Tony weakening, Hurricane Sandy intensifys; Eastern Pacific quiet

Good Morning! At Smithville, MS, the current temperature is 54 and it feels like 54. Highs will continue to range between 58 and 83 with lows between 37 and 57. There is a slight chance of isolated thunderstorms late Friday into Saturday morning. At the Regional Rehab Center in Tupelo, MS, the current temperature is 57 and it feels like 57. Todays high is 81 with a low of 57. Fridays high is 71.

Now, for your tropical update. In the Atlantic, Hurricane Sandy is intensifying. Winds are at 105mph with a pressure of 960mbars. Movement is North at 18mph. Hurricane Warning is in effect for Eastern Cuba, and the Bahamas. Tropical Storm Watch is up for South Florida up to the Florida/Georgia Border. A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for most of the East Coast of Florida, for the Turks/Caicos, and for Haiti. Sandy is expected to head Northward toward the Bahamas and the East Coast. Also, in the Atlantic, we have Tropical Storm Tony. Winds are at 45mph with a pressure of 1002mbars. Movement is East-Northeast at 23mph. May have some impacts on the Azores as a remnant low. In the Eastern Pacific, all is quiet.

You should be able to go since Sandy is gone and I dont see any more threats from the Atlantic over the next several days.

Hi AuntAvis, I visit Johnny's blog often, There is no problem from Tony, he is way out in the Atlantic. As for anything else forming in the next week or two, yes it could happen.

Hi Johnny!
I am thinking of planning a last minute trip to Cuba, in a week or two. Do you foresee Tropical storm Tony being a problem, or is it fading? Also, I know it is hurricane season, but do you see any little blips out there that might arise?
