Heavy rains from Tropical Cyclone Irina have killed 72 people on Madagascar and left 70,000 homeless, according to news reports. Irina never reached hurricane strength, but dumped heavy rains on the island over an extended period, February 29 - March 2. The area affected was remote, so the reports of the disaster only today reached the outside world. Irina is the deadliest tropical cyclone of 2012 thus far, and the second deadly storm to affect the island in recent weeks; Tropical Cyclone Giovanna hit the island two weeks ago as a Category 3 storm, killing 35 and leaving 240,000 homeless. Irina is expected to dissipate over cold waters southwest of Madagascar over the next day.

I'll have a new post on Thursday.

-_- Ok thats taking it a bit far. Good ammount of truth but downfall of the US? The downfall of the US may be the tremdous debt we keep collecting.

You may be right but our debt is due to a large part that we keep sending our jobs over seas and one day soon we will wake up and find out we make nothing!!

Welcome to the New Rome.

Have you ever seen a Wal Mart Convention?

Remember before the downfall of Rome what the last emperors did to try and stay into power for as long as they could:

Bread
and
Circuses

Bread = Welfare, Obamacare, and free stuff for everyone.

Circuses = Has anyone been watching the news recently? Half of it is stupid celebrity nonsense and talking heads trying to outdo each other. And the biggest news isn't the brewing Middle East war or oil prices, it's "Snooki Engaged and Pregnant!!!"

Welcome to the start of the downfall of the American Empire, people. Brought to you by large corporations, political greed and the politicians quest for power!

As seen by a realist concerned by recent world events.

They will? Are you crazy? (ok, I don't believe it:P) It's these businesses that keep the politicians paid and happy, they won't even dare touch their top supporters.

When the media was all worked up over debt (the problem still hasn't disappeared though), the republicans had no choice but to stop any bill that increased taxes on their top supporters, the rich. Without the rich they would be a shadow of what they are today.
Ok who elects them to office? The top rich are a tiny ammount of the US population. At some point they will have to listen to there constituency. Money really helps get them re-elected and thats about it. And it really pisses me off how people only blame the Republicans. Its EVERYONE! Best way to fix it is put a limit on terms and stop the fact that working for congress is now a caree instead of a service.

As mentioned - Ophelia.

2011's Hurricane Ophelia was by far one of the more impressive hurricanes I have ever seen in the Atlantic ocean, in terms of fish storms. Of course, it pales in comparison to storms like Gustav, Dean, Katrina, Wilma, ect, but at first glace you'd think that's an August major hurricane heading westward, but in truth it's October and it's a CV major hurricane moving north of Bermuda. Rare indeed. That and the fact the comeback it made after dissipating over the islands was highly noticeable.
Ophelia had the best comback of any storm(besides Andrew) that I've seen.Once storms are in her postion disspate theirs no comming back.A unique storm indeed :).

John McCain wants to pass dis bill that allows the military to snoop around the civilian internet.

By my reckoning, we sunk SOPA so we can blow dis one out of the water

That deserves a LOL. All I know Teddy, is that I have been around a long time. I have never, (or the New York expression, nevuh) seen it this dry for so many years. The weather pattern has changed dramatically in the past 10 years. This Florida weather is hotter and drier than I ever remember. When I was younger, it would rain like clock-work every day starting in June. We would get more rain in June than any other month.

I agree, I've only lived in Florida for 6 years, but I remember when I was little at my grandmothers house it did rain a lot. Now, it seems like in the summer it's just dry and hot. I think the only year where it was normal was 2009, though that might be because there was one thunderstorm in 2009 that was so bad it took out transformers all over my place.

Yah I think I was talking about the US side of it and you were talking about the foreign side of it. People could stop this but its not going to happen. Who in the right mind is going to shop at a store with the same products for a higher price? In this fact I think Wal-Mart has formed a monopoly on retail.

corporate policy = politician, dont belive what either one says, even if it is on paper

Charlton Heston "Soylent Green is people"
Mitt Romney "Corporations are people my friend"

The commutative property in mathematics tells us that if A = B and B = C then A = C. Therefore Charlton Heston and Mitt Romney are telling us that corporations = Soylent Green.
