InCozumel

Everyday that goes by brings sad news as well as happy ones. Lots of locals are out of work and there is no government funding like in the US to help them along. There has been aid/food shipments coming in daily with navy helicopters, hercules transport planes and the passaenger ferries have started to operate. Tomorrow we may see the first carry ferry come in with supplies as well. CFE (Mexican electric company) has brought in additional 1000 workers to aid with the power restoration. Some parts of Cozumel already have power and they are actually hoping to restore the power to the island 100% in 15 days. The water is starting to get pumped in as well, not everywhere though. There is extensive damage to the waterfront and some of the big piers, including Carnival's own pier is damaged, actually there is pier left. The roads to north and south of the town are blocked by police to prevent further looting as some theft has already occured. I will be posting some photos, not too many, as I could not bring myself to shoot the misfortune of others but I will post my house before and after Emily as well some of the boats in our marina. During Emily all of the waterfront and 3 to 4 blocks in was flooded with the storm surge, levels above the 50 year flood. This is it for now as I have to go abck to working and getting our boats ready for trip to Progresso to get repaired as our dry marina is damaged as well and there is minimal supplies to perform repairs here.
