active weather pattern

So like winter can get we are in a very active pattern from coast to coast with the west coast getting the worst of it.There is a very large moisture plume that is being grabbed as a series of upper lows move into the west coast and dump a lot of QPF.Some unusually large amount of snow in the NW cities which have brought things to a standstill, but warmer air is moving in now changing the lower levels to heavy rain. This moisture moves across the country and loses its punch, but smaller systems are giving us here in the northeast a series of small systems. We will get a couple of inches tonight and on saturday,a heavier snowfall will give some areas a 3-6 inch snowfall.
So you really didn't think we would get through the winter without any snow did you?
Nothing major but it will definitely look winter for a while with a warmup possibly for next week.

Hi NEw,
So you are getting snow today huh?

Today is Baron's BD and Betsey & Scott planned to have his party in a nearby Barn with petting animals.

The weather has been so mild this winter!!!

and she wakes up this morning to freezing temps and 100% chance of snow all day long.

Lucky her friends tell her they are all use to doing things in this kind of weather not to worry and the barn is suppose to be heated.

So your winter has arrived in full force..

take care and stay warm!

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR NORTHERN
CONNECTICUT...CENTRAL MASSACHUSETTS...EASTERN
MASSACHUSETTS...NORTHEASTERN MASSACHUSETTS...SOUTHEASTERN
MASSACHUSETTS...WESTERN MASSACHUSETTS...SOUTHERN NEW
HAMPSHIRE...NORTHERN RHODE ISLAND AND SOUTHERN RHODE ISLAND.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT.

WIDESPREAD SNOW SHOWERS TONIGHT ARE EXPECTED ACROSS SOUTHERN NEW
ENGLAND WITH SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF ONE OR TWO INCHES LIKELY. GIVEN
THE RECENT COLD WEATHER ROADS WILL BECOME SNOW COVERED AND
SLIPPERY QUICKLY. SNOW SHOWERS MAY MIX WITH RAIN ALONG THE SOUTH
COAST INCLUDING CAPE COD AND THE ISLANDS.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...FRIDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY.

THERE IS A MODERATE TO HIGH PROBABILITY OF ACCUMULATING SNOWS
SATURDAY ACROSS MUCH OF THE REGION. THERE IS STILL SOME
UNCERTAINTY REGARDING THE EXACT TRACK OF THE STORM AND HOW MUCH
COLD AIR WILL REMAIN ENTRENCHED OVER SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND WITH
WARMER AIR OVER-RUNNING ALOFT. THEREFORE A WINTRY MIX IS ALSO
POSSIBLE.

THERE IS A LOW PROBABILITY OF ICY CONDITIONS FOR LATE SUNDAY INTO
SUNDAY NIGHT. AS A WARM FRONT LIFTS THROUGH THE REGION THERE WILL
BE THE POSSIBILITY FOR A LIGHT MIX OF SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN AS
TEMPERATURES REMAIN BELOW FREEZING AT THE SURFACE WITH WARMER
ABOVE FREEZING TEMPERATURES OVER-RUNNING ALOFT.

Hi,mass,so glad to hear you are doing better.
You are right I am so looking forward to this weekends game,so want to see them back in the superbowl.I am tired of all the hype and talk I want to just get to the game,Im sure the players are tired of talking to the media.
Some snow in the future, but no big storms, and it may warm up and help melt to what ever stays on the ground

Hi NEw!

Well, I'm feelin' a bit perkier today, as my seal cough finally seems to be subsiding. I'm still a little weak in the knees but am able to focus a little better while attempting to post on the computer.

Sorry to learn about your wife's recent late night ER visit due to a bout with acute gastritis. I remember, as a young teen, being side-lined for the month of August (during summer vacation) due to the same thing. To this day, I can't look at a bottle of liquid Maalox without getting nauseous. No fun! Hope that the recommended change to her diet and medication(s) are now helping to keep any future flareups under control. She's been through far too much already to add this serious problem to her list! I'm wondering if her sudden inflammation is bacterial in nature? I used to work for a gastroenterologist years ago and really learned a great deal about the causes and effects of various gastrointestinal illnesses. I think mine began after eating, what I thought was, a well cooked hamburger in a roll.

I imagine that you're psyched for this weekend's playoff game against the Ravens. It was heartening to see the PATS "Tebow" their way to a high-scoring win last week. Hope their defense remains on their toes again, as the competition is going to get a whole lot tougher while heading towards the Super Bowl.

Thankfully, for now, I'm happy that the ground outside is still wearin' o' the greenish brown. Looks like we might pick up an inch of the white stuff overnight and, possibly, more on Saturday/Sunday. I honestly don't think it'll remain for long, as warmer temps should be making another comeback to melt it all away. Fingers crossed! Nevertheless, compared to last year, this should be just a short-lived nuisance.

Stay warm, safe and well!
