Fall 2013 Forecast
Issued Sept 21 2013 5:43pm MDT
Overall Fall could be a record breaker particularly in the western regions, with monthly record highs under the gun. Grass fires are also going to be a problem as we make our way through the fall season. So far the month of September is well on it's way to setting a record for the warmest ever. many places are unlikely to close the gap enough to fall below the previous record.
Sept 21-30: Remaining summer like in Alberta and Saskatchewan though with cold nights, near normal in Manitoba. Extremely dry over most areas.
October 1-15: Incredibly hot in Alberta and southern Saskatchewan. Soaring to near 30C in some places. Watch for grass fires as conditions will be extremely dry, humidity as low as 10% or less.
October 15-31: Finally a chance of the first skiff of snow before heating up again by Halloween. Still critically dry.
November 1-15: Highly amplified "pineapple express". Dangerous fire conditions in Alberta with very high winds, record temperatures and very low humidity. Higher humidity in Manitoba combines with the heat to trigger possible severe thunderstorms.
November 15-30: Cold and a possible blizzard finally breaks down the heat. High snowfall amounts likely and welcomed by ski and snowmobile clubs.
December 1-21: Near normal with plenty of snow over most regions. On the dry side in southwestern Alberta
