Basic SKYWARN Training

By: N2PHI , 5:50 PM GMT on April 17, 2014

Hello Everyone,

Its been a long winter with many SKYWARN Activations for a variety of snow storms.
We are pleased with how many of our spotters joined us over the winter for our
Amateur Radio SKYWARN Nets to make observations and reports for the National
Weather Service. March and April for the most part have been fairly quiet for us as we
have taken a much needed break. Now that spring has finally arrived we are working on
getting back into the swing of things with our training. First up on the list will be a basic SKYWARN Class.

Camden County Office of Emergency Management Amateur Radio Emergency Services in conjunction with the Mount Holly National Weather Service forecast office are pleased to announce the following training:

Basic SKYWARN Training

May 12th, 2014

Camden County Regional Training Center Blackwood NJ

All are welcome to join us. You do not have to be a Amateur Radio Operator to
be involved. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are interested in
learning more about weather and how they can help keep their communities safe
with this training. SKYWARN is a Nationally recognized training conducted by the National
Weather Service teaching individuals techniques in recognizing severe weather and reporting
such promptly to the National Weather Service. Most programs are coordinated through a County Office of Emergency Management. To register for this upcoming training please email us at
eocraces@camdencounty.com or larry.nierenberg@noaa.gov .

More information can be found on the National Weather Service Website for SKYWARN at

Information on getting involved in Amateur Radio or Amateur Radio Emergency Services, please
check out our website at http://www.k2eoc.org . Follow us on twitter @CamCoEMCOMM and on facebook at Camden County Emergency Communications page.

All current certified spotters who have not had a refresher training in Basic SKYWARN in the past two years must attend to stay current. We are looking forward to seeing you at our upcoming training session. Thank You for your interest in protecting your community in weather preparedness.
