There are plans to eventually extend Nimmo Trail from Lago Mar to the Sandbridge. It is currently half way there. We anxiously await city approval to finish the last mile and a half through Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge to the Atlantic Ocean.
For more information and to support the project,
Some folks would like to see the Walking / Bike Trail along Nimmo extended to Sandbridge Beach so we could get there on our bikes instead of driving. Folks in Sandbridge could bike to Red Mill Commons or beyond.
The City is asking for a Federal Grant to help build the Trail but there is competition. If we all send in our thoughts on the project, perhaps it will be built. The Hampton Roads Transportation Planning Organization [ HRTPO ] is sponsoring a Survey regarding all the competing projects.
The email below links to the HRTPO website and the links to the Survey.
