Yesterday was a very sad day in Clackamas, OR. A single gunman entered the mall with 10000 Christmas shoppers and sales associates. He opened fire and set off over 60 rounds of assault rounds.
Sadly, he killed two and wounded a 15 year old young woman..with a chest wound. Then he turned the gun on himself.
This is a season of perpetual hope. I am praying that our community will unite in these sad times and rekindle the peace that all are entitled to. Not only this season, but all year long.
Please, join me in prayer for the victims and their families.

there is a microscope at work that puts the room to your back while you use it. I have noticed that when I sit at that scope, my productivity goes way way down.
the scope that I like to sit at allows me to watch the room with my side vision while I work.
Are you ready for Christmas?
And the strange post from Auburn was because we had a spammer dropping that post all over the blogs. I clicked on the report icon dozens of times, and Aubie eventually sent a note to admin and it was removed.
Sad story, one which, sadly is being repeated by far too many sad and angry people around the globe...
Pray for peace.

I do have to work both eve and day, but I managed to arrange late arrival on Christmas day to enable me to spend some of the eve with family, and attend Mass on Christmas Day. - knowing that I have to work on the Holy Day, kinda detracts from some of the festivities.
Baha, Hardy Boys Mystery Novels, Sherlock Holmes, Louis L'Amour, Zane Grey...They were part of my childhood and young adult life. They may be contributors as well.

MM had it in his hair and ears, but he really enjoyed it.

I cannot wait to recover from the day and actually start enjoying my weekend.
I have so many projects to do, I just stand still with my jaw on the ground, not doing anything. Maybe things will improve after the holidays.
The temp was in the 30's and I had to open the doors to clear out whatever smoke was setting off the alarm.
no wonder I hardly ever cook.
I hope you did too, and didn't have to get the fire brigade to your cooking!!
Let's hope 2013 is a much better year for all!
I do hope 2013 is a very happy, healthy and safe year for you and your family.
I hope your New Year is great - the celebrations, of course, but the year as a whole, too. Happy New Year!
Other than having to work, I had a really great Christmas. I hope all of you did as well.
Peace and love.

Very sensible to have it checked out. Glad to see you had a good Christmas and New year.
Have you made any resolutions? Anything you would like to achieve in 2013 ?
I mean, are you planning on moving again?? Lol
My new year resolution for this year is:
digitize!
photos, negatives, short stories, and anything else I can think of.
In doing this, I will be downsizing to fit my current apartment.
what about you?
I want to get out with my camera and enjoy being outside....I couldn't do that last year!
And get fit!! Sitting around, doing nothing whilst I recovered, has meant I have got sluggish!!
I am slowly working out my list that I have given myself for the year. It's gonna take some time to get it done.
I have also decided to start making the slippers for my friend's five kids for next christmas. If I start now, I just might get it done in time for next holiday season. (I know how I work.)
I already have ideas for next year's list. I don't want to over burden myself for this year. LOL!
I have over a hundred of them...
I am not sure, but I think I may have also felt an after shock or two. they were nothing like the main event.
Busy with Jury service.... hope you are OK, apart from shaking!
in 2001, I was sleeping for graveyard shift and during the noon hour, there was a quake in Olympia, WA. It felt like somebody really strong was standing at the foot of my bed and lifting it by the foot board. I looked down expecting to see either the guy who used to play the hulk. Lou... or Arnie, but that was when I realized what was actually happening.
I jumped up and ran for the doorway. I didn't get much sleep the rest of that day, but then again neither did anyone else from my shift that night.

last week, I was driving home from my parents' house and a black SUV started to take an exit, but decided not to (cutting me off), then decided that maybe they did need that same exit, but maybe not (cutting me off again).... I was getting frustrated and their indecision so I laid on the horn. ...
I am not sure what was more frustrating. the jerk who cut me off twice in one exit, or the damn horn that sounded so puny that it was more like a little voice saying,"please, excuse me. I don't mean to upset you, but you have forgotten that you are not the only car on the road?"
Long story short, I have ordered a new horn for my car. that actually sounds like a car horn should. If I could have afforded a semi air horn.. believe me, I would have ordered that.
argggghhhhh!!
Sorry!
I remember when my old Honda prelude began to beep its horn and wouldn't stop. I was in the middle of York, in traffic, and began to get some funny looks! I took the next turning into a side street and grabbed the handbook. I found out which fuse was for the horn and pulled it... Argh, silence!
I then took the car to the garage the next day and told them to look at the horn, as it had a short somewhere.
The greasy mechanic looked at me and said...how do you know? So I told him what happened and what I had done. He then looked at me as though I had horns!
I could almost see him thinking...a woman who understands how cars work!! lol
Happy week... Hope there are no more rumbles.
This week I am doing my best at kicking back...er..trying to. Did all my running around today and paying bills, so tomorrow, I can work on family tree, and do laundry, or whatever.
Saturday, I will be going over to my brother's house and we will compare notes for our own family trees. He has been working on his quite a bit longer than I have been working on mine. He has applied for admission into one of the family clans to get more assistance on the parts that he is stuck on.
Tonight he mentioned that he has a dead end at great grand dad Hugh's line....what did I do? texted my Aunt in Coos Bay and ask her if she would share any information she might have on him. (I am so bad!). She said that when she got home from work, she would send it to me. - that would be wonderful if I could have that info in my tree before we gather on Saturday. LOL!!!
I have got back to the middle of the 17th century on my mothers maternal side, but my dad's side stops after his mother... more digging required!
Have a good weekend.
I learned some unique things. I don't have the notes with me right now, but I learned that one of my ancestors fought next to Daniel Boone, then asked his commanding officer if he could marry the daughter. Imagine the nerve?!
I decided to research the steamship Ethiopia. mainly looking for a photo, but found a newspaper article explaining that after leaving NY Harbor on June 2, 1894 and hit an ice burg on June 5th. The captain did order the boats over the side, but later retracted that command when he learned that there was no water in the hull. they moved the cargo aft, and packed the hole with flour bags.
With this they were able to sail into Glasgow and the flour had turned to cement! The following May, My great(3x) grandmother arrived to the US on that very ship.
How crazy is that?!
I laid there for a few moments to see if the owner was right there and would turn it off, but it kept going. So, I jumped up and looked out of my bedroom window, and lo and behold, it was MY car!
I ran to the other room to get my clicker and then stood at the window and reset the alarm. I am so sure that it is to my neighbor's dismay that I have officially tested out the new horn on my car - It works great!
getting back to sleep was another matter.
This morning when I went down to investigate, all was well. The car was secure and all windows were present and accounted for. I hope that it was a cat or other wild animal that had just jumped onto the car. It was raining, so there were no prints...or anything else from the animal being scared like I am sure it was. LOL!!
So the new car horn is TOO loud, is it! lol
Did the neighbours complain?
I am hoping to getting a new DSLR camera in two weeks when I get my profit sharing check. I am looking at the Nikon D3200. The next task is learning to use it. Not a bad summer project if I do say so. At least it will get me out of the house for most of the summer. I am looking into possible classes.
I have checked out "Digital Photography Exposures for Dummies" from the library. I am looking for online lessons and hoping that by summer term at the community college I am able to take a class. Either that it would be really cool to find a mentor who would be willing to teach and coach me, but I have no idea who it would be.

Have a good weekend:)
Great information. I love the information on the color wheel page. I have bookmarked it for future reference. The other page looks to have a lot of good information, and I have also bookmarked it to further investigate it in more depth.
I know that I am going to have to read all information more than once. Unfortunately, I don't have quick retention when I am learning new things. I am very envious of those who do.
right now, I plan to focus on the Dummies Book before I need to return it to the library. I know I will have to eventually purchase the book so that I can highlight and tab the pages and parts that I know I will need to refer to often. However, financially I am trying to maximize my savings for the camera.
