On to Indianapolis

Ok,so nobody told me watching football could be hazardous to your health.Glad nobody took my blood pressure at the end of the game yesterday.
So before anyone comes and tells me how lucky they were,we here in New England know that.
Tom Brady had a horrible game,Joe Flacco out played him,but in the end it was who would make the last mistake and Baltimore did that.To be honest they should have won,but it didn't fall that way and we can be happy about that.
Our defense came up great, making so many big plays when they had to.And now we get a superbowl rematch with the NY Giants, when SF made a last minute mistake fumbling the punt. And thats what happens in these big games between the top teams, who will make the last mistake.
I just don't know if I can't survive another game like that.
Anyway,we a little light precip this morning with below freezing temps, but nothing major to report,I've seen a little snow/sleet showers.
Temps on the rise into the 40's by evening, even 50 in some of the soutern areas.Should be above normal most of the week.

Hey,Lt,theres several ways to look at this.
The Giants are really hot,and their defense is playing at a high level.
There is that atonement factor, but there are only 8 players left on the team from the last giants game.
Brady rarely has two bad games back to back, but my concern is if there is some hidden injury they are hiding from us.
But all year they've found a way to win especially the last 10 games,so they have something going here.Should be a good game.

Hi NWwxguy, I'm in Stamford CT. technically in New England, but really we are a NYC. suburb. I think the Pats have a great chance against the Giants. Brady is on a mission of redemption to attone for the 2008 Super Bowl. I wouldn't bet against him. LT

GM, Mass and NEw--Mass, so sorry to hear the difficult story of your FIL. My husband and I are not yet in that age range, but not all that far from it, and we just dread having to give up the freedom of driving, but we know we will have to. We have promised each other that we will be honest with each other about it. Tough when your MIL is not able to help with this hard stuff. Thank God your FIL and others are ok.
NEw, I was worried about the bout your wife had a couple of weeks ago, and was very sympathetic about the long long LONG stay in the ER. I always think you should bring like a tent and sleeping bag, little stove, groceries, etc. for the ER. But it's good that she's doing well now and that is hopefully behind you.
I am having a bit of arthroscopic surgery on my knee for a torn meniscus, next Monday. As a walker and hiker it's been awful having to hobble and limp and not able to walk even a few blocks without difficulty. Hopefully, this will help.
Best wishes to all, and GO PATS.

Well, you guys sure eeeked that one out! You are right, mistakes cost the games and some very big plays taking advantage of those mistakes.

Sounds about the same weather wise here. I had appointments at 9 am but they are pushed to 11 now (which is great) and fog should be lifted completely by then.

Horrible night for those in the stormy areas. Not again this year, not again...:(

{{Hi Mass Off to work so will try to stop by later}}

GM,Mass, sorry to hear about your FIL,90 years old,I'm sorry he should not be driving, but I understand the not wanting to take is license away, most ederly hate to lose their independence, but you have think about their safety, and how would they feel if he hurt someone else.I went through the same decisions with my father, someone has to step up.
Anyway as far as the game, lot of people walking around New England with little or no fingernails left.
As a side not,the pressures that go with professional sports, with all the egos and prima donnas in sports,it is still so tough to see someone fail in such a huge spot light, you have to feel for cuniff after that missed field gold,it must be horrible to go back home a listen to all the criticism.
My wife is doing much better, she is staying away from all the spicy and wine and chocolate that can set it off for a while. Not easy, but she's doing it.

Good Morning NEw ~

I totally agree with your assessment of yesterday's AFC game. It appears whenever the defense steps up the offense ends up weak and vice versa. I'm not sure if Brady's being honest about how his recent physical disabilities are affecting his game. There was some talk beforehand as to whether or not he would be up to even practicing. It appears the PATS won by a fluke and that's not going to be good enough when faced with the Giants again. We shall see.

My mind has been on other stressful events over the weekend, as my 90 yr old father-in-law was in a car accident (Fri. afternoon) and totalled his car. Thankfully, he's okay and ended up with just a few bumps and bruises. We don't dare tell my 90 yr old M-I-L, who's in a nursing home 17 miles away, of this news. I've tried to warn the men of this possible occurence (given his age and decline) but it's fallen on deaf ears ... until now. Thankfully, no one was hurt but I'm hoping we can create other safer arrangements for his transportation needs alongside our driving him to and fro. It's been so emotionally and physically exhausting, as he can be ornery, demanding and hates having anyone drive him around.

At least, our weather forecast looks to be on the plus side again and tomorrow should provide us with another unseasonably warmer day. It certainly would make a terrific birthday present for me, as I could use a positive break from the recent ailments and strife caused during these past couple weeks.

Hope your wife is doing much better since her recent gastric flareup and that her meds plus diet have provided major relief! Thinking of you both and hope for more positive happenings in the days/ weeks to come!
