Wisconsin Weather Update

Light snow ending this morning, then a mostly dry week ahead.
A weak disturbance to our northwest is developing some light snow showers across parts of northeastern Wisconsin this morning. Some of those snow showers are dropping into central and southeastern Wisconsin, but should push off to the east shortly. Otherwise, besides some drizzle which may show up briefly tomorrow, we’ve got another dry week ahead, which should continue to help us set some winter records for (lack of) snow. There’s just barely enough to sled on around here!

Sun today, snow tonight. Get used to that pattern.Numerous fast-moving storm systems are going to move through over the next few days. They seem to be aligning in a pattern where we get snow in the evening and overnight, then partial clearing during the day. None of the snows look too terrible, although we could see about 1-3” of snow tonight depending on where you live in the Badger state. The good news is that while we will get colder this weekend with highs in...

School closings? But my backyard porch has no snow on it!Well, the school closings are mostly in central Wisconsin where the precip is falling as a mix this morning, making travel quite hazardous. In eastern Wisconsin, we’ve got fog and rain showers to deal with, but not for long. Soon, like our friends to the west, our precip will briefly change over to a mixed bag of fun before changing entirely over to snow, and we may see an inch or so of new snow before the s...

Okay, this weather sucks. When will I want to go outside again? For many of us, we will NEED to go outside later today either to go to work or to shovel our driveway of the new snow that will start falling shortly. But when will we WANT to go outside? It could be sooner than you think. A band of fluffy snow has started falling this morning across southwestern Wisconsin, southern Minnesota and northern Iowa, and will start affecting much of eastern Wisconsin shortly. ...

Will I need my shovel this week?Perhaps, and maybe your ice scraper and some salt pellets too. We’ve got two big weather stories this week: a possible freezing rain event tonight, then an arctic blast of bitterness for the second half of the work week. A low pressure system is heading our way tonight from the southwest, which will bring precip starting this evening and continuing through tomorrow afternoon. Warm temperatures above freezing will begin to drop as th...
