Patriots day here in the boston area. Its a day we celebrate the first battles of the Revolutionary war.The battle of Lexington and Concord.
We have reenactments of the battles and parades. Also the running of tbe Boston Marathon,The redsox start their game at 11:05 in the morning. So its fun day with several parades around the area.
Going to be a tough day for the runners with temps up into the upper 80's, a few areas may even hit 90.It could be worse, but there will be a stiff wind and humidity levels won't be real high, but still not runners weather.Organizers are asking those that aren't really expert runners to sit this out and come back next year.I suspect you will see some runners collapsing, hopefully nothing too serious.

Well as predicted,it was a rough weekend in the midwest and central part of the country, but as far as deaths it could have been a lot worse, but any death is bad.So much damage though,so many people lost everything.
Woodward,Okla. seems to have suffered the only loss of life with 6 deaths,3 of those young children.
Our week will be above normal, although no where near the temps we will see today, and there appears to be a chance for beneficial rains by this weekend.Don't like to see rain on weekends, but we need it bad. We have another day of Red Flag warnings in the Northeast today.

Well,as with every year for the Boston Marathon, the Kenyans won again. It should be renamed the Boston Kenyan Marathon, but congrats to the runners in very uncomfortable weather, through most of the race the temps were in the 80's,except now the temps have dropped into the 70's with a sea breeze moving in.So the rest of the fiels should get some cooling as they enter the city.

Good morning,Mass. My weekend was nice and oncall was quiet, continuing to finish up small things in my family room. We moved back in since the next phase putting in new windows won't happen for several weeks.
Well,my tune is geared more toward the runners,so far work has been reasonably quiet, but email from my boss has me really upset.Due to a heavy schedule of training he has made mandatory in July and August,he is limiting how much time off people can have and in fact would recommend not taking any in those two months. So basically what he is doing is taking away our only two months of Summer.I'm going to push back hard on this one and am going to take some time off this summer in between the training.
So as you can see,now I'm in a very bad mood for the rest of the day.
Anyway good luck to all the runners. And on those tornadoes, there were 6 deaths and 3 were children, really a sad story.

Good Mornin' NEw and Happy Patriots Day!

Hope your posted tune below is referring to the Boston Marathon runners and not of you this fine morning. Today's record breaking scorcher could very well bring an overwhelming amount of runners into Boston's ER's by stretcher. While trying to recall the past few decades of Patriots Day weather forecasts, I can't ever remember such a hot mid-April day as this one. I used to think reaching near or above the 70's was quite something.

Nevertheless, today will be challenging for many of us due to this lengthy on-going drought producing continual state-wide fire hazard warnings. Last night, I heard on one of our local weather reports that we may get that much needed heavy rainfall this coming Sunday. Hope it'll pan out for us, in spite of revelling these much earlier summery-like treats.

Did you hear about the brush-fire in Dover, MA the other night? I can't believe that this town, which usually allows legal permits to be issued to homeowners for brush-fires till May 1st, hasn't had the presence of mind to rescind or forbid these permits due to such severe risks! It doesn't matter how many safeguards are in place, a man ended up with second to third degree burns on his arms when his permitted yard brush-fire got quickly out of control and spread. Only now is this town considering to rescind all these permits earlier than usual. Truly unbelievable!

Scarier times remain for those living bottom to top (TX to WI) or in the mid-section of our country. I heard that over 100 tornadoes touched down in the "Plains" section during Saturday's outbreak. So very sad that two of the three victims, in Oklahoma, were children. Each new year seems to be bringing along increasingly dangerous, destructive and costly weather hazards resulting in more loss of life. Hope we can all get a miraculously safe long respite from these tragic weather events real soon!

Hope your weekend was pleasant and your on-call status very light.
