Long and Wild Night at Nassau, Bahamas !!
Daybreak !! Last night was interested to say the least ! The water in the toilet is swishing back and forth and the wind is screaming through every crack in the building. I was blessed with lights all night long so was able to shoot some video. This morning Irene will make her closest approach to my location and then pull away heading towards the East Coast of the United States. Currently my barometer reads 985mb and falling fast !! Stay tuned for another blog in a few hours once I am able to get more shots....
3:00pm Update (Eastern): Conditions have rapidly improved here at Nassau, Bahamas. We are currently still locked in our hotel but from what I can see there is minor damage outside in the resort areas of paradise island. I need to get a few hours sleep and later today plan on updated my blog with more photos and info. I think our lowest pressure here was around 980mb, but will confirm when I output the date from my barometer...Currently looking into flights to get to the North-East....on Saturday morning, not sure if I can make a double chase out of Hurricane Irene !
Mike Theiss, President of Ultimate Chase, has documented over 25 Hurricane landfalls since 1987 and penatrated the calm eye of 8 of these Hurricanes !
