Hi Finn! I finally have a story for this great blog!

A friend moved to Tampa a few months ago and he has been feeling down and depressed since his kids are here (Louisiana). So he said he wanted to get a dog (since he likes mine so much) and asked if I could help. He wants one to cuddle with at night and run on the beach during the day. I told him that a yorkie really might not want to run on the beach but that I thought he needed something like a jack russell (still manly but yet small enough to have as a lap dog)

Sunday I got on Petfinder and narrowed my search to the Tampa area. I looked at dogs for 2 hours! And then I clicked on the one! I found a beautiful female jack russell, almost two years old, loves to cuddle and sit on your lap, very affectionate, and loves to play! I made a few calls and found out she was still available for adoption.

So I called him (he was driving from Pensacola back to Tampa) and told him that his new best friend was waiting to meet him in Ocala. He stopped in Ocala on his way home and fell in love! They didn't know what her name was originally, so her new name is Harley Girl and she is about to be spoiled rotten! Hopefully I will get to meet her next month.

Great job Tricia!!! I love to hear these. Wish that I could have all the animals I would like to have. Tell him congrats for me! You have a good friend, and are a good friend yourself.

Thanks Code! If I could afford it, I would have a rather large shelter and a huge ranch! When I was little, my mom was amazed with all the strays that ended up at our house.

I know he and Harley are going to be very happy. She loves to ride so he plans on taking her on all of his trips in his truck, and hopefully on his harley.

You and me both Tricia! Your mom sounds like me, have done that soooo many times over the years. Let's make a pact now, if either of us ever wins the lotto, let's do it!!!

1. Dogs are never permitted in the house. The dog stays outside in a specially built wooden compartment named, for very good reason, the dog house.

2. Okay, the dog can enter the house, but only for short visits or if his own house is under renovation.

3. Okay, the dog can stay in the house on a permanent basis, provided his dog house can be sold in a yard sale to a rookie dog owner.

4. Inside the house, the dog is not allowed to run free and is confined to a comfortable but secure metal cage.

5. Okay, the cage becomes part of a two-for-one deal along with the dog house in the yard sale, and the dog can go wherever he pleases.

6. The dog is never allowed on the furniture.

7. Okay, the dog can get on the old furniture but not the new furniture.

8. Okay, the dog can get up on the new furniture until it looks like the old furniture and then we'll sell the whole works and buy new furniture... upon which the dog will most definitely not be allowed.

9. The dog never sleeps on the bed. Period.

10. Okay, the dog can sleep at the foot of the bed.

11. Okay, the dog can sleep alongside you, but he's not allowed under the covers.

12. Okay, the dog can sleep under the covers but not with his head on the pillow.

13. Okay, the dog can sleep alongside you under the covers with his head on the pillow, but if he snores he's got to leave the room.

14. Okay, the dog can sleep and snore and have nightmares in bed, but he's not to come in and sleep on the couch in the TV room, where I'm now sleeping. That's just not fair.

15. The dog never gets listed on the census questionnaire as"primary resident," even if it's true.

I would love to join you all in some fun banter tonight, the problem is I am 3 hours earlier than you. So 7PM for you is 4PM for me.

My day isn't near done enough to be just sitting around. Try to make at least a few stay so I can join you later in the evening! That fun stuff is just the kind of stuff I miss doing with you guys!

That said, if this weather doesn't clear, I might be down enough to be here. I need a portion of sunshine everyday and we are in the midst of May Gray - yesterday never saw the sun. I heard my daughter had some at her house yesterday, so I forwarned her - if she gets it today and we don't - I'm on my way over!!! Gotta have that vitamin D ya know! LOL

LOL Karen. So true for so many new owners. I never had those rules though, you see, I have always thought my dogs were just more babies I had!

Liisa, I wrote this long post to you and I guess I forgot to post it. Duh! Thank you so much for the lovely post in my blog. We are one big family and we will be looking after each other in the days to come. Could you prehaps post what you feel we need to have ready for our pets and the best way to handle them during a hurricane. It seems like the East Coast of the United States has a very high risk this year so we need to really be ready. Thanks again and make it a terrific Thursday!
