FINN SALUTES ALL OLD AND NEW FRIENDS! Double Kiss

HERE ARE SOME PHOTOS FROM MY TRAVELS AROUND THE WORLD :)

While keeping an eye on the tropics this summer, I'm looking forward to having time to post some fun stuff every now and then... But first things first: It is THE YEAR OF THE TIGER and - according to old Chinese wisdom - if you visit a Tiger's house during the this year, you'll be safe.
I'm a Tiger, so welcome and stay... safe! :)

A rare piece of WU history from August 2005 by STORMTOP, Lefty and others on Katrina in comment # 43.

THE HOT SUMMER IS A VERY DANGEROUS TIME FOR PETS. EVERY YEAR, COUNTLESS DOGS DIE AFTER OVERHEATING INSIDE PARKED CARS. ON A RELATIVELY MILD 70-DEGREE DAY, THE TEMPERATURE INSIDE A PARKED CAR CAN REACH 120 DEGREES IN MINUTES, EVEN WITH THE WINDOWS SLIGHTLY OPEN. LEAVING YOUR DOG IN THE CAR WHILE YOU RUN ERRANDS COULD LEAD TO TRAGEDY.
IF YOU SEE A DOG IN A CAR, EVEN WITH WINDOWS OPEN, OLEASE WAIT A FEW MINUTES ND SEE IF THE OWNER ARRIVES. IF THE DOG IS PANTING AND LOOKS DIZZY, CALL 911. YOU MAT SAVE THAT DOG’S LIFE.

May there always be work for your hands to do.
May your purse always hold a coin or two.
May the sun always shine upon your window pane.
May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain.
May the hand of a friend always be near to you and
May God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you.

Many warm wishes for you and yours this Christmas Day.

"We hear the beating of wings over Bethlehem and a light that is not of the sun or of the stars shines in the midnight sky. Let the beauty of the story take away all narrowness, all thought of formal creeds. Let it be remembered as a story that has happened again and again, to men of many different races, that has been expressed through many religions, that has been called by many different names. Time and space and language lay no limitations upon human brotherhood."

~New York Times, 25 December 1937, quoted in Quotations for Special Occasions by Maud van Buren, 1938, published by The H.W. Wilson Company, New York

Flip Flops + Canoe = Happiness
Is there any flooding around your business? It is so strange here. The sun is shining and it is 78º Just that little move to the east took Nicole away from us. We may get a little wrap around rain later this afternoon.

I feel much safer after visiting my friend Finn's blog. You stay safe and dry. You have chosen the proper equipment for this flooding event.

It ain't over till it's over:
1055 am EDT Wed Sep 29 2010

... Flood Watch remains in effect until 8 PM EDT this evening...

The Flood Watch continues for

* a portion of South Florida... including the following areas...
coastal Broward... coastal Miami Dade... coastal Palm Beach...
far South Miami Dade... inland Broward... inland Miami Dade...
inland Palm Beach... Metro Broward... Metro Miami Dade and Metro
Palm Beach.

* Until 8 PM EDT this evening

* copious amounts of moisture from Tropical Storm Nicole will be
transported across South Florida through this evening. Periods
of heavy rainfall can be expected.

* Additional widespread rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches can be
expected by evening. This will result in storm total rainfall
amounts of 4 to 8 inches... with locally higher amounts likely.

* Street and low lying flooding can be expected through early evening.
There is a possibility for significant flooding... with roads
becoming impassable and flood waters entering structures.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.

Dad's funeral was yesterday. The night before, our city sky was lit with the most magnificent fireworks Finland has ever seen - by "coincidence". The priest who came to bless "The Temple of Dad's Soul" brought with him a Power and a Presence none of us will ever forget. We buried Dad's ashes at the WW1 and WW2 veterans' graveyard in Helsinki, a beautiful place by the seashore.

In the coming weeks Finland will officially pay homage to Dad (he was a war hero and legend in the Medical field here) and all kinds of media stuff will start after I return to FL on Thursday. Glad I'm far away from that.
I'll bring some of his ashes with me, we'll have one more angel looking after us on "our" side of the Atlantic :)

Thank you m'friends for being with me, your loving thoughts and prayers have crossed the Atlantic to my heart - and you have kept me updated on the blobs with your blogs! TTYS

Oh ((Finn))...
What huri said.

DEATH be not proud, though some have called thee
Mighty and dreadfull, for, thou art not so,
For, those, whom thou think'st, thou dost overthrow,
Die not, poore death, nor yet canst thou kill me.
From rest and sleepe, which but thy pictures bee,
Much pleasure, then from thee, much more must flow,
And soonest our best men with thee doe goe,
Rest of their bones, and soules deliverie.
Thou art slave to Fate, Chance, kings, and desperate men,
And dost with poyson, warre, and sicknesse dwell,
And poppie, or charmes can make us sleepe as well,
And better then thy stroake; why swell'st thou then;
One short sleepe past, wee wake eternally,
And death shall be no more; death, thou shalt die.

I am so sorry to hear of your father's passing but glad to know that he was surrounded by his loved ones when he crossed over.

May you and your family be comforted by the thought that he is now with his loved ones that have gone before.

You chose some lovely words to accompany the picture of you and your father.

Know that many prayers and loving thoughts are being sent your way.

I'd like to add these words by Kahlil Gibran:

You would know the secret of death.
But how shall you find it unless you seek it in the heart of life?
The owl whose night-bound eyes are blind unto the day cannot unveil the mystery of light.
If you would indeed behold the spirit of death, open your heart wide unto the body of life.
For life and death are one, even as the river and the sea are one.

In the depth of your hopes and desires lies your silent knowledge of the beyond;
And like seeds dreaming beneath the snow your heart dreams of spring.
Trust the dreams, for in them is hidden the gate to eternity.
Your fear of death is but the trembling of the shepherd when he stands before the king whose hand is to be laid upon him in honour.
Is the shepherd not joyful beneath his trembling, that he shall wear the mark of the king?
Yet is he not more mindful of his trembling?

For what is it to die but to stand naked in the wind and to melt into the sun?
And what is it to cease breathing, but to free the breath from its restless tides, that it may rise and expand and seek God unencumbered?

Only when you drink from the river of silence shall you indeed sing.
And when you have reached the mountain top, then you shall begin to climb.
And when the earth shall claim your limbs, then shall you truly dance.

So sorry to learn of your Dad's passing, my sincere condolences dear (((Finn)))...

Never Alone
by Rodney Belcher

I feel you in the morning
When at first I awake
Your thought is with me
With each decision I make

You'd been around forever
Since the first breath I took
Now I have to go on alone
But for love, I need not look

Cause by what you bestowed
In our short time together
Will last in my heart
Forever and ever

Although you've left
And now walk above
I'm never alone
I'm wrapped in your love

Enjoy now your long waited reward
Feel peace that your love continues on
What was taught to me, will be taught to mine
Cause you live on in me even after you've gone.

Finn, I sm so very sorry. I am glad you had the time together when your dad left this crazy world. Happiness is now his forever. He loved you so much and was so proud of you. You in turn loved him with all your heart. He will be part of your soul forever.

Today my 88-yr old Dad passed on peacefully at his home here in Helsinki. His last days were filled with love of his children, grandchildren and one great grandchild.
I was with him, and he left with a smile on his face.

I stand at the seashore.
A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean.
She is an object of beauty and strength and I stand and watch her until at length she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come down to mingle with each other. Then someone at my side says:
"There! She's gone."
Gone where? Gone from my sight, that is all. She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side, and just as able to bear her load of living freight to the place of destination.
Her diminished size is in me, not in her: and just at the moment when someone at my side says: "There! She's gone," there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout, "There! She comes!"

{{{Pros}}} Glad you liked the pics, lot more to upload when time permits... Meeting Mother Teresa was one of those profound experiences that can can change a life forever, it changed mine :) I went on a pilgrimage to Tibet after meeting with her and started a daily practice of meditation and gratitude.

The Tibetan monk in another pic with me is also someone very special I have met on my trips. We became very good friends and met frequently in India until he was elected Prime Minister of the Tibetan Government in exile. I haven't seen him since and miss talking with him a lot. He's the in the same category with Mother Teresa - the gentlest and most compassionate loving beings on earth.

I just read your link to the Katrina/StormTop comments.
It was great. I have gone back and read thru Dr master's archives many times but there was so much "clutter" in the original, I love the way you took the meat of the content to focus on StormTop.

Yes, since Katrina he become a little more "quirky" than normal but he was dead on for Katrina from the beginning.

Reading those posts brought back lots of memories!

Thanks for the link and putting it together for us.

Good afternoon Miss Finn,

Enjoyed the visit last night, and many Thanks for the greetings again today!

LOL, on the above quotes... I may have to check that out... Sure glad I gave up forecasting attempts, prefer being a mere observer of weather! And I keep those confined, hidden within my blog away from headlines... ;)

And darn, I saw you'd posted the STORMTOP chronicles, thought I had commented here... musta used invisible ink if did, lol... Anyway, yes I still have that link saved too, but forgot who put it together... If ya read Dr Jeff's archive from a couple days even before these posts, can see ST was obsessed with Katrina becoming a Cat 5, as if had a vision / was psychic about it... even before had a clear idea which storm it would become or where would go... was worried another storm candidate would be named K when knew that particular one had no chance to blow up... But really latched onto it when TD 10/12 became apparent... Like many, I wasn't yet a member at the time but was reading along daily, so I both smiled at and admired ST for his gutsy call! (and defended him later against some nit-pickers, lol)

And I remember this - I was seeing the same thing evolving (as did NOLA TV forecaster Bob Breck, when we watched a preceeding small ULL carve out a path indicating the steering ridge pattern ahead on WV loop)... getting horrified as knew it was coming here while kept hearing insistence on a NW FL track... knew it at least a full day before the NHC did there infamous 170 mile WWD track shift from FL to LA that fateful Friday eve! And pandemonium set in for the masses... Katrina hit the following Sun night / Mon morn...

LOL, ST may have rarely got any other storm correct, but he totally nailed Katrina 5-6 days ahead!

Okay, enough memory lane stuff...
Have a fine aftn / eve Finn!
