the sun sets and more seasonably chilly air returns. If you can, get out and enjoy part of it during your lunch hour! Definitely helps the spirits.
I did some work in my garden getting my peas planted and hadd to turn over the soil and it was not bad working,of course it was after 5,so it wasn't as warm, but didn't even break a sweat.
And due to the low dew points we have the red flag warning up a gain.Really sounds like we are headed to some much needed heavy rain.this weekend.
