This year

I guess by now everyone knows this is a west wind summer. No east wind, barely any north wind, and no south wind. This means no thunderstorms for the Longview area at all, lots of low clouds in the morning, and generally boring weather with my high temp for the year only 87 degrees. Yawn.

Why? The Pacific is too darn cold. EPac hurricanes are mostly going west toward Hawaii and not recurving their remnants toward California (only one has so far this year.) Too much zonal jet stream.

The prediction for when summer will end? Early. I'm thinking mid to late September we get a system or two, and generally downhill from there. Maybe a blip or two in October/early November of warmer weather, but generally an early fall.

And guess what? We had our rain mid-September, and our days are now in the low 70s. More rain this weekend, with a nice cold front behind it.

Early August is a nice time to predict fall weather.
