The morning was partly sunny but that soon gave way to overcast skies and, around 2PM, it began to drizzle and has been doing so for the past 5 hours. This is more like normal for us at this time of year.

I have lots of screws etc in my repaired hip and that's been the case for almost 7 years but now I must get the whole mess replaced if I can afford it.

Quoting BLKinIDAHO:
More bad news at the Dr.'s office today. Ernie has to go into surgeory for an infection on one of his "pin" sites on his leg and to have a bone graft on his right leg. Surgeory is scheduled for Mon. 12:30 and he will have to stay 1-2 days. The poor guy just can't get a break on his accident.
Thanks for listening to my venting. I have a hard time talking about this and it is in some way, my "release."

I have not been to Maui for 30+ years. Never liked it much.

Normal is good!

Do you happen to know anything about hiking trails on Maui? There's a marvelous Canadian nature photographer I look in on from time to time. He's traveling to Maui toward the end of the month and just was asking on his blog if anyone had any recommendations, especially for out of the way spots. Anything that's standard stuff on the web and such he can get, but sometimes locals know of special places that don't get so much publicity.

BLKinIDAHO - so sorry to hear all that medical news. I'm not up on all the details, but I've been through a double ankle break with my mom, a couple of friend's knee replacements and a current situation with another friend who just broke her right arm and left knee. You have every bit of my sympathy, and best wishes for Ernie!

Snowed yesterday and today. Fortunately, it warms up enough during the day to melt it. Went to Pocatello fri/sat for a judo tournament. (About 4 hours away). Congratulations to my youngest son (10) and the 3 other judokas I brought with me. They ALL took 1st place for their age and weight competitions.
