Good Morning! At Smithville, MS, the current temperature is 53 and it feels like 53. A Special Weather Statement is in effect concerning severe weather later today/tonight. Highs will continue to range between 72 and 81 with lows between 45 and 53. There is a slight chance of isolated thunderstorms late Wednesday into Thursday. Few storms could be strong to severe with large hail and damaging winds. Isolated tornadoes are possible. A strong tornado or two cannot be ruled out. Dr. Greg Forbes, the severe weather expert at The Weather Channel, is giving Northwest, West-Central MS a 4 out of 10 on the TOR:CON (Tornado Condition Index) for today. This means that there is a 40% chance of seeing a tornado within a 50 miles radius. At the Regional Rehab Center in Tupelo, MS, the current temperature is 55 and it feels like 55. Todays high is 79 with a low of 50. Thursdays high is 72.
Now, for your tropical update. In the Atlantic, Hurricane Rafael has weakened some and should continue to weaken as it moves pass Bermuda. Winds are at 80mph with a pressure of 974mbars. Movement is North-Northeast at 33mph. In the Eastern Pacific, Tropical Storm Paul has weakened. Winds are at 45mph with a pressure of 997mbars. Movement is Northwest at 13mph.Tropical Storm Watch and Warning is in effect for a portion of the Baja California Peninsula.
