Ugliest Igloo EVER - SNOWTOPIA -

Well, my Eskimold(little trademark thingy) was successful in most ways. The only failure was my failure to have another adult nut willing to stay out in the snow long enough to help me build the igloo. So higher and higher it went until my igloo/teepee/chimney stack was complete. All the other snowfreaks were trapped at their homes too. What an incredible winter I've had so far here in Northern Virginia. 83 inches of snow this season and counting.

Listen to me people, MORE SNOW IS ON THE WAY!

Enjoy the pictures. I have lots of video of the deranged igloo man, hopefully I'll be able to link to it. The poor man is sick.

ALL OF THESE PICTURES, EXCEPT OF THE IGLOO, WERE TAKEN BEFORE 15 MORE INCHES FELL ON FEBRUARY 9-10. UNBELIEVABLE

good morning Heavysnow.
I waited and waited for you to come and clear my driveway but ended up doing it myself.
The snow is a bit dry to make an igloo but once it freezes you may be able to carve out blocks. Your welcome to all you want
Have a good day.

Thanks for all the Christmas and New Year's wishes everyone!!! No igloos here yet with our dearth of snow, lots of cold though.
Yes huri, Pumpkin left us last January 31, in my arms. The two new girls, bigger this time, miniatures poodles instead of toys, are sisters from the same litter, Coco and Ginger.

It's their first New Year!

Happy New Year all! Be safe and happy tonight and throughout the year.

A Hogmanay Blessing for You:

May there always be work for your hands to do.
May your purse always hold a coin or two.
May the sun always shine upon your window pane.
May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain.
May the hand of a friend always be near to you and
May God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you.

Happy New Year 2011, Heavy!

Merry Christmas Heavy,
Bet you must be exhausted from all the snow forecasting and wrapping and making Christmas for the beauties. Is Pumpkin gone? What are the names of the two new ones? Poodles? Blonde and Blond?

Many warm wishes for you and yours this Christmas Day.

"We hear the beating of wings over Bethlehem and a light that is not of the sun or of the stars shines in the midnight sky. Let the beauty of the story take away all narrowness, all thought of formal creeds. Let it be remembered as a story that has happened again and again, to men of many different races, that has been expressed through many religions, that has been called by many different names. Time and space and language lay no limitations upon human brotherhood."

~New York Times, 25 December 1937, quoted in Quotations for Special Occasions by Maud van Buren, 1938, published by The H.W. Wilson Company, New York

I know it's winter when his blog comes alive. Really, it's heartwarming, he's the winter freak.

Heavy- if it snows here in Jacksonville, while I'm home and while I'm awake, I will go outside and play in a bikini.

And believe me- I make that promise every year....keeps the snow away.

Welcome home.

Heavy, last winter, reminds me of the best winter I ever went thru as a kid, 1960-1961, when my area, New Rochelle Ny. had three wonderful snow storms-- DEc. 13th, Jan.20th, and Feb. 4th. Not quite as big as yours but way up there. I hope we both get at least one or two good ones this winter.

Thanks LWF. They're just as beautiful in the Summer, maybe more. Thank the lord for the swimming pool this Summer especially. We had our 37th day above 90 yesterday. That is our average for the entire season. Last year we had only 22. A bit hot here. My brother in law from Tampa visited last week and said it was incredibly hot here. Let it SNOW!

After I wrote my comment to you on my blog, I remembered that the other side of Guiney Road (by Rt. 236) is the Truro subdivision. And I seem to remember that there is a community pool there, is this where the swimming meet was held?
Hopefully your son enjoyed the experience.

Actually I think we may now have seen the decadal switch to a negative NAO regime. Without the negative NAO, this winter would have been a disaster. I truely believe the next series of winters may actually be near normal snowfall at the minimum.

Hi, Heavy!

What wonderful pictures. I see all the kids have had a great time in the snow. Esp. that rather large kid in the pics! lol

I have to tell ya, seeing snow on palm trees and palmettos is oddly disturbing for some reason. There were some shots of them posted here last weekend and our local paper had some in their photo galleries.

More snow on the way?

Have fun!

Looking around on Youtube for extreme sledding videos, I came across this link.

This company sells high performance sleds. You can do flips, jumps, and even safely steer around trees on slopes.

I might have to get one of these! LOL
