The dosimeters have been in place since Sunday, and both are reading 0.2 mRem or 2.0 microSieverts - a rate of 36.5 mRem/yr or 365 microSieverts/yr. These are background levels - do not panic. Some numbers for comparison:

Average background radiation/year: 360 mRem or 3600 microSieverts (includes food, water consumption etc.)

NRC maximum worker limit: 5000 mRem or 50,000 microSieverts (Source: livescience.com)

What the Fukushima workers are getting: up to 25,000 mRem or 250,000 microSieverts (Source: mercurynews.com)

Start of radiation poisoning symptoms: 100,000 mRem or 1,000,000 microSieverts (Source: Wikipedia)

Certain death: 800,000 mRem or 8,000,000 microSieverts (Source: Wikipedia, 100% death rate)

My on-the-record opinion: Nothing to worry about here.

Next update will be posted Thursday, 3/17.
