With the new layout Wunderground has also revised its guidelines on manipulated images:
About manipulated Wunderphotos...
"Anything more than clarification is manipulation..."
Wunderphotographers include a wide range of expertise and equipment. Everyone wants their photo to look the best possible and in the interest of clarity and putting one's best foot forward, we allow modification of images to improve the picture. What we don't want is for photos to look unrealistic or unnatural.
I really think this is a good step for Wunderground for many reasons. The new guidelines are not too specific, and I think that is a good thing given the inseparable interrelationship of member integrity and personal editing choices. There remains the issue of redefining "fake" images to be consistent with the new guidelines for manipulated images. Kudos to WU to constantly endeavering to make this site better for its members.
The Wunderground administrators are clearly some hardworking folks who respond to members comments and requests and who want to help develop a good community of weather-watchers and weather photogs.
