Good Afternoon! At Smithville, MS, the current temperature is 45 and it feels like 42. A Special Weather Statement is in effect for North MS concerning a significant winter storm possible over portions of the MidSouth late Tuesday into early Wednesday morning. Highs will continue to range between 42 and 65 with lows between 26 and 50. There is a 40% chance of showers today and a 70% chance of rain/thunder on Tuesday. Few storms could be strong to severe on late Sunday into early Monday morning. Main threats will be for small hail and gusty winds. Some storms could be strong to severe on Tuesday with the main threats being for large hail, damaging winds, tornadoes, heavy rainfall of 1-3 inches, and flash flooding. Dr. Greg Forbes, the severe weather expert at The Weather Channel, is giving a 4 out of 10 on the TOR:CON (Tornado Condition Index) for Central and South MS for Tuesday. This means that there is a 40% chance of seeing a tornado within a 50 mile radius. At the Regional Rehab Center in Tupelo, MS, the current temperature is 45 and it feels like 40. Todays high is 52 and a low of 49 with a 40% chance of showers. Mondays high is 62.
