By: McMurryUniversity, 4:06 PM GMT on October 31, 2012

Conducted fall inspection of the weather station this morning. During the inspection we look for debree obstructing the weather station, loose bolts, and any sign of malfunction. Every thing checked out to be visually sound.

We are moving

By: McMurryUniversity, 6:11 PM GMT on October 24, 2012

I have been in contact with weather underground over the past several weeks concerning repeated removal of our station feed. After evaluating the data and looking at our station my conclusion is we are measuring heat island effect due to our location inside Abilene. This is something we cannot change or correct. Our data is what it is and we are not outside measurement or setup parameters guidelines. Because we have reached an impasse, I have decided to seek alternative venues to report our data to our students and the greater Abilene area. My apologies for disruption in data as we make this move.

Currently we are working on creating our own website as well as feeding data to Weather bug. Once again, thank you for your patience as we make the change over.

Hello Tim,

The station has been failing quality control checks that compare its temperature with surrounding areas, and it has exceeded an allowed variance. Please check your station to see if something is affecting its thermometer or the shielding.

Thanks!

I didn't realize I had to match other stations at ground level in rural enviroments. Our weather station is 40 feet in the air in the middle of an urban setting. We will never be able to match weather data taken 15 miles out of the city. So much for blind research.

We are still here

By: McMurryUniversity, 6:19 PM GMT on October 15, 2012

We have noticed that the station is no longer being reported on the map. Our data is still uploading to wunderground. Please be patient as we try to find out why our station is no longer being reported to the interactive map.

Thanks,
