A note about launch service suspensions

Yesterday the IBYC launch operator temporarily suspended launch service due to extremely high winds.

These temporary launch service interruptions, although quite necessary, can be very frustrating to our boating members (especially to those who actually arrive at the waterfront and learn of it then and there). And because Plum Island Sound has it's own unique weather, launch service interruptions are difficult to predict (for example, I have seen wind speeds that exceed many local forecasts by as much as 15 mph!!)

So if inclement weather is forecast, here are some suggestions for checking launch service status in advance of your trip up to the club.

1) Call the dock house at 978-356-2029
or
2) Visit this website. Instant notification will appear when you look up our personal weather station and then click on our name highlighted in blue.

Happy Boating!
Tom
