October 11, 2006 A pitiful amount of rain the the gauge this morning (0.18"). Our moderate drought continues.
October 5, 2006 Moderate drought. About 10" below normal rainfall here.
September 23, 2006 So far this rainy weekend is not materializing. Plenty of activity to the SE but nothing here, no measurable precip. If the sun breaks out maybe that will fuel some T'storms as the cold front approaches
September 17, 2006 Finally some decent rain, 1.35" but still 8 inches below normal.
September 4, 2006 Labor Day Well, I guess I was right about the rain, as of 1pm we have not gotten any this long weekend. Temps have been cooler which is refreshing after this hot summer but our moderate drought continues. We are almost 9 inches below normal yearly rainfall amounts.
August 24, 2006 A rainy weekend ahead? Given this dry spell I think the precipitation will be limited and certainly not break this moderate drought.
August 18, 2006 Hot and dry weather continues at least for Friday, we are over 8 inches of rain below normal.
August 6, 2006 Hot and dry conditions continue, over 7" below normal on the yearly rainfall. I believe Wright City is doing water use restrictions.
July 29, 2006 Temp is bouncing between 99F and 100F late this afternoon. It's just plain HOT.
July 29, 2006 A late afternoon T'storm that knock out power in O'Fallon brought us 0.8" of needed rain. A few surges and brown outs here but no major power interruptions.
July 26, 2006 The St. Louis metro area slowly returns to normal and so does the weather, hazy, hot and humid is making a come back with scattered T'storms. High dew point temp was 73F with a heat index of 103F.
July 19, 2006 A severe T'storm moved through our area at about 7pm, winds gusted to 25 mph (which is low compared to some areas). Rain was preceded by a dust front that showed on radar images quite clearly. Rainfall totaled 0.61". At the peak of the storm lightning strokes peaked at over 2200 strokes/minute.
July 15, 2006 Tropical air invades our area with dew points in the 70s, air temps in the mid 90s and heat indices around 100F. Just a typical St. Louis summer. This past week's rain was welcome (about 3/4") but our deficit is still more than 7".
July 11, 2006 A morning T'storm was the major contributor to 0.67" rain over the past 2 days.
July 05, 2006 Another month and a similar story, dry. T'storms of the 3rd and 4th left nothing in my rain gauge leaving us nearly 7" below normal. To compensate, Mother Nature is giving us some cooler air this week.
