Unsettled week

Yesterday was a very stormy day,with storms in the morning,again scattered in the afternoon,then another group of storms formed right over boston and up along the coast delaying the baseball game for about an hour and a half.Considering the score they should have called the game when it rained.
So today starts cloudy and cool,could be a little sun,before afternoon showers and some storms form with the heating of the day,although heating isn't exactly true.Low 70's at best.
Improving slowly as the week goes on,with a warming trend,warm and humid this weekend.

Stormy start the week

This is going to be a short week for me as I will be off Wed-Fri,doing work on my remodeling project.
Started some staining yesterday,but a lot more to go.
Currently today is going to be a very stormy day as a slow moving cold front approaches our area. Already a line of storms is moving through,rain just started for me,with some downpours less than an hour away.Getting dark outside.
After this line moves through,then we have chances of popup thunderstorms and showers into the evening.Finally front move through after midnight,but upper low hangs around so even tomorrow there will be chances for a popup shower.As the week moves on things will improve and looks to be a hot and humid weekend coming up.
Redsox continue to win,and we say goodby to kevin youkilous(spelling?)He was an interesting player and you can never say he didn't give his all,but injuries have taken his toll the last couple of years and with new young blood coming in,it was time.Big Papi the only one left from the 2004 championship team.

One more day of Humidity

It really has been uncomfortable the past two days, and today will continue the hot humid weather,except sometime this afternoon storms will begin to form and gradually become strong and more numerous late today and tonight.Slow moving front so showers linger into monday morning along the east coast and Cape Cod and the islands.Might be a couple more showers builiding up late afteroon tomorrow,but most of Sunday looks beautiful,but more showers moving in late Sunday and showeres and storms on Monday.Next week looks cool and unsettled.

HOT!HOT!HOT!

Ok,we were waiting for some summery weather,but as the saying goes,be careful what you wish for. Dangerous Heat indexes yesterday and today,up over 100 degrees in many areas.Heat advisories go into effect at 11 a.m.It was brutally hot yesterday afternoon and a very warm oppressive night.
I went home early and slept most of the afternoon,and feel much better.Rest the best medicine.
Already in the 80's early in the morning.One more warm day tomorrow around 90,before shwrs/thstrms tomorrow afternoon set in and end this mini heatwave.
comfortable weekend,before we head into another cool unsettled period next week.
Redsox seem to like the hot weather,15-5 victory last night.

Start of Summer

Summer starts at around 7 pm tonight,and we start off like midsummer.Heat advisories up for today and tomorrow.Still will be hot on Friday but showers and thunderstorms around as a cold front pushes the heat out to sea.More normal temps into next week.
A little under the weather today,will probably leave early today.I've been battling a little stomach bug since the weekend.Wife seems to have caught it also.
So hope everyone stays cool today,keep pets indoors.Will have to be very careful with prince today,and keep him cool.

transition day

So today will push the temps back to more normal temps near 80,setting us up for the oven the next couple of days. Really concerned about Prince in this weather,will really have to restrict his outside,other than the necessary functions.No walks or very short walks.
Then back to more normal temps this weekend and a little unsettled.

hot end ot spring

It took the start of summer to get into a heatwave although officially you need 3 or more days in a row to make it a heatwave,but Wed. and Thu. should be well up into the 90's,with summer beginning at about 7 pm edt on Wednesday.
It won't last long,with a front going through late Thursday night or early Friday morning.
It has been a cool 3 or 4 days,with temps only making it to 70 and dropping into the 40s at night. More like April weather.
Redsox enjoyed taking 2 out of 3 from the Cubs in Chicago,they continue their winning ways on the road.Unfortunately they come back home and start a series with Miami tomorrow night.
So the start of another work week.It was another busy weekend,sanding the walls in preparation for painting.Our son-in-law will do the painting of the walls,since he does that for a business.

extended period of dry weather

So we have entered a fairly long period of dry weather.First more spring like weather with cool dry weather,but by mid week next week,it will definitely feel more like summer,which something we have not felt yet since April.
Around the country looks like some severe weather out in the midwest and around the rockies,heat in the southwest(what a surprise)
unsettled with areas of heavy rain along the gulf coast into northern florida.
Tropics remain quiet,with some hints of something in the lower Gulf of Mexico/western carribean.A couple models have something forming off the north carolina coast next week,which I doubt will materiaze.
Redsox open up in Chicago tonight.

No subject

Ok,so starting a blog,I have nothing to talk about really.One of those days I have nothing on my mind.
Aggrevating commute into work,of course I only live 10 minutes from work,so not sure I can call it commuting,but police had several streets blocked off on my way in,so had to double back and find an alternate route,and of course along with everyone else it was backed up traffice on all the roads.
Front is slowly making its way along the eastern areas,still lots of clouds and a cool breeze.Much better weather starting tomorrow through Father's day weekend.Cool wind off the ocean will keep eastern sections cooler than farther inland which will well up into the 70's. More summerlike weather for first part of next week.
Redsox had an easy win down in Miami,and are not off to Chicago to face the Cubs over the weekend.Redsox are definitely better on the road than at home so far this season.

Dismal midweek

Wake up to cool wet weather and the mind does not want to get out of bed.Rain should taper off through the day,but doubtful we will see any sun.Slow improvement as we approach the weekend. Kind of like this pattern,rain during the week,dry on the weekend.
Redsox eked one out last night,but they are a boring team to watch. In fact I here doctors prescribing Redsox games for insomniacs.I'm not insomniac,but I have proof they can put you to sleep.
Patriots minicamp started this week,wish we could start football season early.
So people these days don't seem to be getting excitement out of life,so they find really stupid things to do.The popularity of the dumbass movies is proof of that.
1. Two guys climbed up a tv signal tower

Newton Police arrested two men wearing parachute backpacks and helmets after they allegedly tried to climb a Chestnut Street TV tower on Sunday.

Both men were charged with trespassing, disturbing the peace and wanton destruction of property.
How about a charge for excessive stupidity.

2.Kids jumping across the subway tracks from platform to platform????????????If you fall you land on the high voltage rail.

lack of summer warmth

As I've stated many times living near the ocean has its good effects and bad effects.During a hot summer,it can be natural air conditioner,depending on the wind direction.Our summers with west and southwest winds can be extremely hot,but if we get a lot of wind NE,E,or SE,we can be very cool,especially during the spring. By this time of year,we are starting to feel some summer heat at times,but so far,we've had a pretty steady wind off the ocean due either low pressure off the coast or High pressure in the maritimes,which give us a E and NE flow off the still cold waters.And that what can expect right into the weekend.Showers tonight and tomorrow.
I guess our summer was March and April.Mother Nature seems very confused this year.All the heat is in the middle of the country in Southwest and into Texas.

Its Monday again???

It was beautiful Weekend weatherwise,but very busy,not much time to relax,where do those weekends go,get to 5 pm Friday afternoon ,and somebody hits that Fast Forward button and suddenly its Monday morning!!!!!Oh well has started out overcast in the 60's.No real warm weather at this point,although I'll take 70's anytime.It really is amazing how there has been not hot weather,only a couple of days with humidity all of May and now 11 days into June and not real hot or humid days in sight. Looks like Mother Nature tired herself out in March and April. So far in June we're running about 3 degrees below normal.As a concidence,last June was the last time we had a month below normal.
Our Celtics are done in the playoffs,they gave a good fight,but had nothing in the 4th quarter,age,injury caught up with them.Redsox got swept this weekend by the Nationals, and now they are off to Miami.

Friday!!!

Well, Lebron James beat the Celtics last night,it comes down to a seventh game tomorrow night.When a super athlete like him decides to take over the game,not much you can do about it.Can he do again,we'll see.
Redsox finally beat the Orioles last night with a great pitching job by Clay Bucholtz.
Our weather,very foggy this morning,but already burned off,should be a nice day until the cold front approaches and then storms will be firing up.It appears to be a possible severe event west and northern areas,they will probably weaken as they approach east and southern areas,but we'll have to watch this as it developes in the afternoon.
We have an interior decorator coming over tomorrow to help make decisions on color schemes for our family room. Wife is getting to confused with all the opinions and hopefully will get some good advice tomorrow. I will be staining all the molding around the windows and the base board,not one of my favourite jobs,but it will save some money doing it myself.I've done it before and it came out pretty good.

Youtube

I was thinking last night,which I do occasionally think about things.
We all know how Facebook has become such a huge part of our lives all over the world,but every day on the news on some talk show,someone shows a video clip from Youtube.Do you realize how many people look at videos on youtube,whether its a how to do something video,a music video,or some video having to do with a personal event that occured in someone's life that someone captured on camera and posted on youtube.How many times to you get email with a youtube video? I mean almost every day you see a newscast show a video that has "gone viral".
Anyway,thats what I was thinking as I was watching a youtube video on Insider tonight showing a dog go crazy when this woman comes home from Afghanistan after 6 months,it was really cute.
Of course now I can't find it but there a lot of similar youtube videos.

improving conditions

The worst is behind us,although we're not out of the woods yet,actually seeing breaks in the clouds this morning,and as we get some sunshine showers will build up,especially inland. This pattern will continue the rest of the week.The weekend looks warm and sunny,but to more summery type weather rather than March weather.
Our celtics pulled out a big win down in Miami to only need one more back here in Boston tomorrow night. I have to confess that I didn't think this older team could beat those super stars,but again it shows a team wins,not superstars.

the effects of long duration wet and dreary weather

Our wet weather started on Saturday,and is still going on,although it will be slowly improving,not expecting much sun until Friday or Saturday.This does wear on peoples moods after a while,you notice not very many happy faces. For myself,not feeling well as my head has been stuffed up,sinus headaches and just a general feeling of not wanting to get up in the morning.Its amazing how different you feel with bright sunny days.
The good news is the weather pattern looks to be changing,starting this weekend,so we should be up around 80 again,in the meantime mostly cloudy conditions,cool and chances of showers building in the afternoon.

June Nor'easter

It doesn't happen very often in June this more typical of late march,early April,but a strenghtening offshore system is through strong winds and wrap around rain through New England as far west as eastern NY.Temps today will barely get above 50.A little warmer the farther west you go.Last night we had some coastal flooding some coastal cities under 2 or 3 feet of water.It will probably more serious flooding tonight in coastal locations with strong onshore flow and higher astronomical high tides and rough seas.
This system is slowly going to slide SE and east,but pretty much take most of the week to lose its grip.After today,the rain will get more sporadic,but each day there will be threats of shower or drizzle and mist.
So we had June weather in March and March weather in June,Mother Nature sure likes to have fun!!!
Warmer weather by the weekend and a possible warmer pattern change by next week.

Long unsettled cool,wet spell

Spring can have long cool unsettled period,but this usually happens in April or early May.A strong -NAO is setting up this week,which set up blocking out in the Atlantic.What this does is create an upper low which sit and spin over the great lakes,which will in turn send various troughs and lows up along the east coast,and bring cool atlantic moisture.
To start off a cold front will sweep through tomorrow bringing heavy rains for most of the day,severe weather could occur in NY,Penn. and mid-atlantic which will be in the warm sector of this system.It should dry out somewhat Sat. night and Sunday,then the upper low takes over for most of next week,with a strong low pressure forming east of New England which may turn into a gale system spinning in showers and windy conditions off the cold atlantic.Does not look like nice stretch of weather through next week,so June will start out much below normal.May continued the string of above normal weather, finishing a little over 3 degrees above normal.
Although June looks to start out below normal,long range indicates we should get back into some warmer weather by next weekend and beyond.We;ll have to wait and see.
