Today was very typical of the beginning of the rainy season and with 2-3 more similar days in the forecast that looks more and more likely. Add in anything that were to develop in the W.Caribbean and head our way and there will be enough moisture in the ground to trigger the daily storm cycle though seabreeze interaction with evaporation of everglades moisture. That is exactly what never happened last season and is largely why the Lake and western Peninsula went so dry last summer. I don't see a repeat of last summer this time around, in fact i believe it will be a very wet summer for the entire Florida peninsula. Summer usually starts with a more SW wind flow and the eastern communities getting the rain but that usually shifts to a more SE flow as the Bermuda High builds in which sends the afternoon rains to the inland and western side of the state by July. During that time the east coast gets alot more rain at night or in the morning. Usually this pattern will shift back and forth a few times during the summer as troughs push the A/B high southward from time to time. At the end of the summer the pattern generally shifts back with the Afternoon Storms heading to the east coast again as the Bermuda high weakens and moves southward toward the W.Caribbean. Over the summer, I intend to document this weather pattern and how a slight change in winds changes the pattern from a night/morning rainfall pattern to a an afternoon pattern depending on location.
