Amongst all the smoke from nearby California fires, the redwoods were still beautiful within the national forest.
OOO, it was good to get out there today. . .even though it was very warm (for me).
This picture was taken just down from the Great Falls that the city was named for.
The most gorgeous hike, though exhausting...
The Spis Castle belongs among the largest castle complexes in Europe. The first of the castle mention becomes from the 12th century.
In 1993 the castle together with the surroundings was included to the UNESCO world cultural heritage.

A sleepy and still little creek way back in the woods on a hot summer day. Too bad I didn't bring my fishing pole.
#734 - 2-8-0 Consolidation of the Western Maryland Scenic Railway, Cumberland, MD
Shot at Muir Woods National Monument.
Taken at 300mm of our neighbor's pasture/horse. I felt privileged to view the golden colors painted by the Creator.
Sitting on a pier with the fishermen watching the sunset
Kynance cove Cornwall uk. Wonderfull place quite magical. The kids love it because it has walk through caves. But best of all is as the tide goes out people start to disappear around the corner between some rocks. So being inquisitive you go for a look. Then WOW it opens up to a magical hiden cove and beach with the Atlantic both sides of the beach. This always reminds me of the film The Beach with Leonardo DiCaprio.

North Pole star trails from Madonie Mountains (Sicily-Italy)
We waited about 90 minutes for the clouds to lift, and then the mountain magically appeared. Top center of the picture is the still growing lava dome (you can see steam coming out of it and mixing with the clouds) It is surrounded by the youngest glacier on the planet.
Crossing the river at the bottom of the picture was a heard of 14 Elk bulls. My little camera didn't have the zoom to pick them up...
One of many spectacular views along the hike in Rocky Mountain National Park today.
HOT TIME IN THE SUMMER SUN (
TammyC)
Living life in the country is never taken for granted.
There's a country song that claims you can't fence time. Some from the living history crowd may beg to differ. :-) The buildings at Hale Farm and Village in Bath, Ohio replicate what the fictional “living history” town of Wheatfield would have looked like in 1848.
Summer in the city VI. (

The historical part of Banská Bystrica is a municipal cultural reservation with a complex of objects that creates a town castle. The old town castle was built in the 14th century.

Standing in Fort Walton Beach and looking across Choctawhatchee Bay as the sun just first peeks up over Shalimar, FL.
From higher up, the rows of corn make a great photo.
I have never taken pictures of clouds before but when I saw these I decided to give it a try. Wow,the photos came out just the way I saw them. I only cropped them a little but didn't change the colors.Today was 104 degrees and we are having a server drought so maybe these clouds are a good sign.
The rain unusually heavy rain has provided for near jungle-like green in Vermont!

A small village in Provence
Snowberry Clear-wing Sphinx Moth (
dypepper)
This little moth is very fast!! He stays in one place about one second, which doesn't give you much time to focus and shoot. These were shot with the camera set on shutter speed priority of 1/1500 of a second.
Here's one more shot from our mini storm chase this evening. (A mini storm chase is when the storm is not really large and you spend a lot of time trying to get out of the rain so you can take pictures.) A rainbow for good luck for everyone.
along our road. Wonderful dark skies made for fine contrasts, all day, but espescially towards dusk.
In the old half-ruined village
Wolf Creek, Killarney, Ontario
Bolts of lightning shoot down in the hills above Sherman Oaks, Ca as monsoon moisture moves in early this morning. Even though the lightning seems close, it was really over the ocean 10 miles away.

Such beauty in God's creation!!! Truly amazing!
During Fay, I took a short trip to Paynes Prairie. This is Camp Ranch Road. I love this winding path. Today it was even more interesting with the rain drops and subtle forest light. Thanks to Fay, everything looks so green now. ~
Each year one of our local farmers puts in a field of sunflowers. We hope he keeps up the tradition.

I am in search of pictures of Prairie Du Chein, WI cirrca 1950's till current. The reason is I was born there. In 1956 my dad was in seminary doing his first gig at a Evangelical United Brethren church. My family then returned to our home in the Pacific NorthWest that same year. Please respond or advise to eightyeightkids@yahoo.com Attn: BARKSONG
